  1. I have seen a similar device constructed from a tennis ball with a 1 foot ribbon connected. Heres how: Get a tennis ball and cut a 3/4" slit in it. Attack a 1 foot ribbon to a 2" piece of wood and stick it into the ball. You will have to adjust the fall rate and drift by adding lead shot (dripping with glue) to the tennis ball. An alternative method of adjusting fall rate is by adjusting the length of ribbon attached to a weighted ball A heavier ball tends to fall straighter but ribbon length and width must be adjusted to control fall rate. 2. http://www.tads.com.au/html/body_orderinfo.html Here is their address. I have purchased 5 Tad's suits over the years. I really think they offer the best quality for the buck of all the suit manufactures. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  3. I bought 2 heavy cotton ones from Tad's Sportwear. My partner and I loved them for freeflying, but we fell way too slow for other freeflers to jump with us... Lesson of the day: As with most gear purchases, try before you buy. I think a great alternative is to use various pants and sweat shirts to customize your fall rate with other jumpers. A strap of elastic sewn on the bottom of a pair of bells makes a great pair of freefly pants! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

    Audible's

At my DZ, you are rquired to use an audible if you freefly. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  5. Have you seen the split slider mods? One pull and the thing breaks in the middle. There is nothing behind your head. It might be what you need. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  6. Separation might not be the only thing that needs discussed here... On my last trip to Florida, I jumped at a busy DZ. Two Otters were both flying back to back loads. I was jumping a new canopy that has one hell of a snivel and announced I was opening at 3000'. I was told to pull no higher 2500' because of the large number of jumpers. I left after just a few jumps. The sight of others freefalling past me while I'm waiting for my canopy to open wasn't a good feeling. Things were so fast and furious, I'm sure there was added risk here. Maybe I'm spoiled. I jump at AerOhio. Our DZ owner, Tim Butcher really puts safety first. A second jump run pass in the Otter would be a reality, if safe separation was a question. Has the economics of skydiving compromised our safety? 7. . Our sport is a small collective. As members, we have to maintain a certain standard of competancy and responsibility about how we appear to the general public. The threat of government regulation of the sport is very real. "Experts" like the guy you speak of are a threat to our existance. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

  9. Think of the hornet as a "do it all canopy" ( I know the Triathlon makes this claim, but hey...it's a 7 cell, the swoop is poop) Moderately loaded it's a beginners dream to fly, higher loadings make it a great transition canopy to the fast world of elipticals. It flies great in brakes, has a strong flare, it handles turbulance well, it can give you a decent surf, and it packs like dream. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  10. I really don't think the scenario you speak of is something to worry about. If your canopy is packed up, there won't be much gasous penetration in to the D bag. The big concerns for canopy damage is canopy exposure to sunlight, ozone generated by electric motors and air purifiers and direct contact with acidic compounds. (DuPont SolarMax fabric is superior in resistance to these agents) Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  11. I paid $68.00 per jump for freefly coaching in the fall of 2000 at AerOhio in Rittman OH. So I imagine it's at least $75.00 now. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  12. OK, but who jumps a Diablo, Sabre or Stiletto at a blade running meet?? Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

  14. Pardon me Poo, get your head out of the honey pot... I have a Heatwave and Stiletto, both the same size. I speak from experience that a Heatwave is not a Stiletto clone. They are built, fly and handle differently. I don't know where people get this idea that all SA canopies and containers are copies of US made products. Outside the States I have heard it said last fall, that the PD Sabre II is copy of the Hornet! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  15. Get Pat Works book and video "The Art of Relative VRW". It's one of the best self help tools going for freak flyers. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  16. It was my understanding the Vortex does pack exactly like a Jav. My rigger has never seen or packed a Vortex and refuses to pack it without docs for the Vortex... Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  17. I have to agree. I have a power tool and trying to close all flaps at once wears the closing loop faster. I rarely use it anymore because I think it also has a greater tendency to cut into the loop more than a ribbon. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

  19. I've had 4 chops. I took me 3 to feel confident about what I was doing. I really believe DZ's should have reserve canopies set up to test jump. They rarely handle like your main does. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  20. It's time for a reserve repack on my Vortex II. The rigger refuses to do the repack without a reserve packing manual. (they won't pack it like a Jav) I've tried emailing the Chute Shop and Icarus Skydiving Equipment in SA, with no response. Vortex II UK's website is down. Can anyone offer assistance or ideas where to go for help? Thanks!! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

  22. Vortex container: the absolute best well made container I have. Mirage M2's: never did fit right. My M3 is a perfect fit, looks good, almost as good as my Vortex. Dolphin container was very confortable, but looked cheap and fell apart with only 100 jumps. Reflex container: 4 chops in 70 jumps, won't sell it or jump it...it's jinxed. Stiletto canopy: hate it in gusts. Quirky and not a first choice. HeatWave: One of my favorite canopy's. Brake lines had to be shortened 4" to get a decent landing. Diablo: Fastest turning canopy I have. Lousy surf, but hey, it's a 7 cell. Chaos 21: it's the Bomb!!! Raven reserve: it would make a decent main. I've had 3 rides on one! Tempo reserve: it opened, I landed safe. the Raven flew better. Cypress AAD: money down the drain, I feel I'm getting burned on the batteries and maintenance. Why don't more people complain about this abuse??!! Boycot Cypress till prices and service is resonable! Astra AAD: my choice for AAD's. Best bang for the buck. FreeFly suit: Tad's works for me! Helmet: my heads hard enough.... Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  23. I'm confused...(like that's something new!) I was taught that in turbulance you fly in 1/4 brakes to increase stability. Is it wrong? Enlighten me, please!! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  24. It's suprising at all the competition you see reported in the USPA mag, but no Accuracy forum here at Dropzone. Why?? Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
  25. DANGER!...DANGER...WILL ROBINSON!!! Let tell you of my recent experience. I purchased a rig three weeks ago that "came with a Cypress". On delivery, I found the Cypress not installed, but laying in the botton of the box. I checked the thing out with Cypress and they said the last two, four year updates had not been done and it needed a battery. Suprise! The cost of having these proceedures done exceeded the value of the Cypress. Check out everything about a rig before purchasing it. It's sad there are cheats and decievers out there selling junk like this to the skydiving community. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
