Agreed. But that's true of any canopy. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I think it's in PD's or Icarus' (or whoever's) interest to release a canopy even if only a handful of people are qualified to fly it - partly for the knowledge they'll gain from doing so but mainly for the cool factor. Why do car manufacturers spend their R&D budgets on silly souped up cars that hardly anyone will buy? It gives the brand prestige and increases the saleability/desireability of the whole range. Says me LOL! Well that's what I've always been led to believe but now you've made me go and look in the ops manual (section 6). It says: It doesn't explicitly mention licenses and I don't know what the definition of an "Intermediate Parachutist" is. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I don't think so. The only restriction I know of (helmets wise) is that you have to have a C before you can wear a frap hat. Mmmmm, gotta love those frap hats. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I put a handful of skydives on my Troll recently. With a 3 or 4 second delay, propacked with plenty of rolls in the nose and using my 32" zp pc the openings were quite brisk enough. I packed it in to a dbag. Gus Edited 'cos I'm a 'tard. OutpatientsOnline.com

I rent/house share and have no insurance at all. That's life on the edge for you. If you figure anything useful out post it here so we can all see. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com -

I hope that it doesn't get stolen . Gus OutpatientsOnline.com -
It doesn't sound like you did anything that terrible. Maybe your little bit of deception will give certain members of your community the kick up the arse that it sounds like they need. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

going from UK to US - insurance for rig
gus replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Lots of people insure their rig through Harrison Beaumont. I used to but don't bother any more, it was quite expensive (~£180 a year for all my kit). As for using normal travel insurance the advice on here before has been to get a letter explicitly confirming that your main/reserve/container/aad are considered seperate items. I can't remember what settings I used (it was a while ago) but it worked really well and looked really good. I'd like to do it some day at the dz. I don't know why but I seem to have deleted it so I can't show you . Edited to add: The total time recording was way too long because I remember speeding the whole thing up quite significantly (on my computer) to get the 'sweeping clouds' effect I was looking for. I had it plugged in so no battery worries. That's true but if you do what I ended up doing (speeding the recording up afterwards) you no longer have consecutive frames next to one another - if you see what I mean. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I've done it on my PC9, just filming clouds for the hell of it. I have the camera in front of me, let me have a look..... It's called "INT. REC" under the "CAMERA SET" menu when in record mode. You can choose an interval of 30 secs, 1 min, 5 mins or 10 mins and a recording time of 0.5 sec, 1 sec, 1.5 secs or 2 secs. Then when you switch it on you get a blinking "INTERVAL" on the screen. Press the record button to start and I think it'll just carry on until you stop it or it runs out of tape. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I asked Brian whether the $7.50 would cover shipping to the UK. His reply was: Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

It depends how ballsy I'm feeling! I have about 70 or 80 w/s jumps (700 in total) and jump a GTI with my Sabre2 120 @ ~1.5. I would say that on average I go in for the pull at about 3500, just to give me a few more seconds than usual to make sure I'm nice and stable when I pull. At the moment I'm pretty uncurrent on the wingsuit (stupid winter weather) so I'll probably take it up another 500 ft next time I get to fly it. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Watched my DVD last night when I should have been tucked up in bed. It's awesome, very well edited - nice work Neil and the Team Crankers. Highly recommended. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Are you asking how to strip the soundtrack from a video and save it as a wav? I'm sure there are many ways to do it but I've always used VirtualDub. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Your Canopy Risk Quotient? :Parachutist 03/04
gus replied to sarge's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Anyone care to post the article so those of us without Parachutist can see it? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com -
Hi Bill, at the bottom of the message is a list of attachments where you should see the name of the photo that you've been sent. Click on it and (on my pc at least) it'll ask you if you want to save the file or open it, click on 'open', then 'open' again and you should be looking at the picture. Now use the right mouse button to click on the picture and you should get a little menu pop up, choose 'Set As Background' and that should do it. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Hi all, I just cracked open a borrowed container to swap the canopy for mine but didn't find what I was expecting and I can't figure out how to take the dbag off! My normal rig has a metal link which you can just unscrew from the metal ring on the canopy but this one's 'odd'! In the first picture I've turned the dbag inside out so you see better. The pilot chute's larks headed to the bridle (non collapsable) so I thought maybe I could take off the pilot chute and unthread the whole thing but (as the 2nd picture shows, with the dbag no longer inside out) I can't. Am I just being dim? Thanks, Gus OutpatientsOnline.com
