Thats a given now that neither one of us needs to go to FL anymore But since they'll be opening one by me this summer I doubt I'll have too much reason to travel, but you can be sure I get out to CO at least once in the next year to play Will we finally get a chance to play together instead of watching each other? Then you are missing the point. Try listening to Miles Davis - Kind of Blue, first on vinyl and then 'digital'. Hell, I even have it in surround sound (5.1), and I'll still take vinyl. *sigh* Don't let the sound be wasted, really really listen. Jen Arianna Frances

Rick Wakeman's journey to the center of the earth - fantastic, um... alternate reality... album Hubby and I got a new stereo last year and spent a ridiculous amount of money on our turn table - it sounds incredible! We bought the Foo Fighters new double album (on vinyl obviously) to celebrate. Vinyl just sounds better than regaular CDs. DVD-A/5.1 or 6.1 surround, well, nothing beats that. Brought out some old Jazz records last weekend - Jaco Pastorius (I think it came out on vinyl first - 1979) sounds so much better on a platter than CD Ya, I'm a geeky audiophile... Holy shit! Actor Chris Penn found dead!
mailin replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in Speakers Corner
I think you need to re-read what I said. "...and disgracing a dead man and his family..." Arianna Frances -
Not that I'm trying to start an argument, but would your take on this be different if an adult was in the car with her? Like I said, whenever I was in the car with my mom or dad I was always driving - although we don't know the specifics it sounds like this accident wasn't her fault and could have happened no matter who was driving. I think its premature to blame the parents - the only thing they are guilty of at this point is not being in the car with a driver who only had a learners permit. At age 15 I had my own babysitting company and frequently watched my neighbors kids - 4 under 6. It sounds like many of the children in the car were close to the drivers age, thusly doubtful to be a really stressful situation for her. Jen Arianna Frances

Not that I'm advocating that this was legal in anyway, but when I had my learners permit and was in the car, I was always driving - granted it was with a parent in the car. Plus, from the description it doesn't sound like the child caused the accident. Jen Arianna Frances

I think you need to realize that there are only a few things in this world you control, and the actions of another person are NOT one of those things. You can, however, control how you feel and act about something - and disgracing a dead man and his family after the news of his untimely demise speaks volumes about your character. this was probably the best quote: On the witness stand, Hatch claimed that he had put $350,000 of his Survivor winnings to cover taxes, but that an investment firm had embezzled the money. He said he didn't sue the firm because "I didn't care. It wasn't a priority." um... if somebody embezzled $350,000 of my money you better be sure it would become a priority, real quick... Huh? I jump a 190... doesn't take me an hour to pack. It did in the begining, until I learned how to do it. Learning how to pack will give you a better understanding of how your gear works, which could help you understand a bit more about this line twist problem you are having. Jen Arianna Frances

Seizure in Wind tunnel....should they do the real thing
mailin replied to trekker945's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Most states have a 6 month rule when it comes to driving. You have to be 6 months seizure free to drive... skydiving is MUCH more dangerous than driving! He would be endangering his life and the life of anyone he skydives with if he should have a seizure on a skydive. If he can get a doctor to say, confidently, that he will NEVER have another seizure - skydiving would be a go. But if any doctor would issue that statement, I'd be weary of their motivation. There are several different types of seizures also - light sensitive seizures are very very difficult to control. If it turns out that he has a light sensitive seizure disorder there will be much more in his life he will be worried about - skydiving will not be one of them. Just going outside will be a major hassle. I can completely empathize with being told you can't participate in something, but having a seizure disorder can be a MAJOR safety hazard. He'll need testing to assure that he doesn't have seizure activity (I think its called an EEG), and then he'll be put on medication that will take MONTHS to adjust to. If I were in his shoes I wouldn't even think about setting foot on a dropzone, let alone get in a jump plane. Seriously, sorry it happened but from your description it was a MAJOR seizure and he lost all control of his body. If that happened on a skydive he could kill other people. Stay on the ground. woah - thats kewl!

I really enjoyed the movie - twisted history a little bit and added stuff for dramatic affect, but it was very good. Eventually the nightmares go away Jen Arianna Frances

good to know - thanks for the heads up. I won't be trying this one then. For a free service its pretty cool (when it works), but not if I have to give up any of my personal info. Hope they finally fixed the bugs. Jen Arianna Frances

Funny, I was just having this conversation with my husband yesterday. He works for a major investment firm, as a computer programmer. He designs programs that 'advisors' use to sell this companies mutual funds to the general public. He has no access to the companies financial information or any real way to access critical information. That information is actually kept in a data warehouse somewhere else in the country (not even in our region). When he was hired for the job they ran a criminal background check and credit check. At the time we were fighting an error on our credit reports (actually we still are ) that had a charge-off on an old car loan, in error. It had very negatively affected our reports and we were very worried that it would somehow make him ineligible for employement. It didn't, but when he was hired he got a letter from HR for 'credit counseling' Why would that information now be made available to HR? Jen Arianna Frances

Actually, in the story I read she did not want the animal put down. The people that owned the dog had recently moved to the neighborhood (about 4 months after the owners of the cat), and had adopted the dog from a local rescue. The woman that owns the cat wants them to return the dog to the rescue so he can be adopted by someone who has a better living situation for the dog. This woman is perfectly in her right to be 'afraid' of this dog. She has 3 remaining cats that, although I don't agree with this, she allows outside - it was one of the reasons she moved to that farm, to allow her animals to run free. She also has a son under 1 year. The dog has been restrained to the owners back yard but has escaped on numerous occassions - to which the owners have been fined. This woman is worried about the dog killing her other cats or hurting her infant son; a very valid concern if you read how her cat was killed - the autopsy revealed it was ripped off of a tree (shredded claws), ribs broken and lung punctured; sounds pretty violent to me. She attempted to speak to the owners about their dog in an attempt to peacefully (meaning no lawsuit) come to an agreement but the owners of the dog said simply "this is what dogs do, kill cats". I wouldn't accept that answer, and I'm glad she didn't either. Although I don't agree with lawsuits in every instance, I believe in this case it is just as the owners of the dog are not taking the responsability they should. The DNA aspect of it is pretty interesting too - it's not like she asked the state to pay for it, her and her husband paid more than $500 to have it analyzed. Jen Arianna Frances

Why haven't you gotten your B license?
mailin replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
*Hi Rob!* I don't have the motivation to take the exam for my B because I don't feel that the new privledges you get with your B are worth it - I'd go straight for my C instead. If staying consistantly current was a major issue for me I would probably have my B, but since I have no interest in night jumps I won't stress over it. That may change at some point, I dunno - but it's not a priority for me right now. Jen Arianna Frances -
heh, I think they may need it more than me I just hate that I tried very hard to be a good friend to someone and now they are turning my good intentions around to try and stab me in the back and make me look bad to others. I hate learning lessons this way If I was in an ass kicking mood I'd have fun... Jen Arianna Frances

What happened to giving the benefit of the doubt? What happened to looking for the good in people? Why do people suck so bad? If someone can answer these questions, you're on a hot streak and should buy some lottery tickets! Jen Arianna Frances

I know your in the Boston metro area, so I'm sure you'll fly out of Logan, but you can get non-stop from Providence (far better for travel convenience IMO, even when I lived in Foxboro) to Pheonix on Southwest - I think we paid about $200 pp/roundtrip. Have fun Jen Arianna Frances
