Organization helping the animals of Hurricane Katrina
mailin replied to skycat's topic in The Bonfire
I was just going to post this! http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/animal_environ/hurricanes/ This is a good place to start - lots of places to donate. I made my donation specifically to the Louisianna SPCA. Wish I could do more Jen Arianna Frances -
We lock in every year. Best to do it in the summer. Jen Arianna Frances

Oh thats so sad Andrea... But you stopped to help him - he must have been so thankful someone offered to help him. Thats the best thign you could have done for him. So many people don't even stop It breaks my heart to think of the animals torn from families by the storm... I want to hop on a plane and run down there and save them all You did a good deed today - even if it didn't have the desired result. Helping the little creatures is a very noble act. Selling them isn't hard. They really do sell themselves. Hell, I sold 5 of them just because they sat on my desk at work - and there are only 7 people in my office. The problem is that many people are selling them to the wrong people - they're selling them to skydivers when they're already hammered to death by about 5 other girls who are also selling calendars - Mary saw that reaction when she was at Rantoul. The key is to hit up people outside of skydiving. One very smart cookie did something particularly unorthodox. She didn't set a price for her calendars and instead took donations - she was getting MANY times what we asked her to sell them for, and got all of it from family and friends. There are many ways to do it, you just have to try. Jen Arianna Frances

I didn't stick around but the ice luge did look like fun I was actually worried that the landing would be tough - but its actually hard to not land on that airport. You guys have a good set up there - I'll be back. I'd love to see pictures! Jen Arianna Frances -
Hey Amanda, You can't go wrong with Jumptown - in Orange, MA. There are tons of instructors and lots of good people to jump with. Check out their website at: www.jumptown.com Diane is the manager and she usually answers the phones during the week - she's super helpful and can give you lots of info. Good luck! www.nightmaresx.com edit to add: I would love a place like this!! I used to love going to Spooky World but I don't think it'll be around this year. Jen Arianna Frances -
Hey Joe, Talking loud isn't necessarily a Boston thing. I was born and raised in Dorchester (I'm Irish - gee what gave it away ). My husband comes from a large italian family and grew up in Fresno, CA. He talks so loud that I've been known to run and hide when in public And never mind getting him and several male members of his family in the same room - go forbid, you'd think it was world war 3 but they're just having a heated conversation I like to travel, but its usually for no more than a week or two so I can't form any real concrete opinions of places - but I did live in Texas for 9 months when I was attending a university near Dallas. I left for a few reasons, biggest one being that I was never treated very well. I'm a pretty quiet girl but when I get comfortable some place I'm pretty outgoing and not the type to make confrontation. I never made friends with anyone in the 9 months I was there - and it wasn't for lack of trying. I just happened to find that many of the girls in my dorm (to add insult to injury I was put in the only all girls dorm on campus!) were there to get their MRS degrees (they were only there to find a guy to marry). I had essentially separated myself from my family and for all intents and purposes was on my own, supporting myself. It left me longing to go home where I felt people understood me more. I wanted to be surrounded by people I understood - so I went home, got an apartment and started going to school nights (changing my major). I'm constantly on my husbands case to move somewhere else (I hate the cold weather ) but in reality, my trip to TX makes me very worried that I'll never feel comfortable outside of New England. For all its faults there is something to be said about staying with what you know and are comfortable with. I'm sorry you're having such a rough time - I can completely relate, I've been in your shoes; only I wasn't as strong... I came running home Jen Arianna Frances

Hey - I like that idea! Jen Arianna Frances

That's not what she said in an interview I saw on TV last spring... she didn't give specifics but said that she has many ideas for continuing with the HP story line for as long as she can sustain it... I hope its true! Jen Arianna Frances

The last one was such a change from the other books that its bound to disappoint people who were looking for her to finish this point in the characters life. The fact that its not going to do what would be typical is really interesting me. I'm excited to see where it goes - its so open right now that I could easily see this dragging on for as many as 12 more books! I really hope another one comes out soon! I need my " 'Arry Potter" fix Jen Arianna Frances

: 2 : 2 Went to Skydive Long Island's CASA Boogie; even met up with some people from my home DZ, which I wasn't expecting at all. Beer owed for first jumps there and first jumps out of a CASA. Dragged hubby with me and we camped out at a local campground. I'm glad i did as I heard the party crowd at the DZ kept everyone awake and the showers were cold Weather was crappy on Sunday so we did the outlet mall and the beach while waiting for our Ferry back to CT, which was a great way to spend the day Jen Arianna Frances

Training for when you're not in the air.
mailin replied to AlexCrowley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Alex The best thing you can do i the off season is jump. Seriously. The cessna still goes up in the winter (although I was chicken and made several trips to FL instead ) and tickets to FL were cheap enough that I made 40 jumps in the 'off season'. As they say - every problem you have isn't one that can't be solved with 1000 jumps Just jump - no harder than that! Jen Arianna Frances -
I'm blaming DZ.com... over the last 18 days I have lost sleep, concentration and jumps to Harry Potter. I'm managed to read all 6 books and am now looking for more. Its like a crack fix, I need more! Must have more! *looking around the room manicly* They're so incredible - best series I've read in ages. The last one finishes in such a way that its left open for lots of room for the series to grow - can't wait to see where it goes. Thanks alot DZ.com Jen Arianna Frances

I only get to do it cause of my Sugar Daddy Jen Arianna Frances

I left my degree with 0 debt because my employer(s) paid for my classes. I had 3 jobs during my time in school. All of them had the same policy. 100% reimbursement (minus books from one job) Grade of atleast a C no time table to stay after course 3 years sucks!! Jen Arianna Frances

$4k+ on my rig $2k+ on the new Bose surround sound system Its alot of money, but most definitely worth every penny! Jen Arianna Frances

Zoe Bars and Lara Bars are really good (with the later being my favorite). They have flax in them which is a great source of omega's - and enough fiber that one bar fills you up all day. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. Otherwise, CLIFF bars are the best! Jen Arianna Frances

Ditto I'm happy to hear things are going so well for you right now - you deserve it!

omg - cross keys is great ain't it? I don't care that it takes 6 hours to get there. My most productive and fun jumps have been there, the people are FANTASTIC - I love that place!!! Jen Arianna Frances
