First Tandem in Vegas this weekend...?'s
Brian425 replied to raleighwood's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Raleighwood, You can try calling Skydive Las Vegas 866-398-5867. I did a few fun jumps there in February and I had a good time. They are about 20 minutes from the srtip and they can pick you up at your hotel. They have 2 planes a cessna 206 and a Casa. Both are nice. They run a nice DZ and they views are great. You can see the Hoover Dam, Mt Charleston, the Strip and the desert. Have Fun. Tell them Brian from the Ranch says hello if you go there. You can reach the Ranch at 845-255-2252 or if there is no answer, call the school at (845) 255-4033. Manifest might not open until 4/2. (not too sure) I'm off Friday. Might head up.

Please god I hope it's not an 883. Oh yeah price of jump tickets. They will go up. It's just a matter of when and how much. In general I don't worry about it. It costs the DZO more for the fuel, gas for the short bus to pick us up when we land out, etc, etc, etc. We are still supplemented by the tandems. I don't mind a dollar or 2 increase. If they try to screw us and raise it $5, screw them. I'll learn base. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

PM me when you get here. I live in Brooklyn. I can hook you up with a ride to the Ranch. I might know a place or 2 to have a drink in the city also. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

The only thing I learned in this is that there are AFF instructors who will risk there life to save us. That instructor went well beyond what anyone could ask to save that jackass. It seems clear to me that the instructor went to take his hand off the cutaway handle. He still got ahold of it. Then he chases him WAY down to try to save him. Hats off to the instructor. If the rigger said it's ok, then do what you feel is right. I would trust the rigger opinion over mine every time. LOL Just want you to be safe. Can't have the nice ones getting hurt. See Ya, B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Hi, I not a rigger; but, I just want to ask you a few simple questions. Your re-pack is due 3/28/05 only 16 days away. Is it worth waiting until it's due? Your rigger (who looked at it) is concerned. Is it worth waiting until it'a due? 87% of the days until re-pack are past. You got $43 and change worth of value from your $50 re-pack. Is it worth it to wait until it's due? I know I'm a newbie; but, I think that you know that getting it re-packed is the way to go. Please be safe. Too many people have gotten hurt this year already. I only wrote this because I don't want you to get hurt. For a re-pack that is almost due, just get it re-packed. See Ya and Be safe. JTval, It's like watching any other sport. You are fans of a sport and you root for your guys. I was just in Vegas and at Mesquite for the Valentines boogie. Sorry I missed you. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Truex Jr wins, Kevin Harvick with his 3rd 2nd place finish this year. I think it was a fun race to watch. Hopefully the Nextel Cup cars will run it next year. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Hey Slappie, disagreeing is what makes life interesting. Nascar runs a road course at Watkins Glenn. True that some teams bring in a road course driver to run them. Just because the first race was a little different, I am happy with it so far. I wish they had brought the Nextel Cup guys there instead. Still a good start in my opinion. It is fun to see them try to turn right though. LOL The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

It was Busch cars. Still a good start. I understand your opinion; but, I disagree. I think it brings new people into the sport. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Wow, Liz!!! Makes me want to buy you a beer or something. See, us new guys don't even know enough to know all the reasons to buy stuff. Thanks!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

did you see the poor dog on the track!!! Oh my god. I hope he's ok. Just adds to the fun. LOL The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

I love F1 too!! Actually all racing. I think it is good to expand the race series. Montreal and Toronto would not be too far to go for a race for the Nascar guys. And with F1, Schumacher with last years car. Can he still win? At least be competitive until the new car comes? We will see. I think it's time someone really pushed Schumacher. It would make F1 more interesting. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

I'm actually excited to see this race. There are 9 Mexicans in the race. I think it's great that they are bringing the Busch series to Mexico. It's a country that is passionate about racing. And it's a road course. Good for Nascar for bring this race to Mexico. Hopefully Canada will be next. It would be great to see this race series to cover all of North America. John, I agree that you should not have to buy for every BS "first". I think that every real first should buy something. (if you have the $$) At the Ranch, there is always plenty of beer at the bonfire. It just appears. It's not always bought for firsts. It usually bought just for fun. If you are going to enjoy the tradition of a few beers at the end of a day of jumping, you should also enjoy buying your share. I am new to the sport. I found that it was easy to meet new people when you are sharing something. It's funny, the apple turnovers went over great. I had 2 old timers come over to me and thank me for bringing them. That led to the apple tree incident and a few laughs. At the Ranch, it seems that they are pretty lenient with the beer rules. If you don't have the $$, no problem. Buying a 6 pack or 2 is also fine. We all know this sport is expensive. It's just about making the effort. I guess it all comes down to be nice, share what you can and be safe. Chris, I have bought lots of things at the DZ. From apple turnovers from a special bakery (for my first jump after hitting the apple tree) to beer, water, cartons of cigarettes. The idea is not to buy beer. It's to get something that everyone will enjoy. I don't always buy beer because I usually have a 1.5 hour drive home. I always buy some thing. To me it's about sharing. Don't buy beer if you don't want to. But bring something every now and then. If your rigger saves your butt, you can find tons of things in the $20 range that would be nice to get them. It's nice to share. Plus we need to feed these college kids with no money. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Because I bought soo much beer on student status, that I feel compelled to stay and drink all the student beer. Actually, I really enjoy flying the canopy. It's funny, I enjoy freefall; but, I truly enjoy my time under canopy. I fly around in brakes and just take in the view. No super swoops, no CRW, just hang out with a smile on my face and enjoy it. Jose, Wow, thanks. That is exactly the kind of description I was looking for. I know about the housing. My budget would be about 800k + or - a little bit. When I sell my house, I would end up about even $$ wise. My 8 mile commute to work takes about 1 hour now (the joys of NYC). I have to see. I will be talking with them Thursday. If all goes well, either I will fly out or one of them will come to NYC. Who knows, we'll see what happens. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

How about a snake? Pretty easy to care for. Colorful, easy to feed. Don't smell too much. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

Have to see what country wide says. The home I think I can afford. If I sell my house, I would end up about even with a slightly larger home there. Any areas to consider to live? I would not mind an average commute of up to 1 hour each way. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
