  1. 3 years plus and skyride is still alive. What can this thread do about skyride? Owned by Remi #?
  2. Check out my new "Hulk suit" I bet I can hide a base rig under this and sneak into the Empire State Bulding and....well..... ummmm...... you know Owned by Remi #?
  3. Ummm..... where are the four nose cells? Is that the center cell and the 2 cells on the right and the left plus a random cell on either the right or the left? Owned by Remi #?
  4. It's a biggie when they stay in the closet and take an anti-gay stance in office. There's no way to resolve the ethical issues. If they vote against gay rights related stuff because their constituents want them to, it's pretty damned likely that their constituents would not have voted them into office if they were out. 10. IMO, If they swoop heavily loaded canopies regularly they have every right and reason to choose not to turn on their AADs if the AADs are not designed for swooping. Even if they use AADs designed for swooping they get to choose. I don't interpret it as machism. It's a personal choice. Owned by Remi #?
  11. BLM smoke jumpers use ram airs and USFS smoke jumpers use rounds. Do the BLM jumpers jump more often? http://www.fs.fed.us/fire/people/smokejumpers/redding/history.html "During the 1970s, the Bureau of Land Management smokejumpers in Alaska began experimenting with Ram-Air style parachutes. Until this time, all smokejumpers used the round-style parachute, similar to that used by Army paratroopers. The Ram-Air system proved suitable for flat terrain and high winds encountered on the Alaska tundra, and was adopted by the Bureau of Land Management in the early 1980s." Owned by Remi #?
  12. Resist the urge to dive into the hoop at break-off time if you happen to be "right there" Break off as planned. I watched 2 people both jam themselves together in a hoop at break-off trying to get through at the last second. Owned by Remi #?
  13. Same here. I apologise for the mistake about planform difference. Same here again. I've taken the basic course twice and the advanced once and wouldn't hesitate to repeat either one again. Owned by Remi #?
  14. I've only visited once. It was early June and the wind usually started edging up to around 25 mph around noon. I got there early in the morning and didn't have any problems getting a few jumps before it got too windy for my taste. Owned by Remi #?
  15. I "got out" on all of mine, so I didn't get any "in" 1 fun 6 way 5 fun coaching jumps 1 f%&k this shit i hate this particular canopy so it gets a vacation.... buh bye. Owned by Remi #?
  16. You're already well over the manufacturer and USPA recomendations for wingloading with your experience level and if you're truly going from a Navigator to a Sabre2 you're changing planforms and down-sizing at the same time... also not recommended. When I got my first gear I went from a Nav220 to a Hornet 210, also downsizing and changing planforms at the same time. I justified my choice by keeping my wing loading way under the recommendation. My instructors thought it was a good choice for me. If I had been as far over on wingloading as you are I would not have done it. Your profile says your currently jumping a Safire2. Is that new information? Edit to add: I jump at Sabre2 and think it's a great canopy. I also think they're great first canopies when they're chosen at the right wingloading, but I'd never actually recommend a canopy to anyone at my experience level. I'd refer them to people with more experience than I have. Owned by Remi #?

  19. A couple of years ago I landed in a fenced(electric) in pasture. As I'm gathering up my gear a guy on the other side walks over with a ladder and offers it to me saying it's a pretty good distance to a gate. I took off my gear and handed it over the fence to him, climbed the ladder, then realized I was going to have to jump off the top. Almost coudn't do it. While I "obviously" worked up the nerve to jump off the ladder the guy stared at me, then at my gear, then at the sky, then back at my gear..... then back at the ladder. Owned by Remi #?
  20. Sure, I get that. What I don't get is why these guys chose to respond with hostility instead of just ignoring it or asking for more information. I have to add this: The OP gave a first name and the name of company they worked for and also explained in pretty clear words what they wanted and why they were here. What more information would you have liked them to give? How is this poster any more anonymous than anyone else here? I kind of doubt they had a clue what to put in their profile, it's mostly skydiving related. Is it really understandable to suggest someone jump out of a plane with no rig because they didn't list a home DZ and a wingloading? Owned by Remi #?
  21. So... when someone offers an oportunity that might present a chance to explain the reasons whuffos and skydivers sometimes experience strife in home life, and possibly even present it in a way that makes other whuffos sympathetic, everyone grabs pitchforks and lights torches? And then they bitch more about the negative press. Owned by Remi #?
  22. Ummmm...It's a dog. A DOG. It's not a child. It's not like 99% of all the stray dogs in the world wouldn't be better off in a cardboard box with a homeless guy sharing the night's dumpster dive treasures because at least then it has a packmate and a snack. Owned by Remi #?

  25. Wow, that's pretty "boot camp." Was that because you were expected to get somewhere to debrief as soon as possible? Owned by Remi #?
