And make sure the bike is off and on level ground and you hold it straight up (not on the kickstand). Or there may be a metal rod (dipstick) on the oil cap. In which case, do all the leve ground stuff and check with the dipstick. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

The Farm this weekend - Ladies photo shoot boy shorts
Brian425 replied to ladyskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Pretty ladies come in all shapes and sizes. Some very ugly people come with near perfect outer beauty. Celebrate the beauty of the person. Not every culture worships the size 2 woman with D cup implants. To all the sexy sky girlies, rock on and have fun. If you don't like what you see, just move on. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. -
So I went to an interview with an investment bank to see if I would be a good fit to help them with the start up of a new desk. The interview went pretty well.

Kelel, you always make me smile. I'll put you at the top of the list in the nicest sort of way. I chose you because, I actually think I would enjoy hanging out with you before, during and after. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Skydivers who don't deserve respect.
Brian425 replied to Trae's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Trae, You are right that these people have a negative impact on our sport; but, the other jumpers need to do something about it. Evil/Bad flourishes when good people do nothing. It's up to the jumpers at each DZ, to police it. If the group shows that it is unacceptable, these people will forced to change their ways or move on. After a while, they will have no where to jump unless they make an honest attempt to change. These exact people you described are in every walk of life. They are everywhere. It may seem that there are more at the DZ because you are in close quarters with them for extended periods of time. We have to deal with them. It's part of life. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. -
Kelp, you are right. I just feel that my reserve loaded at 1.1 is not terribly out of line. I agree that I am out of the "limits" of the recommendations. I just thought that after many discussions with my instructors that it was safe. A second factor that came into consideration was the fact that reserves tend to be conservative canopies. So a reserve loaded at 1.1 is far different than a katana loaded at 1.1. It is not perfect; but, it is the best system I could build within my limitations. I agree that I do not have a perfect set up. I would prefer to have a reserve loaded at 1.0 or less. Like I said, buying used and having a budget put constraints on building my rig. As it is, I am comfortable with a main loaded at .95 and my reserve loaded at 1.1. I think they are reasonable numbers for a 55 jump person. Also since they are recommendations, they are there for guidance. I am not be interested in jumping a canopy loaded at 1.2 or above right now and DEFINITELY would not want to load my reserve any higher than it is right now. I think that my reserve is at the limit of good judgement. Kelp, you are 100% right. I am not following the recommendations to the letter. I did do my best to make intelligent decisions in building the rig. It is not perfect; but, I feel confident with it. Another item that adds to my comfort level is the fact the my DZ does make an effort to guide students to canopy control classes. When Scott Miller came to do his classes, there were a few slots held for students and new A license holders. I took his class at 27 jumps and hope to get in it again next spring when he is back. There are many opportunities for low jump number people at my DZ. You just need to listen to the experienced people. We have many qualified people who can assist us newbies with all aspects of skydiving. They key is getting newbies to get appropriate gear and then explain to them that the A license is similar to heading off to college. You can screw around and have fun or you can get to studying. Your A is just an extension of student status. Unfortunately some people are not interested in self-study. My goal is to be a safe skydiver. I'm not perfect; but, I'm working on it. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Kelp, a fair question. My coach felt that it was still a safe enough size to use. I told that reserves tend to be of a very conservative design and I should have no problem flying it. My original plan was to have a larger reserve; but, I bought used so I had to make the best decision based on real life (funds, availability, etc) Even though it is comparatively small, I am still only loading it a little over 1.1. I agree not ideal for a stressful situation; but, I am betting my safety that it will be effective. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

It might not be popular; but, I think it's a good idea. While it may not have the intended impact on current jumpers, I think it will reinforce what is taught to our new jumpers. If we can get the new jumpers to follow these guidlines, it may have a positive influence on future jumpers. And since it is a "recommendation", it give us some wiggle room to tailor it to individuals. I was lucky. I learned at a place where instructors took an interest in all the students. I was given a list of appropriate canopies to consider when I was off student status. I was told "If you insist on buying something stupid, I'll remind you of the bad decision when they load you in the ambulance." It was a joke and the truth at the same time. Having instructors who were willing go the extra mile and help pick out gear and inspect went a long way for me. It had a positive impact on my skydiving and my outlook on this sport. $1,000,000 would be nice; but, I'm happy just the way things are right now. Money is nice; but, happiness is key. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Had a great weekend. I didn't even jump; but, it was great. I had a chance to give a little back to the sport. I taught a visiting jumper how to pack and helped him get a few things signed off on his A card. It was fun teaching how to pack. It's funny; because, I HATE to pack for myself. Well, his pack jobs worked and he had a BIG smile when he landed. Got my water trainging for my B and survived the high 90's heat and sunshine with no sunburn. Saturday evening was with the Mrs. We went to Lion King and had a great time. We enjoyed the evening and then went out for Brunch this morning. So no jumps; but, some skydiving things acomplished and a happy wife. What else could I want.

At the Ranch, the punushment would be colapsing one side of your slider before you pack. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

The capacity for violence is a necessary skill. Controling it is an even more important skill. The key to staying out of huge trouble is to meet violence with an appropriate level of violence. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Bubbles, you are always invited to hang out with me. Maybe we can play the bowling game for beers. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

I want to go out. I want to go somewhere new. I want to drink and talk and laugh and have fun. Where should I go? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

The people I jump with are really good about break off altitude. It's reall simple, in anyone is unhappy with the break off altitude, speak up and we work on an agreed on number. We do try to keep them realistic, no break off at 7,000 and pull at 5,000. Usually break off at 4.5k or 5k and pull by 3.5k. If you are uncomfortable and feel you are being forced to pull low, don't jump with them. Wait until you are comfortable with their numbers. Don't break your own safety rules to make others happy. Be Safe and have fun. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Hey man, How are you!! I sat next to you on the Otter on your next jump after you got wet. Don't sweat it. You did fine. In AFF they drill into you NO turns close to the ground. They also discuss flat turns and slight adjustment when on final. With a little more experience, you could have avoided it easily. The fact is, you are not used to judging your rate of descent and the primary DO NOT TURN LOW training overrode the you can make gentle adjustments that are discussed in class. I think you will be fine. Your attitude is the key. You were open to discussing it, laughed about it and were willing to accept responsibility. Keep that attitude and you will be fine. See you at the Ranch. Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

There is always something going on at the Ranch. Come on down and jump. 2 or 3 Otters and a nice view. Plenty of people to jump with and as much fun as you can handle. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

It's joke. The bathrooms are ok. They just have a ton of people use them. Wear your shower shoes in the shower. And don't sit on the toilet. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

That work and family thing leave me with only a few hours on Saturday to jump. But, I am working on it. I'm hoping to do 3 jumps a week for the rest of the year. Maybe even sneak in a Sunday when the wife is not looking. No, no stupid stuff for me. I want to build a good rep on the DZ. So far the ask questions, listen to answers, APPLY answers, buy beer approach is working. Fruit loop??? HMMMM I need to look into this. Can we do it with a 4 way? Might have 2 extra this weekend. HMMMM, I am not sure you are being 100% honest. Seems that you and Grouper have a "history". And I always wondered where this sig line came from "Mike, Cofounder of Nylon Sodomy and Blackeye CReW " Maybe you need to need to look to yourself for the answers.
