  6. Tell me about it, 27 years of this shit and I'm wasted on it. My husbands only been here 6 so I have to wait for him to get sick of it first AZ looks better every day.... Jen Arianna Frances
  7. ooh - then I could be an event jump too? CO here I come! Jen Arianna Frances

  10. Yes they are - because the help is leaving without them. Spend some time on cnn.com today, reading the stories. Specifically you should listen to the mayors rant to the local radio station - it will open your eyes. I haven't cried this much in years. The majority of the people are scared, nothing more. What you describe is a very small majority of the people involved here. Can you imagine what your life would be like if you suddenly had nothing - no family, no house, no nothing? Then suddenly your bused off somewhere with people you don't know and you don't know what to expect. Reminds me of WW2 concentration camp refugees actually. If I wasn't so far away I would be donating as much time as I can. Seeing as your in a city that is now trying to help why don't you do something to help? I donated my pay check this week - it hardly seems like enough. Jen Arianna Frances
  11. I can understand you have it hard there, but I think you need perspective: http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/09/01/Katrina.superdome.ap/index.html Jen Arianna Frances
  12. The police caught up with them about 5 blocks away - pulled them over for speeding and a chase ensued.... thankfully the car was undamaged. Woo Hoo! That'll show 'em Jen Arianna Frances
  13. jeepers creepers Don't worry about them, they're obviously small minded. Well, if thats what it takes to get 'loved' by your neighbors I guess I'll always be an outcast. I keep to myself for many reasons - one of which being that my mother in law's corvette was stolen from her garage last year by her 'loving' next-door neighbor Jen Arianna Frances
  14. I love it when Senators come back with "...trust me...". http://demo.ripside.com/fark/Anderson-Cooper-Landrieu-Katrina.wmv Jen Arianna Frances
  15. You'll have to let me know how Madera is - I'll be there over Christmas Jen Arianna Frances
  16. Since this is really the first time in more than 25 years something like this has happened in the US I doubt you will find experience people who know what to expect? You should call the Dz rather than post that question here. Jen Arianna Frances
  17. I think Pompeii is a poor comparison considering that the technology did not exist to fully understand what could happen. While, the technology did exist and the Army Corp of Engineers (I used to work for a member of it) had numerous reports of why the levees were bad, yet they were still made because, at the time NOLA was a hot bed of money for the state of LA (and still is was until Sunday). Lots of commerce happened there... It's a shame when money comes before the value of human life. Jen Arianna Frances
  18. bingo Guess people who have kids (and cute ones at that ) are better at putting stuff into simpler words than me Jen Arianna Frances
  19. hmm.... you don't agree? How long have you lived here? Jen Arianna Frances
  20. I think you're missing the point. Joe Bob Smith is crying in the street.... typical american "Wow, sucks to be Joe Bob Smith. But since I don't know him all I can do is feel sorry for him. Much the way I did for those people with the tsunami" Fats Domino goes missing.... typical american "Wow, I grew up listening to him. Man, I love his music! He's gone missing? Danm, must be a horrible thing going on down there if a guy with all that money can't get out of there" See now? Americans, on a whole, are stupid. Jen Arianna Frances
  21. Whoever it was who 50 years ago decided putting those levees in place was a good idea The LA gov, who despite warnings as much as 50 years ago that building such a big city BELOW sea level was a bad idea, and still went through with it. Guess they don't think that was such a hot idea now huh? Jen Arianna Frances
  22. This might have something to do with it: Jen Arianna Frances
  23. Would you want the DZ to lose money? Think about it - if they have to buy gas for what would equate $23 per jumper per load - would you get angry if they asked you to pay that or would you pitch a bitch about the advertised price of $15? Big deal! Jen Arianna Frances
  24. Well, not everyone is able to freely donate time. Getting compensated for work (and its very hard work) is nothing to be ashamed of. This brings up a good point though. After what I saw as wasteful spending on the part of the red cross after the club fire in RI a few years ago - I no longer donate to them but to other organizations that are local to the areas affected. Jen Arianna Frances
