For whatever reason - soy milk and apple juice were the preferred choice for this couple. To me, that goes beyond being "vegan" - that speaks to ignorance, negligence, mental illness...etc. It may not have been murder. They may have been feeding that baby all day long. Yep. But unless they were GROSSLY impaired themselves, they should have at the very least taken their child to a doctor or anyone for some guidance. If you're feeding your child all day long and he's wasting away, ya' really, really, really should go the next step and come up with a better plan. lol....no pissing contestant here either. It's just that even though a person *may* have symptoms for longer, if you're not better in 72 hours, most of us want to see you again. That's because usually symptoms do get better in that time period, and if they don't most of us want to make sure there's not something worse going on...like peritonsilar abscess, for instance. What starts out as a run-of-the mill problem can turn into something much worse. If it doesn't resolve in a typical time frame, then it's smart to be re-checked. If you read the link that I had in my post.... this might last up to 2wks Throat cultures may be positive for a couple weeks, but you should feel better within 72 hours. If not, you need to follow-up with your physician. Depending on whether a culture was done at the time of diagnosis, there could be other causes that need to be identified. Mono, for instance, can leave ya' with a bad spleen. Also, if they did cultures, they should have sensitivities back. Levaquin may not be the best choice of abx. Welfare workers can identify chronic recipients who they suspect of drug use and submit their names for testing. ...like college students. How about students receiving federally guaranteed student loans or other financial aid? I know there were more than a few dollars of my student loans spent on things other than necessities. My only opinion in response to the e-mail being circulating, is also why it's so funny. If someone doesn't have the money for basic food, clothing & housing, how is it they have the money for weed? I'm not anti-the-welfare-recipient. I didn't think that you were anti-the-welfare-recipient at all. I was just thinking of the situation in general....and at what point recipients of welfare should be subject to meeting certain criteria of worthiness. For example, in Arkansas, we have a medical insurance program called ARKids First for kids of working parents who don't earn enough money for private medical insurance. Also, there are people who receive Social Security benefits, disability benefits, who have worked their whole lives and contributed to the betterment of society in many ways (not that working is the only way to contribute to society). Should they all be subject to those kinds of invasions of privacy? My first response was, "Hell Yeah! They ought to have to submit to a drug test..." But then I just thought about what all was included in welfare. People tend to think, I think, about welfare as a check that poor people get for doing nothing. That's the one thing that welfare isn't as far as I can see. And, for someone on welfare, it certainly isn't considered cheap. And it's a "LUXURY"! What welfare are you referring to? Disability? Food Stamps? Housing? (In Arkansas....at least Little Rock....if a person has ever been convicted of a drug-related crime, they can NEVER get housing assistance.) Medicaid? Medicare? Unemployment benefits? WIC? It sounds like you're talking about cash payments to people who are poor. At 13 we no longer "play doctor" we at 13 have generally hit puberty and a 9 year old is pre-pubescent. That person in essence is a pedophile because he/ she is attracted and acts upon such feelings. Wrong. From the DSM IV "The paraphiliac focus of Pedophilia involves sexual activity with a prepubescent child (generally age 13 years or younger). The individual with Pedophilia must be age 16 years or older and at least 5 years older than the child. For individuals in late adolescence with Pedophilia, no precise age difference is specified, and clinical judgment must be used; both the sexual maturity of the child and the age difference must be taken into account." There's a reason that these distinctions are made. The difference between children and adults is more than just the number of years. In addition, there is a VERY HIGH recidivism rate of sex offending when the sex offender starts as a child. Likewise, children with conduct disorders have a high likelihood of turning into adults with antisocial personality d/o....and prison inmates. But ya' don't put every 13 y/o who has been violent towards other people on a list that gets passed around to their neighbors for the rest of their lives. If we did, maybe there'd be fewer murders and other violent crimes committed, but it's just not the right thing to do. Ok I guess you are right.. its the little sluts fault. Sometimes it does take two to tango, and when two kids mess around and one is 4 years older than the other, the older child is the one who will be charged even if they BOTH were involved.
