  2. You know, a guy with 200-300 jumps who's asking for input on jumping a canopy at 1.5 wing loading deserves this approach. A guy with 800 jumps who's asking opinions about jumping a 150 at 1.5 W/L deserves some practical input. Owned by Remi #?
  3. I progressed from a Hornet 210 (very similar to Sabre2) to a Hornet 190 to a Sabre2 170 and felt the difference a little more each time. When I downsized to a Sabre2 150 the difference felt very much more significant, particularly on input responsiveness. I was at 1.4 on the 150. I was about 46 when I downloaded and had ~500 jumps. I put about 100 jumps on it and never got comfortable that I could downwind it into a tight out... and that was kind of a deal breaker for me at my canopy skill level... hard to tell for anyone else who may be a better pilot, etc. I traded it back for my 170. I'm a lot more comfortable on that. YMMV. Why not see if you can demo / borrow one before you commit? Owned by Remi #?

  5. I'm pretty sure you just posted the same exact jump from a different jumper's camera. Owned by Remi #?

  8. The odds that you'll need your reserve are orders and orders of magnitude higher that the odds that you'll need your AAD unless you're purposefully not pulling and counting on your AAD to do its job. You've got about a 1/1000 chance of a malfunction on every jump. Would you jump without a reserve? Most people get thousands of jumps over tens of years without every having really *needed* an AAD. Would you jump without an AAD? Owned by Remi #?
  9. Nope. You may be pointing out that some people who do not believe *and* who are interested enough to post here are passionate about enough about their opinions to participate, but... There could be millions of other people who don;t believe at all and couldn't care less about responding. Owned by Remi #?
  10. Yup, I wasn't assuming the OP wanted to do solos, just pointing out that solos can sometimes be the only option for getting in lots of jumps at some very busy DZs, and that's not always optimal at sub-50 jump numbers. Just an observation and an attempt at advice. The prickly response wasn't necessary Owned by Remi #?
  11. Sometimes those 2 things conflict with each other. If a DZ is very busy with tandems and students, it can be hard to get a slot unless you want to do a bunch of solos filling in the last slot on a load. Solos are great and should be a part of your jump plan right now, but doing too many solos at your level may cause you to burn in some bad habits. You should be looking for people with 5-10x times your jump numbers or so and learning small way skills with people who can give you positive feedback and coaching. Owned by Remi #?

  14. No problem. It's also worth pointing out that even if you *did* somehow get your alti stuck on your reserve handle, you could probably still pull down and deploy. Way different than having your PC wrapped around your wrist. Owned by Remi #?
  15. The reserve handle is less likely to entangle with a altimeter (no hackey, bridle, or PC to snag). It's also accessible with either hand. Owned by Remi #?

  17. If you really only have 2 jumps, don't worry about this effect yet. You need to focus on your dive flow during the blue umbrella part and have your canopy open before you get to the green bowl part. Owned by Remi #?
  18. Spoken like a guy who has absolutely no idea how real gear emergencies can actually play out. If you don't understand that there are circumstances that make pulling a reserve handle next to impossible (soft handle tucked under MLW, floating handle, rigging issues, randomness) and that having an RSL as a backup has true value, then you're the guy who shouldn't be jumping. There are valid reasons for people who have specific gear considerations to not have an RSL. Not understanding potential problems is NOT one of them. Seriously. Owned by Remi #?
  19. I've had it happen between gear checking a student after first dressing them and gear checking them again before boarding. 10 minutes with nothing unusual going on in between. I reckon anything can cause that. Owned by Remi #?

  22. Jesus... that isn't remotely what I posted about. Someone asked what "higher level of integration" meant and I responded with what the semiconductor industry usually means when they use that phrase. Then I said that I didn't know for sure that Airtec meant the same thing... How the fuck does that translate into me suggesting that they are lying? Owned by Remi #?
  23. Send an email or call Chutingstar.com. Tell them what you said here. They'll help you figure it out. They can inspect the gear, give you an honest estimate, and probably even help you sell it to someone appropriate. Owned by Remi #?
