I think that a person's organs and other body parts belong to them exclusively unless they have given explicit consent to donate them. Taking them without permission is a huge violation of rights. I do agree that it would be helpful if more people took the time to register as organ donors, but I totally disagree with the idea that just because there is a shortage, it's okay for the government to assume consent. I'm don't know all the requirements, but the IOC is claiming that there are not enough participants and that they haven't met the requirement of having had at least 2 world championships prior to being admitted. Their first WC won't be held until 2009. Owned by Remi #?

It isn't about rights, it's because they don't meet the technical requirements for a sport to be included. Owned by Remi #?

I agree with the IOC as well. It's awesome that he's able to race, but it does seem unfair to the other runners. WRT the women's ski jumping, why isn't it reasonable for the IOS to exclude a sport is underdeveloped and that hasn't met the basic requirements of the charter? Owned by Remi #?

http://www.maycontainnuts.com/x You're looking pretty good for a guy who's been jumping for 20 years..... Or is that a random pic you found? Or what? Owned by Remi #? -
I'll remember that. Don't forget now that you're wearing a rig... and rigs have reserve handles... and well... accidents happen. Next time you pack me a reserve repack, you're getting one too. Owned by Remi #?

Focus thought from a couple of other threads. Forget landing in parking lots, vinyards, back yards, alligator farms, or live fire ranges. If you've landed in both corn and soy beans (fully grown) which is worse in your opinion? I'd take corn any day over beans. My reasons from another thread: Owned by Remi #?

Beans are tougher than they look, harder to gage the height, and really, really "sticky" (they grab you, your lines, your canopy and hold on for dear life). Everything that touches them gets sucked in. The plants are bushy and planted close together. When they're mature its almost impossible to land between rows. The tops of all the plants are tangled together. Landing in mature beans almost always guarantees a face plant when they grab your feet. If you're able to flare a little high and time it right, you can sink into them. At that point in the season they're usually about waist high. I'd never attempt sinking in without planning a plf because you have no idea what's under the canopy, and plfing in beans means you're about to spend a lot of time getting the fuckers out of your gear and lines. Corn hurts a little, but its much easier to time the flare and it doesnt grab your shit anything as badly as beans do. Owned by Remi #?

Ever jumped into soy beans? Those things are evil. Corn is just a pain in the ass. Our landing area is surrounded by both and I'd pick the corn over the beans. Owned by Remi #?

I wore a full face from about 30 jumps to about 350 then started switching between full face and open. I discovered that the full face had actually allowed me to get away with at least one minor bad habit - not keeping my chin up and my mouth shut

I'm going to guess that you haven't been involved with too many expensive sports. Do you have any idea how much a good motorcycle costs? Or a sailboat? Tons of people find the money to ride bikes and sail. A lot more people find money to do these things than skydive. I'm really skeptical that cost of gear is the deciding factor in skydiving. I think that the people who would be attracted to the sport when a device makes it safer are the people who will voluntarily use the device. I don't see the need to make it mandatory. Owned by Remi #?

Aerodyne used to have them in the support section of their website. I'm not sure if they still do. Edit to add: They still do. http://www.flyaerodyne.com/download/HORNET.PDF Owned by Remi #?

Don't you think it would also be reasonable to say that if instability with a camera helmet can kill someone with 3000 jumps, and arguably more situational awareness and ability, that it would be a lot more likely to kill someone with 80 jumps? IMO, recommended jump numbers aren't designed to guarantee doing something won't kill you, they're designed to move people into the shorter ends of the bell curve. Unfortunatley, whether you have 80 jumps or 3000 the bell curve never closes. Owned by Remi #?

It's true that there isn't a written "rule" that you can't jump a camera helmet at 50 jumps, but there are recommendations. Those recommendations came into exisitance because camera helmets have killed people. If you honestly don't think a camera helmet can kill you, you're only reinforcing that you don't have enough experience to wear one. Owned by Remi #?
