  1. With the open corners on my 'tight' wings container......it gets alot more than a love tap to get the side walls neat with the bottom of container.... More than one person has quietly said......."you must really hate you rig to hit it like that...." But I dont ....I love it......its just into S&M
  2. Rubbish......experience with your setup and its sighting can be just as clean....with experience
  3. A movie has recently been uploaded that shows a nice clear example of a PC in tow due to an uncocked PC. The jumper grabs the bridal to pull out the pin and at this point the PC 'inflates' where it was clearly collapsed prior to pulling the bridal... Any experienced people have a good explanation as to the mechanics of this ....ie how the jumpers action resulted in PC inflation on an uncocked PC...?? http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3257
  4. Really ......? how sad ....... http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3254
  5. Whilst you make your decision....thought I would add.... You can get issues with visible vignette on the 'longer' lenses that are not the best quality. ( if you are using footage for editing you can possibly get rid of that vignette by 'zooming' in a little on the footage using your editing program......not ideal...but an acceptable workaround) The lower profile lenses ( eg Liquid lens,Royal lens) avoid this but do have a degree of blur at the edges of the lens..... Depends what you want to do with the footage you record I guess.....what you are happy with.
  6. Had to share these skies with 'yall Beautiful...... (shame about the flying....I know , I know..) http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3254
  7. Bet that was messy... Strawberry , Raspberry or marmalade.....?
  8. For a great compromise between video quality and good compression....DivX wins at the moment
  9. A ring binder reinforcement circle on the inside of your goggles....... A bit of time on the ground to get it set up to your camera angle..... Works wonders......

    The CATAPULT....

I think you mean "greyout" "Brownout" refers to reduction in supplied electrical power below normal levels. (or after watching this video .......a very real biological possibility requiring a swift change of underwear )
  11. Its referring to "look" at the aircraft propellor prior to exit which gives the student a better chance at leaving the aircraft with a good arch as they have a head high/up position (which aids the arch position) as well as giving them a visual reference on the plane as they exit , aiding heading control and hopefully stability.
  12. Contact PilotDave on this site..... He helps maintain it/sort out problems....
  13. Way I see it is you plan a skydive ......right? Whether its freeflying, RW or Wingsuiting you all have at best a 'general' plan....(ie worst case at least a break off height) Why would you think that you dont need to plan buzzing a canopy its still part of yours and others skydives......from alot of this discussion here it seems alot of those in favour of buzzing are in favour of doing it 'unannounced' alot closer than I previously thought..... Some wingsuiters might say its as much 'their' sky to play in.....but its also the canopy flyers sky as well.....as well as being blatently 'risky'....note I did not say down right dangerous....its also incredibly arrogant and impolite to assume you have the right to scare the wits out of and put a fellow jumper at risk without warning. Ask them.......and think about how much more fun you can have with them with their consent....ie actually plan it.... Certainly I would be pissed off with someone 'buzzing' me intentionally without my consent. That said I wander if those who dont think they should ask feel that way because they have no idea of who they are likely to be nearest to in the sky and able to buzz......so dont know who to ask? (Fireproof suit is now on , and zipped up .....you may continue)
  14. But not free with Windows XP.......
  15. PilotDave is usually quite quick.......if he's around it usually gets 'on the front page' from you uploading it within 24hrs...
  16. Use what comes free with Windows XP - Windows Movie Maker 2 If you have not used much editing software before its all you will need to do exactly what you have described. Edit Video/Add music tracks & sound effects /Add titles. Plus it allows you to convert your movie into a variety of preset .wmv / .avi resolutions dependant on how/where you want to show it eg DV.avi files for higher quality content for DVD perhaps or lower resolution .wmv for web uploading... Its free...and it works...
