It appears that that part of the video has been edited out subsequent to the original post so that it won't bother anyone else. Owned by Remi #?

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say: "both instructors lose aff student" I'm not an AFFI, but I have wondered what the best response to a situation like that would be. I've never gotten around to asking someone at my DZ if there is a protocol to follow when a student is open that high. The post Tom made above seems like the most rational response to me but as stated..I'm not trained. Would someone wearing a relatively high performance canopy have a chance of staying close enough to the student to provide any assistance? Do any DZs teach students to look for and/or follow an instructor under canopy if they deploy high? Should AFF instructors consider lighter wind loadings in case they find themselves in this situation with a student or is it so rare that it would be more an impediment on most jumps? To answer the question in a little more detail: Even if you cutaway and then pull the reserve handle with the main pin closed the skyhook will not interfere with the reserve deployment. Owned by Remi #?

well.... So a penguin is driving down the road and just outside this little town his car breaks down... He calls for a tow truck and then gets a ride into town to wait to find out what's wrong. While he waits he gets a huge bowl of ice cream and crams it in as fast as he can.. little flippers shoving it in..... Then the tow truck driver comes in and says... "It looks like you've blown a seal" And the penguin says.... "No, I swear... it's just vanilla ice cream" Owned by Remi #?

Is it more or less serious than salsa dancing? It has to be a little less serious than eating shellfish or working on Sunday and a little more serious than selling a close relative into slavery to work up that good ol' Taliban sense of "do as I say to save your soul" buzz, eh? Owned by Remi #?

Two things helped me conquer the door demon. The first doesn't really classify as a suggestion, but it shares an experience. I got a little too enthusiastic on a diving exit when I had just been licensed and cracked my forehead against the bar on the way out of an Otter. My head whipped back while the rest of me kept exiting. I landed on my tailbone on the edge of the door then rolled out totally out of control. I processed that falling out wasn't a big deal, it was the goal. A little more grace was the next goal. :-) The door wasn't as important after that. The thing that really killed my door fear was the first jump I made after a winter lay-off. Instead of feeling anxiety when the door opened I smelled that awesome, clean, free, charged blast of cold, beautiful sky and looked at the door as a gateway to being surrounded by all those things. Eh... I'm a liberal and I work with the police every day....and I like my job and the people I work with. Most of the cops I know are good people and a few are dicks. Same goes for the people I've met skydiving. Owned by Remi #?

I've never met Deuce or talked to him but I do have a story to share: When I first started jumping, I posted here asking for a picture of what it looked like in a crowded Otter because a friend of mine had asked what the plane ride was like. One of the mods suggested that I ask Deuce, but before I could PM him he posted a pic from Eloy. With someone I knew on the load...wearing my rig (I'd recently bought it from him) Skydiving is a small, small world. Blue Skies, Deuce. Owned by Remi #?

There isn't a thin line at all. Accepting risk is not the same as knowing something will kill you. If the fatality rate in skydiving was 100% very, very few people would do it. I'm okay with the idea that I might die jumping. I'm not okay with the idea that I will die jumping. Should I sell my gear? Owned by Remi #?
