1. I just don't get the combover thing. Why not accept the fact that you are losing your hair. Do you think that you are fooling us? WOW, look at that thick lusterous hair that flows from left to right. STOP IT!!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
2. In NYC, you get a fine but no points. Happened to my friend when his son started driving. The little jackass ran the same red light twice in 3 weeks. Dad was pissed at the first and went nuts with the second one. Needless to say junior was not driving for several months. 3. After the Mesquite boogie was rained out, I gave them a call to see if they knew anywhere else to jump. They told me to come on down and I could jump. It was mid week and they got a few loads up. Mostly tandems and a fun jumper or 2. They went out of their way to take care of me. When the Cessna was flying, I was always offered any open spot. It bothers me that they get such a bad rap here. I jump at the Ranch and I had about 35 jumps when I showed up. They gave me essentially a currency class to check my knowledge and asked that I do a "coach" jump (I paid the 2 slots only). No charge for the review and the fairest price for a "coach" jump. I understand that they had a bad rep from before when they were a "tandem factory". If you are in Vegas, give them a call. I'm pretty sure that they will do their best to take care of you. 4. Like I said, Skydive Mesquite had a great vibe, the set up was nice and I forgot to add, good food at the Golf course down the road. Unfortunately, as the God of Wind and Rain, I brought 2 days of rain to the desert during the Feb Boogie. Skydive Las Vegas was good to me. The tandem rates seem fair, $199 for a jump from 13k and $169 for basically a hop and pop from 5k. I don't see how this is a bad deal. I've seem tandems from 13k anywhere from $175 to $225. I think he will be happy at either one. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
5. I did some fun jumps at Skydive Las Vegas in February. I had a great time. The views were wonderful, the Hoover Dam, the big mountain, the desert, a little bit of the strip from the plane. I think they are still getting a bad rap from there earlier times when they were merely a tandem factory and were not interested in fun jumpers. I would go back and I would recommend it to anyone. I was at the Mesquite Boogie in Feb this year. They had a great group of people and a nice setup. It rained the 2 days I was there (yes, I am the God of Wind and Rain). I would recommend it; but, the only downside is that it is about an 80 mile drive from Las Vegas. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
6. Was it similar to a ball under malfunction? I thank god my canopy opens softly after that. Swollen balls look strange. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

My AFF1

Congrats!!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
8. Pete, I jump at the DZ you seem to be talking about. There is NOTHING hidden there. For whatever reason, they choose not to post about most incidents here. If something is posted here, one of 3 people generally respond with the facts of the incident. When I posted about my accident there last August, everyone at the DZ was pefectly happy with my choice. It took me a little while to post as I was healing up. I was told by a few people that they did not post becasue it was MY business and MY choice to post or not post. It is not a conspiracy of silence. It is respect for my privacy. This is a wonderful site and I truly believe that the incidents post here do a great service to the community. It is not an official agency that regulates our sport though. Posting here is a coutesy to the community; however, we must respect the jumpers involved first. Personally I will always post any incidents I may be involved in. I will never post about another jumper. It's not my business. I don't feel that it is a case of hiding anything. Just differences in what people believe. I may not agree with what you think about posting here; but, I support you right to your opinion. I would ask one thing of you though. Please try to speak to the jumper involved before posting here. I think that they deserve that courtesy. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
9. I know I am a low jump number guy; but, you have to stop him. Talk to him, talk to the DZO, talk to the S&TA. Just don't let him jump that. It is an incident waiting to happen. Please stop. He will get hurt. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
10. I think the closet to you would be Sonic at the Ranch. 845 255-2252 or sonic@theranchproshop.com I'd be happy to give you a ride from the City to the Ranch. I did a big search in Feb to find a rigger around Manhattan. They don't exist. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
11. The ranch will have a big fireworks show and party. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
12. It was the Ranch. You teaching have traveled far. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
13. I heard some nice things about you and some funny stories. It seems that some CRW dogs have learned some very "colorful" sign language. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
14. If you want to jump at the Ranch, I can pick you up in the City most weekends. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
15. Why would you travel 1.5 hours to go to a DZ you are not sure is open? The Ranch is open everyday now and is 1.5 hrs away. Skydive Jersey shore is about the same time by car. Not sure if they are open during the week; but, they would not jerk you around. If you ever need a ride to the Ranch, PM me and you're welcome to come with me. The vibe is what you make it. There are jerks everywhere. Just be nice and avoid the politics. Have fun and jump. That is the main reason we do this. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
16. Thanks. That's what I was trying to do. Nice arch in the first 2 pictures. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
17. looks like a pretty good arch in this picture. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1565678;search_string=cat;#1565678 Supposedly cat survive better from higher falls. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
18. I could take to some club for that after. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
19. I sent you a PM. I probably have room for one more if anyone want to come along. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
20. If you want to go to the Ranch, I'm driving there Saturday. I might be corrupted to try crosskeys; but, Ranch is home. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
21. The price sounds reasonable. I think that the key would be to get one of your old instructors or S&TA to go over the gear choice with you. When I bought my rig, my instructors helped me out a TON. I bought all my gear used at my DZ. My canopy is a snug fit in my container now and will easily allow for some downsizing in the future. I think that the priorities should be: 1) Safe for you at your level right now. 2) Some room for you to grow in the sport without having to start all over again with a shole new set up. Money is important obviously; but, if you have $3,600 hundred to spend, you should easily be able to find a complete rig or build a complete that will meet all your needs. Better to be conservative now. I will give you some room for the newbie mistakes we all make. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
22. Well, I can give you a little advice. I did my training at the Ranch in Gardiner NY, a big DZ. (about 100 miles from you) I loved it!! For me everything clicked, the people, the instructors, the people. It will always be my home DZ. I would recomend it. Skydive Jersey Shore is aobut 50 miles from you. It's a smaller DZ. They fly 2 Cessnas. The vibe is good, the people are nice and helpful. The DZO (Dropzone Owner) is out doing tandems, instructing, and fun jumping when he gets the chance. I did not train there; however, I think that it would be a good and safe place to learn. (I've seen how they treat the students) There are differences between big and small DZ's to learn. It is easy to get "lost" at a big DZ. After you finish the student progression, you will need to get people to jump with you. Generally it's easy to do. Ocassionally, you have an odd day when your jump buddies are not around and everyone else is free flying when you are still learning belly flying. At a smaller DZ, it seems that when they fill the Cessna everyone works to try to do some sort of jump with whoever fit in the plane.
23. Cool, nice to know that they stand behind their product. It's sign of a good company. $6,500 is real money. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
24. In the Instructors forum, there is a person asking about getting a Tandem for their husband who has cancer. Although I am not a tandem instructor, I offered a few $$ and to help arrange something at my home DZ if possible. A member here on DZ.com PM'd me with some kind words and wondered why there is no skydiving organization that works with Make a wish foundation, etc. Is there such an organization? If not, could we make one? What do you see as the major hurdles to overcome before it could become real? i.e $$, liability, etc. I know that most DZ's do something for charity and we have JFTC. I think that it would be great to try to get affiliated with a major organization to help others and put a smile on some faces. Everyone could benefit. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
25. I have a few for you and your dad. I'm sure it's a tough time for both of you. All my best to both of you. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
