Is this the same nebulous "they" that were supposed to have flying cars done by the 1960s and have a colony on the moon by the end of the century? Man, these bastards are some deadline-missing slackers!
-
Tash, I'm not sure if they work together or not, but you might have priority with priorities, if you wanted them to share CPU cycles. Instead of trying to make them coexist, put one on one box and the other on another box. Pretty soon you'll get hooked and have a whole farm of distributed computing boxes. Not that I know anything about that, of course...

You and what army, little man?
-
That is *so* begging for a joke, but I'll let someone else... Anyway, glad things went well, and I hope it does the trick for you.

Are your clothes among the posessions you'll be giving away?

Get yourself inked in as a hybrid jumper hanging beneath the formation?

Not to attempt to hijack the thread or anything... Did you switch sponsorships, Chuck? Last I recalled, you were on a different team. I hope the deal got sweeter for you, in terms of perks or gear, or something...
-
Actually, I was folding before, under a different name, and for a different team. http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/userpage?name=JustinFields Even if I'd used the exact same name, I still couldn't have transferred the WUs. Too bad, huh? I agree with you. If competition and stats get people involved, the bring it on. I don't mind if I get passed by either.

I have not personally done the research, but the answer is yes, there is an advantage to not seeing the graphics. Free DC (distributed computing) is a good site for tech-oriented info on numerous distributed computing projects. I used to crunch F@H for them, awhile before the DZ.com team. http://www.free-dc.org/folding/

We're coming after you, Cajones!

And the time they spent using string to connect their teeth to the plane's floater bar as directed by the British dental care program.

Oh, please. Like you had to.... It was already on a RAID-5 system, with realtime mirroring to an offsite server, CD and DLT backup stored in fireproof vault..... Some things just need to be preserved at all costs.

But of course! http://www.jennandjustin.com/skreamer.html

And if he ever tries to deny it, he'll find that I have a copy of his spotting video permanently enshrined on my server. He can't escape that one.

Depends on where you wear it. Did you forget to cover the ear holes?

Does the "hybrid" nature of the car have anything to do with hampster wheels? Maybe he forgot to feed them.
-
If you'd been in all the *other* threads, you'd understand.
-
You could always just start another thread that will degenerate into a morass of gun fanatics debating the lethality of different loads without any ethical compunction about the people they contemplate killing. Hypothetically, of course, because no thread would have so many irresponsible posters inciting you to acts of self-destruction when they repeatedly fail to see the logical flaws in their arguements.

Maybe it is a insufficiency in the quantity of resource-depleting hydrocarbon-based fossil fuels in his car. (Hybrid, if I remember.) Thanks for the info, guys. I'm planning ahead for a potential summer trip.

Hey folks. What DZs are near San Diego? I looked on the USPA site, but I'm not sure where all of the towns are in relation to San Diego, not to mention ones that might not be USPA group members. How many dropzones are within... say... 1 hour of San Diego? Which are big, little, etc? How far is someplace like Perris? Thanks!
-
What is the benefit in that? Wouldn't it get just as much work done with one instance of Folding on each processor, as opposed to two getting half the cycles? Or something like that?
-
Yes, they do. But then again, did you expect anything else? You do live in England...

"The study recommended that the United States implement a carefully planned transition to predominant use of the metric system over a ten-year period. Congress passed the Metric Conversion Act of 1975 "to coordinate and plan the increasing use of the metric system in the United States." The Act, however, did not require a ten-year conversion period. A process of voluntary conversion was initiated, and the U.S. Metric Board was established. The Board was charged with "devising and carrying out a broad program of planning, coordination, and public education, consistent with other national policy and interests, with the aim of implementing the policy set forth in this Act." The efforts of the Metric Board were largely ignored by the American public, and, in 1981, the Board reported to Congress that it lacked the clear Congressional mandate necessary to bring about national conversion. Due to this apparent ineffectiveness, and in an effort to reduce Federal spending, the Metric Board was disestablished in the fall of 1982." http://ts.nist.gov/ts/htdocs/200/202/lc1136a.htm No. We have anti-ugliness standards, that, unlike the metric system standards, are strictly enforced. I used to have a cool Metric System lunchbox when I was in elementary school. It had the conversions for all the different units, plus you could measure... things... with the handy centimeter markings on the edge. I have to agree with you. Even centimeters sound better than inches.

"In 1875, the United States solidified its commitment to the development of the internationally recognized metric system by becoming one of the original seventeen signatory nations to the Treaty of the Meter. The signing of this international agreement concluded five years of meetings in which the metric system was reformulated, refining the accuracy of its standards. The Treaty of the Meter, also know as the "Metric Convention," established the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) in Sèvres, France, to provide standards of measurement for worldwide use. " I don't care who is in control of the standard now. I'm talking history. Work with me, NacMac. "We are blaming the French." Please write that on the chalkboard 100 times, or you will be in for detention.

And next you'll tell me it is "centre" not "center" or something. Before you say, "Yes, that is correct", pull your head out of your ass... excuse me... "arse" and look it up. Don't ask me. I didn't make up this crap. You British freaks did. And before you go talking about how you've switched to the superior metric system, look at who invented that. The French. And there you go, as usual, it is all the fault of the French.
