  1. Hehe. When you get a bit older the money factor becomes more obvious. No, I'm not a scientist but I would challenge you to name one mostly government funded program that isn't rife with corruption.
  2. When did I say I was immune to the lure of the almighty dollars? Simply pointing out the tremendous amount of money being spent and the obvious motivations of some scientists to make sure it keeps coming. I don't recall anyone saying we need to get to the moon or everyone dies. Nuclear reactor safety? Fusion research? That's funny. The left killed possibly the best chance we had for green energy in 1979. But it will come in handy for all those new reactors we're building.
  3. Absolutely correct Jerry. Roads, Social Security, ATC etc...all benefit.
  4. No Bill. I don't know any scientists. But I do know that in a capitalist society money talks. There's a lot on meat on the bone here. As a global society, we must increase spending to at least $4.13 trillion every year by 20301 to fund an energy transition sufficient to keep the planet below a temperature rise of 1.5 degrees Celsius, according to a 2021 report by environmental think tank Climate Policy Initiative. That’s a lot. Especially compared to current spending. The annual global climate investment averaged a meager $632 billion per year over 2019 and 2020—15 percent of the $4.13 trillion target. https://meansandmatters.bankofthewest.com/article/sustainable-living/taking-action/who-funds-the-fight-against-climate-change/#:~:text=The %24321 billion in climate, percent of total global commitments.&text=Unfortunately%2C growth in public investment, growth periods of 24 percent.
  5. How about instead of crowing Climate Change we admit that we don't know why. I know that's tough for scientists. Not much money in "I don't know why".
  6. Interested to hear your plan that would have kept seawater out of Ft. Myers. Also...take a look at the picture below. Some houses survived...some didn't. I'd bet the ones that made it were built in this millennium to more strict building codes that take into account hurricane storm surge. I have no problem with building as long as they adhere to the new codes.
  7. I'm all for making it easier to get a job or rent an apartment but this doesn't seem to be the big convict release people are saying it is. According to the White House, no one is currently in federal prison solely for “simple possession” of the drug, but the pardon could help thousands overcome obstacles to renting a home or finding a job.
  8. Wait until he tries to tow something heavy. Cue the "it will improve" crowd
  9. Absolutely right Bill. Nancy knows where they belong doesn't she?
  10. This is what I love about the greens. It's the prefect set up to take any outcome and make it fit.
  11. Seriously. It didn't take long for the greens to claim climate change. One could almost see them salivating as Ian spun up.
  12. Hehe...you guys act as if there's never been a hurricane before.
  13. Point is most had no plan once they crossed. Does it really matter that they were put on a plane or a bus and taken somewhere? I'm trying to get in the mind of these folks. If you already had people you were going to re-unite with would you get on a plane? Probably not.
  14. They're stranded anywhere they go. That's the issue. No one seems to give a shit that Texas border towns are over run with these folks and can't provide the services they need. Maybe the Obamas will take them in.
  15. I've said before that I welcome all immigrants. We need them to do the grunt work no one else will do. Whether they go to Boston or MV is of little difference. They are here. Most came with no idea where they would end up. I laugh at how some of you got your panties all in a bunch when I suggested it was no big deal.
  16. You might want to check the numbers of asylum seekers vs. illegal entry.
  17. The part where you said they were lied to.
  18. Hmmm...you have a cite for that? Or are you parroting left wing talking points?
  19. I don't understand why you all seem to have a problem with this. Don't you want to open your homes to them?
  20. ^This^ It's been like having your student loans on your credit card.
  21. I'm torn. I don't like the philosophy of forgiving an obligation. I think it sends the wrong message and it flies in the face of every person who honored their student loan obligations. However, student loan debt has been hampering the economy for years. Specifically in my profession it's stopped the first time home buyers. When there are no first time home buyers those who would like to sell their property and move up have fewer buyers.
