  1. If you are near NYC, I could try to arrange something at the Ranch for you. I'd be willing to put up a few $$ and I'm sure a few other skydivers would help out. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  2. Well, this weekend is the Daquiri party. It seems you picked a good day to come.
  3. Mdrejhon, I am not deaf; but, I took Scott Miller's class last year at the Ranch. I think it was a great class. Brian Germain was at our safety and he was a very nice and very patient guy. I can only comment about Scott's class since it was the only one I took. Scott usually runs several classes. Normaly, Fri, Sat and Sun. I don't think it would be much of a problem to sit in on the classroom portion on multiple days if you paid for a class. Scott seems very into making sure you get the information down. I would contact him at http://freedomofflight.tv/ Brian is a great classroom teacher and a nice guy. I just never took his class so I cannot comment about it. I have heard good things about it though. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  4. Will it still be cold that far north in July? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  5. I told the truth, I said rarely. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  6. I think I'll have to go up there. I always wanted to be on Skydivingmovies.com. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  7. So I'll have my B soon. I've visited a few DZ's and I've enjoyed them all so far. SO far I have visited Skydive Jersey Shore, Skydive Mesquite (it rained ), Skydive Las Vegas and Carolina Sky Sports. The plan is to get Crosskeys, Above the Poconos, Skys the Limit and perhaps Maytown (I want to try a static line jump). Anywhere else within a 3 to 4 hour ride of NYC? No worries about the jump planes, as long as they are safe, I'm happy. Just looking for fun people and places with nice views from the air. Just to answer a few questions: Yes I will bring beer I rarely fart in the plane I will probably do something silly for your video Yes you can post that video on the net I am perfectly happy sleeping at the DZ The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  8. So I am in the market for a new beater watch. You know, one for the DZ, jet ski, drunken incidents, etc. Any recommendations? I'm looking to spend around $100. Not concerned about digital or analog. It must be able to take a beating. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  9. I was there in Feb for 10 days and had a blast!! Get out of the Casinos for at least one day. There is the Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, A beautiful mountain (I forget the name), and Death Valley can easily be a day trip. You can fun jump a skydive Las Vegas. You might even be able to get a free ride there and back if you come in and go out in the van with the tandems. Oh yeah, ALWAYS SPLIT 8's. 10. Hey, don't worry about another newbie postin. You are a new skydiver. Enjoy and be safe.!! B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  11. I was at Carolina Skysports last weekend. I was visiting from NYC and the treated me like a king. Great place, great people, nice planes. I've never jumped anywhere else in NC; but, CSS is worth the trip. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  12. Save the $$$!! It is so hard to get $20k together. If you invest it now, it will go a long way toward your retirement in 35 years. I would spend $2k and invest/save the other $18k. In a few years that $18k will help you get a house or open a business. You need to make that money work for you. There is a tomorrow. You need to plan for it. Just like a plan a jump. Have a little fun with the $2k it's more than you had yesterday and it will buy a lot of jumps and beer. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  13. I'm going too!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  14. I might be tempted to go to Allentown if you guys go. Just need to find one of those old fashioned belly flyers to jump with me. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  15. I tried the stern talking to Derek, it just did not listen. Maybe I'll just leave it in the corner, give it a time out. The reserve is a 160. Good catch, I never really went over the registration after I filled it out. Sorry. Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  16. Don't forget to take out your hook knife. I had a TSA take mine. He was nice about it; but, it was still gone. Have fun. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  17. I was told that both are common. It just seems strange that they were all on the left side. I'm still opening high due to my jump nubmers/skill level so the spiral was started at about 3.5k and I was out of the line twists at 2.5k. I thought for a moment about chopping it if they did not come out right away. For piece of mind, I'll get it checked. I figure for the cost of having the canopy checked, I will have a little more comfort. Thanks for the reply. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  18. So the last 5 or 6 jumps my left end cell has been a little slow to open. I posted here and asked around and was told that it is fairly common and could be the result of several things, mainly packing. The end cells alwyas inflated with a slight pull on the left riser with no worries. This Sunday I was going to spiral down a little and after my first spiral to the left, the canopy spun into line twist. It has never done this before and I had done some aggressive spirals before. It was the very first spiral, so it was not that it spun up on the transition from right spiral to left spiral. I looked at it and the packer looked at it and we saw nothing. Obviously I am off to my rigger to have it checked. Anything else I could check before I get it up to my rigger? The canopy is a Safire 1 189 loaded about 1 to 1. It was relined at Icarus about 25 jumps ago. Canopy has about 600 jumps on it. Thanks, Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  19. Just a quick thanks to everyone at Carolina Sky Sports!! I had a lot of fun there Sunday. I only had time for 2 jumps and then had to run. From the first moment they made me feel welcome. They took me, my wife and Dad all around to show us the DZ. The PR woman (yes I am jerk, I for got her name) was wonderful. She was very nice to my dad and wife. It was really appreciated. All the jumpers made sure that I had someone to jump with and made for a great. Thanks again guy!! I'll be back soon. 20. I hope you don't mind a newbie posting on this thread. I am the newbie jumping with you guys. In the beginning I had the experienced person fly base and I would do various things with them. 360's focus on eye contact (old picture, new picture), forward, back and side movement and dock on side. So a basic jump would be right 360, back up, dock, left 360, slide right and dock on side of base, move back to front. I found that it is easier to plan only 2 or 3 moves to make a successful dive and add 1 or 2 bonus moves. Also I felt that is was easiest to do what ever I was having the most problems with as the 1st or 2nd move and have the dive get easier as it goes on. Oh and by the way, a big THANKS to all you guys who come to jump with the newbies. It really means a lot. Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  21. That's cool on so many levels. What is really great is that she was willing to do it. It has to take way more courage than when I made my tandem. I'm glad you both had fun. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  22. Hiedi, You are making me happy and sad. So happy to see you go out and take on a big adventure, sad to see you leave. Is you foot healed yet? Whichever DZ you stay at will be very lucky to have you visit. Heidi will bring a sense of calm and happiness to any DZ. All the best Heidi!! Naked Jumps

You are at the wrong DZ. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  24. Spoiled rotten??? I'm an Otter baby. I thought every DZ had 3 super Otters and a Caravan until a few months ago. And aren't all canopies supposed to open softly and on heading and nice and square?? Actually, thaanks for the advice. The old timers looked at my canopy and said there was no obvious damage. I'll try to be more consistent with my packing for now. Thanks for teh advice guys. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  25. The left end cell on my canopy (Safire 189) has been a little slow to open the last 2 jumps. Any ideas as to what the cause could be? The canopy has about 15 jumps since being re-lined at Icarus. I only have 45 jumps so packing could be an issue. I think my body position has been pretty good on opening. It always opens right up when I tug on the rear riser or pump the brakes a little. It flies fine, flares, and turns normally. And yes I will bring it to my rigger when I get to the DZ. Just curious if it was something that I was doing wrong. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
