Hi there! Where in Ohio are you jumping? Oh, and ignore anyone who says that you're not a skydiver. You've jumped and you want more. That's all it takes to be a skydiver. Welcome to the sport. Owned by Remi #?

Read and tell me Obamacare doesn't SUCK for my company
labrys replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
Are you saying that you pay $2,200 dollars a year per employee for their health insurance? That's really, really low compared to the national average of about $12,000, with the average employee paying about $2,700 per year out of that. All I was trying to say is that for most average folks who pay $200-$250 a month for our share of the premiums, and for everyone out there who don't have insurance, whining about an additional 5 dollars per month per employee because you don't want to pass the cost along to them won't get you much sympathy. It's clearly your opinion that it SUCKS with all capital letters to have that additional 5 dollars per month per employee. I think that you're overreacting a bit. Some percentage of the taxes and fees that I pay to the government go for things I'm not happy about either, but I suck it up and send my feedback to my reps. And FWIW, I'm not Warren Buffet. I'm just a bithead at a sub 25 employee company. Owned by Remi #? -

That's bullshit. In your case, since you're providing 100% paid insurance (good for you, BTW), the worst thing you're being forced to do is ask your employees to pay about 5 dollars a month for their insurance to cover your additional costs instead of nothing. That's if you have 25 employees. Being asked to pay a couple of dollars a month far from sucks. I pay hundreds of dollars a month for my company health care. That doesn't suck either (to me). At least I have health care. You said you'd take care of your employees and that's great. What you should also do is provide constructive feedback to your legislators about what you see as the illogical stuff. It's impossible to write any large legislation that doesn't have errors , loopholes, and manages to cover every situation. Owned by Remi #? -

The article discussed the fact that the *manufacturer* couldn't sell directly to the public. Both the people who answered you explained why manufacturers face problems selling directly to the public. Neither one answered your question about *dealers* being able to sell directly to the public. That's the question I had. Where does anything in the article say anything about rules regarding who a dealer can sell to? Owned by Remi #?

Maybe she actually thought it would fit. You failed to do basic research like asking the harness size and checking with the manufacturer see see if they recommended that harness for someone with your measurements. Owned by Remi #? -
It's pretty simple to think this through. Loose clothing doesn't have to be a safety problem unless it runs the risk of falling off, entangling with your gear or covering your handles, right? If you're jumping alone, that's about it, but a lot of people think that solos get boring after a while. If you're jumping / free flying with others and your clothing meets the basic personal safety standards above, can you also stay on level with the people you're jumping with reliably and track well? Will the clothing you're wearing provide any protection if you have a nasty landing? Owned by Remi #?

He said it pissed him off and he ignored them. Not the most relaxed attitude to have, but how do you get that he gets nervous, unsure, or that it affects his skydive out of what he said? Owned by Remi #?

Well, yeah.. it broke in 1997. So far, it hasn't cascaded out of control and destroyed geo sat communications for the next 50,000 years. Owned by Remi #?

This isn't right at all. Geostationary birds are not "clustered", they're spaced around the equator at roughly 2 degree intervals all the way around the equator. 2 degrees seems small at ground level, but when you take that out 23,000 miles or so it's a significant distance. Galaxy 15 lost its mind after a solar flare a few years ago and went figure 8-ing around it's neighbors in a +/- inclined orbit. Big sky applied. Not that it couldn't have hit another satellite, but the odds were incredibly small. It eventually ran out of its safety margin fuel and "rebooted" as designed. If it hadn't, the worst case would have been a random collision with another bird in proximity. What you're suggesting is that 1 big sky anomaly would have a domino affect and any disrupted geosynchronous bird will then take out multiple neighbors. That's seriously silly. Analogy: Space 180 dominoes in a 360 degree circle. scale it to reflect the actual size of the domino(satellite... bout the same size as a school bus) compared to the distance between 2 points separated at 2 degrees 23000 miles away. I can't say what I would do as a rigger, but I know what I would do as a skydiver in that situation. If I was dropping my rig off with an unknown rigger I would ask to be notified of extra costs and consider it my responsibility to follow up with the rigger if I got an email, missed call, etc. If I dropped my rig off and then somehow became completely impossible to reach, I'd find a way to contact them instead. If I was unable to contact them and they did extensive work on my rig regardless, I'd be unhappy. Under the same circumstances with the rigger I've had a relationship with for the last ten years, I'd trust him to make a call for me. If I dropped off the face of the earth a few days before a competition / boogie / vacation and he made a $100 repair to my rig to make it airworthy, I'd either pay him or ask him if I could catch him after my vacation... And he wouldn't do the repair unless he was okay with the idea that I might have to pay him later. It's about skydiving. Owned by Remi #?
