Turtles are on the mission.. it's top secret and they can't tell you about it! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Thats a good post dave! Today I have been talking with a friend who is in Moab, he and 4 other guys went out for Mem weekend.. 4 of the 5 guys now have crutches to come home on.. why? the tonight I went to my home town of Ft Scott, kansas to watch the green beret demo jumpers jump into our small downtown are to celebrate the town festival. I am sick and went for the carnage, those guys choose to jump into a very congested area.. granted the buildings are only up to three storys in height but the power lines and the funny winds of the day where there as well. One jumper made it in fine, the other guy hauling the flag landed on a second story roof top as the american flag and the 60# wieght went over the side of the building towards the crowd below. Why would these guys even risk jumping into that area when there where wider open areas close to this location? I had a pro rating and would not even consider the city streets a landing area! So to top if off these guys will try again twice on Saturday and once on Sunday when the festival crowds are at thier largest! that story is a bit off topic but it seemd to fit with the weekend numbers and the aparent loss of the learning from others mistakes tool. Its a bummer. I have become so conservative these days and can't see myself changing that any time soon. Lets look at the info and learn from it. so we won't make thos mistakes that others have made. not that it is a skydiving parachute but I have seen a lot worse while working in the powered parachute industry. I saw one canopy that the lines got cut in a prop and the owner of the PPC just tied the lines at the cut point with a fw knots thinking it would work and the best one was a guy used some heavy cord he had in his barn for a new steering line! Sad.. real sad. joe www.greenboxphotography.com

jdthomas replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in The Bonfire

Other then the pain med issue it was a very minimal transport. any reason your family can't do the transport? Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
If you have round handles for your doors you can go to what i call te old folks gift shop and get a door handle helper. these shops carry stuff that make old people like little kids and make it easy for them to live without supervision.. you know arm rest on toliets so they can pull themselves up off the thing and those large pill containers.. all that stuff.. medical supply store! Anyway they have round knob helpers and you can put those on what ever door you want karma to be trained at and she should only use the doors that have knob helpers and stay away from other doors. Because Natasha now visits the bathroom we keep the lids down at all times when not in use! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Well if you have the push down handle on your door you can teach your dog these "tricks" ! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

So I was in the bathroom high upon my throne and my loyal subject opend the door to see what was going on. My girlfriend has trained our dog to open doors now! Little did I know this and what a suprise to me. Twice this has happend today.. ahh the joys of having a girlfriend that is doing a dog training class! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Well I disagree with you, I feel the owner did need to know about this. now here is the twist that will possibly change the direction of this thread. the last repack came from the manufacture of the rig as it had gone in for some upgrades! And although a kleenex is small and safety was not much of an issue here it is still the fact that there was something in the rig. it had clearly been a used kleenex and it came from a manufactures loft! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
-
I spoke with the owner, made sure he knew that there was no safety issue at hand. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I had a guy bring me a rig for a repack and inside I found a used kleenex... what to do what to do? I am sure nothing was unsafe or so i would think, but should I just laugh it off, contact the last rigger myself or let the owner of the rig do so. My concern is, if this could have slipped into the rig what enviroment is the last rigger packing in? I personally vac up the area I rig in before each reapck that I do and I have the benifit of having an area that is just for rigging and nothing else happens in the part of my basement. Other riggers comments or suggestions? Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I am working today and we had to take the ambulance to do a standby at the atchison kansas fly in. I was very dissapointed in the fly in and airshow. When i saw that this air show was during my shift and there was a rig going out I asked for that slot and my boss was happy to give me the slot. Man I see why my co workers don't care to go sit there. i thought it was because none of my cow workers liked planes.. nope that event just sucks! Here is the kicker, you would think that event would be good as this is the home town of Amelia Earhart and the airport is so named after her. I was told that in years past there where hundreds of planes, todays count..24! The positive of it for me was I got paid to be there and arranged some sail plane flight time! Today I stopped by the uniform shop to get a new pair of EMS pants. I paid 76.00 dollars and some change for a pair of cargo pants! It's a tax write off as I have to have them for my work, but when I think that I had to "work" 7 hours to pay for the pants it kind of makes me feel like I got ripped off. Any one else have to buy stuff to do thier jobs or do your employers pay for your needs? Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Should I fly down in the morning? Screw work? Just go? You will never regret going? you could possibly regret not going. if you have, or even if you don't have the cash then go. if your work is cool with it then go. and even if they are not, go. and then find a place to work that understands these things. I was there when my grandfather was passing, many of my family did not come to see him. they have regret for that lost moment. the evnt actually made me happy to see his pain end and I think that because I was there at that time is the only reason I could deal with my loss.( I wanted to say his loss, but his ending pain was his gain and not his loss.) Go see your grandmother! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I think that this chip is great and then I think that it is not so good. It would be nice to have the medical info of someone who can't provide that for me, but I really don't like the idea at the same time because i am a privacy freak. I did pick up a guy who was out cold and laying in a street, it would have been nice to have his medical info. It would have helped narrow down my patient assement a bit. Turns out he was a diabetic and had let his blood sugar crash, so he crashed! I have always thought that back country campers and climbers should have this info available and now i feel that maybe we all should. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Cool stuff. I see myself in a nursing program someday when I get tired of the medic gig. I am in paramedic school now and someday will be the ER nurse... I think.... maybe PA? Who knows. Anyway, good job! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I had some of the best times and worst times of my life while unemployed. I did find new values and think that I am better off now having experienced that twice. Both of those times where a real blow to me as I was not ready for a company downsize at either time. but I came out on top and have thrived for it. I hope that your experience will fill you with some new direction and meaning. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Just a short time ago there was a thread from a young jumper in need of a cloosing loop while down south. Some people choose to aid him in his time of need and others took the thread apart and offered no help at all. I sent that jumper a package of cloosing loops thru the snail mail and hopefully this will help him. Other jumpers sent me PM's asking for cloosing loops as well and I sent them out without a second thought. Every jumper who got mail from me returned mail to me with greatness. some with words and others with cash. Today was diffrent and I want to thank GitRdone for the mail and say that it was to much and I sent you a PM on this. Thank you! the other mail that stuck out was from Popsjumper and his words to me where awesome. Everyone that has sent mail to me thank you as well. One of the many reasons why I love skydiving! This is really an amazing thing, sport lifestyle or what ever you want to call it. Today I am just stoked on the brotherhood of it all and wanted to sya thanks to those jumpers I have just had exchanges with. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Our ER has been pretty empty all day, I have not hauled one person there either.. so my 24 hr shift thus far has been right here infront of the TV and this computer. I don't want to jinx myself because I want to sleep tonight, but I am bored! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
