Nothing wrong with trucks, per se. It's those people who own giant trucks and drive in the city, "posing". Those just tick me off...no point to it at all. However, if someone has a horse ranch, or uses his truck to actually haul things around, then it's fine. Use it in the manner it is designed for; not have it to show off or make a statement in. Brilliant!!!!!!!!!! I even went so far in my Jethro Tull fad as to obtain the symphonic version of their "Greatest Hits" (not muzac, but actual, London Philharmonic renditions), made my father listen to it, and he agreed, they're good. That was back in the vinyl days, though. I wonder if they've gotten it onto CD...that would be fun as hell to have in the car. I need to get my Jethro Tull collection restored...just have to. I'm quite sure there are many people with back problems on prescription meds who are capable of resisting addiction. Obviously Rush isn't one of them. He's one of the people who became addicted, and addiction can be damn hard to overcome. We buy new books all the time. I've read to him nearly every night since he was born. He's 9 now, and when we look at books to read next, half the time he says, "Already read it." He LOVES to read. When I saw his scores I tossed around things I could buy him as a reward, but when I showed him how well he did, I realized that there's nothing I could buy him that would even begin to touch him. He was SO PROUD of himself. He glowed. What a moment. I mean, a couple years ago, I'd read with him, and I'd explain how to sound out "we." A couple minutes later, he'd not be able to read it again. Now he reads novels. It's wonderful. The reading teacher, Ms. Hall, is da bomb. It is a shame that we can't compare by state, especially when ya' live in Arkansas. I do love this place, but it's never been the most literate state in the Union. It'd be nice to see how he's doing in the bigger mix. The state average on the literacy part of the test was 509. So I just got my child's third grade Benchmark Scores. I'm very pleased with how he did. A couple years ago when he entered public school, he was having a terrible time reading....kindergarten level in 2nd grade. I've read to him forever, and tried to help him with his reading, but it just didn't click. It was kinda scary how difficult it was for him. This school worked really hard with him, and now he's doing great. He scored "Advanced" in the Literacy section of his Benchmark test. I'm proud of him, but more importantly, he's really proud of himself. We are in Arkansas. I'm interested in how our state scores compare nationally. While there is a higher incidence of STDs and their sequelae among uncircumcised males, I don't know if performing a surgical procedure to remove their foreskin is really the best way to address that issue, especially when education about safe sexual practices can accomplish the same thing. Only recently has anesthetic become commonplace for the procedure. So most circumcisions occurred on unanesthetized babies. and still are.
