My opinion is that they should figure out how many they can cope with in a reasonable time frame like a couple of weeks and then start accepting units for upgrade in reverse order of manufacture. That would get the newer units (the ones who have to wait the longest for repair) fixed first. It really bothers me that they're expecting their newest customers to wait the longest. Owned by Remi #?

The link I provided explains the estate tax issue. 2 women were a couple for 40 years and were legally recognized as a married couple in their home state of NY, but when 1 of them died, her spouse was forced to pay over 350,000 in estate taxes on her inheritance. You can't "make out a will" that prevents you from paying taxes to the government that you wouldn't have to pay if the government recognized your marriage. No, I'm not talking about "mail order bride" stuff. Lots and lots of people travel and work overseas and meet people in other countries and fall in love. The heterosexual ones have it a lot easier. It's utter bullshit to say that there's always a way to make it happen. Having to pay money for lawyers and court costs isn't an option that less fortunate homosexual couples have. Owned by Remi #?

The cost of maintaining gear is not fixed. It depends on how often it's jumped, how it's treated, the environment it's jumped in, the options you choose to install, etc. Having your own gear, under your control, so that you know how it's treated and maintained and exactly where all your handles are... now that's priceless. Not so long ago, your ultimate concern appeared to be losing a few dollars worth of glass and plastic that really don't stand as much of a chance of hurting anyone on the ground. I've walked more than a couple of bean / cornfields recovering cameras and helmets that were lost in freefall. They don't hit the ground all that hard. Look. If you're in a situation where your camera / helmet setup have contributed to a problem, you want to be able to solve that problem in the cleanest, safest way possible. A camera mount that will break off cleanly and / or a helmet with an effective cutaway system are the best choice. Adding ridiculously complex things like a spring loaded pilot chute to a camera helmet that add risk to every jump just so that you can save a few hundred bucks during a life or death malfunction is a really silly idea. Please sit down and think on that for a while. What will your wife be more upset about? Losing a camera and a piece of headgear or losing you? There's a reason that reserves are packed in freebags. Suit fabric choice is about fall rate adjustment, not freefall style. Choose an appropriate style of suit for the type of jumping you'll be doing, then choose the fabric to help give you a good, average range of fall rates so that you can stay with others in free fall. Make sense? For example, if you're a fast faller you would want to present softer, baggier material like polycotton to the relative wind.
