  1. Only part of the elastic gave way which created a snag point -actually on mine the hackey had gone through the slipped elastic and if I attempted to pull it would essentially have been locked in by the elastic that was no longer attached to the pouch. Jen Arianna Frances
  2. Sounds like it could be very easy - depending on complexity. I'm in the middle of a project doing something similar for the medical community with a completely SQL back-end. But I'm sure there are programs that already do these things. I've never done manifesting before but I know my DZ is all computer automated, so I imagine it's being done already. Jen Arianna Frances
  3. umm... no, don't think so - who's gonna hold the cameras? Jen Arianna Frances
  4. You need 25 jumps to get an A and tandems count too! I had 5 tandems before I started AFF, so I only needed to pass all the requirements and complete 20 jumps. Not trying to be a bad influence, I know how the money situation can be - just be sure to ask for me when you get there, I'm around most weeends if my family lets me Jen Arianna Frances
  5. nah - too much liability for me in that statement already Jen Arianna Frances
  6. Well if you do make your way out to Orange to do another tandem (or AFF) be sure to tell manifest to find me - I'd love to say 'hi!' to ya. If your waiting until next year to start AFF, try and do a tandem in October - its so beautiful out in Orange when the trees start changing. I did my first fall jump (tandem) at Orange in 2003 and was just awe struck at the view. You'll like it there - I promise
  7. ooh la la! I'd like to be on a deserted island with him! Wowza!! Me likey! Jen Arianna Frances
  8. One thing I've learned in my brief time in this sport is that if you have questions you need to ask - you need to be specific and ask. As you know it can be a life or death issue and if you have questions about it, ASK! If you felt your instructor didn't answer your question fully, then ask again. The more questions you ask them, the more they can teach you. Really. We're not trying to be rude, but getting too much outside information can be a very bad thing when you're a student - what works for an experienced person does not always work for a student. Ask your instructors - by doing that you can never go wrong Jen Arianna Frances
  9. there's your answer Arianna Frances
  10. You should be asking these questions to your instructors. As a student they are the only people who should be answering these questions. Jen Arianna Frances
  11. Chances are pretty good you wouldn't be able to finish A jumps in one week in New England - none of the dropzones in the area fly enough loads with enough staff to do that. Jumptown is the only DZ in New England that I know of that has so many AFF qualified instructors - so much so that many people were being directed from Pepperell to Jumptown because Pepperell just didn't have enough instructors. We had two students who finished their A jumps in 2 weeks this summer - and they both have well over 100 now. Jumptown would be were I would suggest you doing your training. I only wish that I had the opportunity to do it there, because it is a VERY thorough program and you always have coaches to jump with. The vibe is amazing compared to the other new england DZs and next season promises to be most exciting as they are getting all new facilities and will be the most advanced training center in new england. The landing areas are huge and the guys on radio are really good. You can't go wrong there - seriously. I've jumped at 8 different DZs and have yet to see one do AFF like Jumptown. The first jump course literally lasts all day - cause once your done with the jump you get more and more training - I'm still in awe at it all. Did my first tandem at Pepperell too, great place!
  12. I have it. Like it. But... havng said that, the elastic at the mouth did give away partially on jump 58 and if another jumper didn't notice it the pilot chute wouldn't have left the container Took just a minute to re-sew it, but it was definitely an eye-opener for careful inspection of your entire container. Jen Arianna Frances

    Back to School

Hey, I did it last year Worked out great for me, had lots of time to skydive and winter break meant travellin'... but the only way I could do it was because someone in the household was bringing in money - without that it would have been tough to even get by. I think you'd be great for it though - sounds like a career change may be great for you