  17. Movie(s) now uploaded on skydivingmovies.com.... Freeflying...... http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3199 London Skydivers & Friends..... http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3198
  18. Doesnt Langer Go FF before RW?? Most places I have been to have RW before FF Kellands explanation is about the most understandable that I have seen/read..... Now ....Tandems going first at Empuria.......hmmm there is a logical reason, but it still doesnt look right !!
  19. Dave I used to fly a baggy suit .....which you have seen (red, blue and baggy) I now freefly in a lower profile suit with significantly less drag... Benefits? flying is improved significantly because you have alot more control over the 'drag' you are presenting ....ie your body.... With a baggier suit that control of drag is not as well defined /felt and so is not controlled as well. Personally I have found that you 'find' the extra drag with your body position intuitively because you have increased awareness of the drag your body is presenting. The flappy suit kinda masks that feeling... Just my experience. Although as you know I have that nifty little feature on my current suit where I can unzip the arms and legs for more drag on jumps (mostly flat or when I just want to be lazy) where a fat oaf like me really needs to slow down.... But I can deffo tell the difference in 'control' when I have my suit baggy vs 'tight'
  20. I had some 4 way camera experience last year... Firstly I have never competed at 4 way and I predominantly freefly......so before embarking I spent some time in the tunnel on my belly just 're' defining those skills again. TBH I didnt understand what they were all talking about with the dive pool abbreviations but I did watch the dirtdives to see if the formations were 'long' or 'short' on exit and during the dive....I am a total beginner but really I just needed to see if the formation was going to slow down or speed up or move significantly during the next point so that I could act accordingly. What did I learn in a season? well things that stuck out: 1) Help them out on the ground in whatever way they want....video dubs/manifest/ packing 2) Keep your mouth shut....unless you are the coach. 3) A personal rule of mine......If 'I' dont get judgeable video....pay your slot or contribute that money to the team kitty. 4) Always ALWAYS check your camera on the ride up to ensure its working and the settings are correct. 5) Take time and ensure your camera is 'sighted' correctly....you DONT need to have expensive and potentially dangerous ringsites to get good video if you are comfortable with where your camera is sighted and you use a sensible size lens (mine for 4 way is a 0.5) 6) For beginners Peel Exits are preferential to leading exits and jump for jump will give a beginner vidiot a much better chance at getting judgeable video. 7) YOU dont need to have camera wings.....I flew with a team where I was substantially heavier/bigger than the 4way flyers......I flew in a freefly suit and never had any real problems......FLY YOUR BODY.....if you have trouble with this at the start, its unlikely to get better just with cam wings. 8)Play on the edges of the burble during training .....keep it totally safe (ie a little higher and not quite as steep) during comps. 9) Look 'through' the formation whilst filming and keep a ground reference .......if you rotate/move with the formation as they are rotating/drifting you are not doing them any favours....if they have unwanted movement...they need to see it to correct it ! Often I had no idea how many points a 4 way got on a jump as I was focusing 'through them' whilst trying to ensure I kept them in frame 10) Visually Check them ALL pre jump, when they are boarding , on the way up and whatever you can see when climbing out.......their equipment problems dierctly affect your chances of surviving the jump ... 12) Its '5 way' not four way..... Probably more but nothing comes to mind.... Oh yeah.....having freefly experience/ability DOES make you a better camera flyer.....dont subscribe to the whole 'you are a RW or Freefly jumper'....skills cross over.
  21. Not really I have a Wings sized for a 170 and it looks tiny on me ( well length wise anyway) ..... to the point that I am going to get a mod done to help me stop falling through 'the hole' when sitflying ..........in case of a premature deployment. I already have had a premature deployment whilst freeflying ( not on this rig).......they can /do happen even if they are packed correctly......
  22. I met some.....and what a team they are....
  23. I'm in Emps from 23rd Dec for a while.... Would LOVE to get some Wingsuit jumps in......(I have zero) I am 'freefly friendly' and am quite current.......anyone know if there will be anything available for a 6ft plus fat boy who wants to fly like a bird...??
