Hope he likes the taste of crow. It IS sad that so many people blindly supported him for so long that he wasn't thrown to the wolves long ago. It's sad that his actions have caused the deaths of so many people. It's sad that he's made a mockery of our nation. But there's nothing sad about his personal humiliation, imho. I wish I had taken a picture of this sign I saw one summer driving through Alabama. Made me chuckle a little....but I'm kinda simple-minded like that. Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by an East Coast resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative: Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them: When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Seems like you're more against unmanaged growth than immigration. No. I'm against unmanaged immigration. The area (NW Arkansas per my last post) was growing for years before the Hispanic population exploded. Now that we have so many illegal immigrants, we have crime. Now whether that's because they flooded in so quickly (thus unmanaged growth) or because it's an influx of people living in relative poverty is beside the point, imho. Their being here has brought crime that wasn't here before. it's what happens when we pretend that we don't need immigrants and refuse them the necessary paperwork and facilities to integrate with society. Immigrants are fine....millions of illegal immigrants are not. Some of them go through appropriate channels. "It's what happens when" more of them want in than we want in. Indeed. And that's the sum-total of criminality for the overwhelming majority of them. So we fix the problem by adjusting the label to read legal instead of illegal. I was being silly. But I really doubt that illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes than citizens. Of course what we see with our own eyes is sometimes shown to be wrong, but the increasing crime rates (with Hispanics as the perpetrators) are obvious in my state. A few years ago, there was next to NO crime in NW Arkansas. Now there's quite a lot....and Hispanics are behind it. Obviously, *most* Hispanics aren't criminals, but when you see your own towns going downhill because of illegal immigrants....even if it's not the majority of them....then I'd rather have none of 'em here. Okay....he introduced her to ecstasy and coke. She moved on to meth on her own. People who introduce others to drugs have some responsibility for the outcome. In my mind, supporting a person's recovery is not patting them on the hand and telling them "everything will be okay....it's really not your fault what happened to your friend (and her child) whom you introduced to hard drugs." Maybe she would have gone there anyway, but as it is, it's he who facilitated her entry into the lifestyle of drug use. I do not think it is far to blame methsucks for introducing her to meth. Yes it is. Not his fault for her continuing to use, but it is his fault for introducing her to it. I would expect, though everyone's different, that it will be an important event for his recovery to recognize the effects of his behavior on other people. This one is big. She is not taking the responsibility for her decisions in trying to blame you for what has happened. and THAT will be important for her to overcome if she is going to recover herself. The labor's only cheap for so long....once they're settled in, they want what everyone else gets. Who wouldn't? But I'm concerned about where that leaves us socially and fiscally. The folks who worked hard to get here and worked hard while they were here to make a better life for themselves and their families have children who often don't have their same work ethic. The rising crime rates because of these now adult children annoys the hell out of me. We get to foot that bill AND deal with the social problems that they bring. I don't know if I really qualify as a workaholic, but I really love my work. Tonight's my only night off in 6....and I work days too...lol. That's 14 hours off in a 6-day period. But "being on" doesn't always mean being busy....just available. Some days are busy. Others aren't. There are usually at least 3-4 hours of sleep on a bad night, but not necessarily 3-4 hours straight, and not every night is bad. But then I'll only work one night over the following week.
