Keep at it. I live in NYC and we still have a good number of tandems in September. Also remember, you will have times of rapid weight loss and time where you hit a wall. Stick with it. With the warm weather, taking your kid out for a walk or to the park is a great hidden exercise. You get to run around with your kid and have fun. Your kid gets quality time with dad, everyone wins. Ride a bicycle on short trips instead of taking the car, stairs not the escalator, etc, etc, etc. Keep your diet realistic. Have a treat once or twice a week. Just keep the treat reasonable. No 6 slices of pizza and 12 beers. And hate to say it; but, limit the alcohol. Tons of wasted calories. Also get an add for you tandem and put a few of them up at work, in the car and in the house. Remind yourself what the reward is. Good luck. And if you do lose the weight, try to keep some of the new healthy habits you learned. Even if you gain back some of the weight, you will feel better. Sorry to say it, you guys do not know real Pizza. Those bread and cheese concotions they serve in Chicago are not pizza. It's a sad attempt at pizza by a city that never learned to make a crust. Try Grimaldi's in Brooklyn (19 Old Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY) or John's Pizza at 278 Bleeker St. If you want GREAT squares, go to L&B Spumoni Gardens 2725 - 86 Street Brooklyn. I think it is really pretty easy to explain. I ride motorcycles and skydive. Both groups have their similarities. Here in NYC, I know at least 1 pesron per year since 1988 who has died in a motorcycle accident. In 1996, it was my best friend. I am sure that as I spend more in skydiving, it will be similar. With everything that happened this weekend, my heart goes out to Gus' family. I also think we should take a moment to think about Bill and all the other jump pilots. They have an incredibly imprtant and often over looked job in skydiving. Too often we only think of them when we get a bad spot or something tragic happens. I do not know Bill; but, we should all send him some Vibes. I'm sure he is having a difficult time. Keep all the jump pilots in your hearts. Well, I've been having a pain in my head the last week. Not a headache, a steady dull pain. My dad, and sister have both had strokes so my Dr. is taking it very cautious. So off for a week of tests. I'm a little nervous; but, I know that 99.99% of the time it will be nothing. So wish me luck. Hopefully next week, this will be old new and I'll be back in the air.
