shit...BUYERS beware!!! I was burned for nearly $2500.00 on E-bay! It's a haven for thieves with stolen gear and liars and cheats. If you get stuck with junk, there is little recourse for getting your money back. A bit of advise: Have the gear sent to your DZ for inspection before paying. If a seller will not comply, he's probably not on the up-and -up. Jumpers don't screw over other jumpers. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

I have purchased 2 rigs and 3 canopies from Roy. Great prices and he is very responsive to any problem. I purchased a helmet from him a while back, and even though the manufacturer screwed up the order, Roy went above and beyond to find a substitute. He has well earned my loyality! You can count on Roy! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Yada..Yada...Yada If PD IS coming out with a new line of canopies, it's only because Precision is getting an edge in the market and PD will just copy the new technology. The only thing to drive PD towards innovation is a threat to their market share. Hey, they milked the buyers with a chute called the Sabre FOREVER. And it's an antiquated canopy and people bought it because it was just PD. Talk about blind buyer loyalty. PD is the marketing king in sport parachutes, I just wish they put some money in product development! Brian G. is the best thing to happen to PD. I have an astra on one of my rigs. I LOVE it because I can switch it off under canopy and not worry about 2 canopies out during a hook. It's the only way to go for a swooper. REMEMBER; the Astra takes an $8.00 Kodak camera battery you can get at a Target store. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

My wife recently purchased a Tear Drop container mfg 1993. It's a beautiful rig, but I don't see indication of it being TSO'd. Does any know about older Tear Drops and if they can be jumped in the USA? Thanks! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

The idea behind a demo is to test the canopy. You pull as high as the pilot will allow and put the thing through it's paces. Using a demo on a freefly is a waste of valuable learning time. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Rhino, I jump a Chaos 21 and a Diablo. I'm starting to think the Diablo is the best transition canopy to the Chaos. The descent angle is very similar. I hear about Chaos newbies saying "the Chaos drops like a bomb..." Shit...they never cranked a toggle hard on a Diablo at 1.7! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

ParaGear has staff riggers. I called them and they put me in contact with their rigger. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Correctly made mini 3-ring riser pictures

Mr. Booth: I am impressed you have taken time to participate in this dialog. Your reputation of a giant in the sport has gone up another peg! Kudos!! You are a benchmark for the industry! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability... -
Thanks Chuck! I am thinking about looking at Cobalt. I have a small amount of experience on the Space, but at that time I was too inexperienced to milk the performance out of it. It was too fast for me (loading 2.0). I'm jumping a Xaos21 now and want a non-tribraced HP backup canopy. I'll put out feelers on a used Alpha or look at the Cobalt. Good question! As a new jumper keep asking them and you will one day be an old jumper! (Grin) As addendum to the question: I know I can spin my Diablo and Stiletto. I am curious what canopies, let's say at a 1.5 loading, have the greatest tendency or reputation to spin on hard toggle turns? Thanks! Can anyone compare the performance and handling of a Space canopy to the Cobalt? Thanks! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

John LaBlanc says, "you need to learn how to pack"....(grin) Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

You got it right. I bet RiggerRob could give you the construction details & specs. I bought my first 2 extensions from Paragear for 6 bucks each. The owner and rigger at our DZ made another for me, it took 5 minutes. I think you might want to look for another rigger... Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

For what it's worth; I had a conversation last year with John LaBlanc and he said "PD does not advise psycho-packing ANY of its canopies". Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Agreed...my Chaos 108 dosen't turn as fast as a similar sized Diablo. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

"you might want to put 50-100 jumps on a Sabre class canopy (rectangle or slightly elliptical) before trying the Diablo" The decent angle on the Diablo (7 cell) is much steeper than most 9 cells. If you want a transition canopy go with a Triathlon. As a new jumper, a 9 cell to 7 cell transition can be a bit scary when it comes to landing. The Diablo turns quickly and if pushed hard at higher loading, you can spin the canopy into twists requiring a cut-away. I think if you keep the loading at 1:1 the Diablo is a tame canopy, but it requires greater techncal skills as the loading goes up. As always, have your canopy control skills evaluated by an instructor and get their counsel on what is appropriate to fly for your skill level. Good Luck!! How about getting a contrasting soft pillow? They really reduce the risk of a snag causing a reserve deployment. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

My wife and I both jump Reflexes. I've had 3 reserve rides on the Reflex. (no catapult installed) The last one was a downplane spiral with many line twists. I had to use both hands and pull very hard for cutaway. I strongly recommend hard cable housings be installled in the risers to prevent this from happening. The rigs are great for freefly. The biggest problem is finding a rigger who can pack the reserve correctly. If the pack is done properly, the poptop is tight and does not require re-tightening and the container is filled tightly in the yolk area. I believe there were comments on how it's done in the Gear section or on this board. It's a good rig ...don't sweat it! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Mal report - begginers should read this

I just called Sherry Butcher at AerOhio. She said altimeters are required and free flyers must have audibles. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability... -

At my DZ altimeters ARE required and audibles are required for freeflyers. No altimeter, no jump... I think it's a good rule. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability... -
Your machine has seen better days. Do the right thing and bury it in the back yard.... Oh, by the way, I have a White Serger machine with little use for sale for $250.00. Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

My wife has embraced sit flying as opposed to flying like a snake on her belly! Saints be praised!!! We just started jumping out of a Beech Westwind with a door like an Otter. What would be the best 2 way exit for a newbie? I tried a train type exit today but she felt uncomfortable with my knees under her arm pits. I'm flying base trying to encourage her to learn to adjust her fall rate but she orbits around me, not holding a heading. She is really sensitive about criticism (what woman isn't). What would be the best way to get her flying right?? Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...

Deciding "This Canopy is Not For Me"
Kirils replied to Jumperpaula's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
AndyMan: Good point! There are so many variables with equipment use in our sport, we can never flat out condem anyone's preference for gear. Acceptance, forgivness, tolerance and the persuit of kick ass fun makes our sport the greatest of all! Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
