  1. ummm.... yeah. We have strict gun control laws... The states doesn't. Which country do you think has more people shot per year??
  2. the canopy stalls a lot quicker when flaring on half breaks with your rear risers. So much so, that it isn't something I'd feel very comfortable doing low to the ground... both brakes stuck? I'm chopping it. Play with this up high... you can eat up a great deal of altitude trying out different scenarios. Will
  3. 4+?!!! holy crap! that is too cool... I want one!
  4. it does.... but I have minor issues finding the chords...
  5. hi all, I was watching some kite surfing recently that works on the principle of semi-solid ribs that are inflated in a similar way to that of wingsuits. One of the guys mentioned that the more solid a wing was, the more controlable it was... It led to this thought... (through a couple of beers ) Has anyone tried a wingsuit that is pressurised by external means? Ribs that maintain a high pressure from a small external cylinder of compressed gas. I would have thought that this would make a more rigid wing... I have no idea whether this would be a good thing or not, just that canopy stuff seems to be trying to get as rigid as possible to get extreme flight. Will
  6. a coupla weekends ago at hib... it was nice. Sunny, and the clouds looked silver at 14k... cool
  7. any of you take your guitar to the DZ? I've always thought it'd be kinda cool to play a couple of tunes after I'm done jumping, but have always been too shy..
  8. I'm jumping a Teardrop SF. The riser covers come right down to the 3-rings on it and are very tight. I certainly wouldn't want to be trying to open them in a high speed mal situation. I'm not quite sure why you'd want to clear the risers to be honest. OK, it might reduce the chance of a two out scenario, but I would have thought that there would be a greater chance of your main risers getting tangled in your deploying reserve. Please correct me if my logic is wrong. For what it's worth, a PC in tow is a nightmare for me because there is no definate solution. I like the idea of pulling the bridle to open the main, but I suspect I'd just automatically do my full reserve drills... not cool.
  9. Bytch, you rock!.. Incubus are a great band... trying to work out a couple of tunes at the moment... Splender and Butch Walker are the two artists I'm struggling to emulate...
  10. Personally, if it's controllable with a broken line, I'd land mine. But bear in mind that I'm loading my 135 pretty lightly and practise rear riser landings fairly regularly. If it's spinning due to a stuck brake and I can't sort out the problem, but can steer straight with cross control on one riser, I'd think more seriously about chopping it - the idea of a parachute that needs input just to fly straight doesn't appeal to me. I know some people who would almost certainly land something like this. If it takes a lot of effort just to get it to steer straight, it's a chop for me. Again, these are only my cut-off points. If I didn't practise landing on risers regularly, or loaded my canopy more, the chances of chopping would probably increase. Will
  11. have you tried Chris Lynch's 'Wingtips' seminars? They're really good and he can help you safely progress to what you want to do.

  14. one of my early FF jumps - leg lock with a coach who points behind me. I look round to see the plane in a dive with the pilot waving at us - it felt so close that I could touch it! So cool.
  15. umm... a little clarification please? What little counter fold???
  16. it is possible to geometrically 'lock' a reverse riser. We've seen a case of a spinning mal where one riser will release, but the other will not if the spin keeps forcing the riser downward (towards the jumper's shoulder). The 3 rings cannot rotate and release in this situation because they are jammed against the jumper. We have recreated this effect on the ground.
  17. oops... my bad. Good juob I didn't post the boobies I was about to as a hijack...
  18. A dozen 'logical' posts... I thought this was supposed to be hijacked?
  19. I'm not going to discuss politics - I don't know enough about it. I do apologise if my first post seemed to.... vehement. It's just I've seen the effects of foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) firsthand. Education about FAS is the major thing that will contribute to lowing the number of infants born with this syndrome. For an example of the severity of FAS, see the attachment. WARNING! the image below is NOT suitable for the faint of heart. It shows a severly deformed infant stillborn as a result of FAS once again, I apologise if I seemed out of line.
  20. hence the advice that most women get... don't drink until you've had a pregnancy test after any intercourse that you think may have resulted in conception.
  21. I'm off to look at a new house tomorrow... one of my very own dz bums welcome, but no swiping my beer.
  22. Don't drink any booze during pregnancy, most especially not early on. The third week is critical to the growth of an embryo and alcohol seriously undermines the chances of a normal birth. Nuts to your political posturing. I guarentee that alcohol is the cause of more birth defects than mercury poisoning. This is a hugely serious issue - it's a pity you turned it into a political tool.
