What are you doing today? Or what did you do today?
jdthomas replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
just like every saturday I am here at the ems station waiting on the calls to come in. and like every saturday i hope that the calls don't come in! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
I know that Natasha dreams about treats. Our dog has a high food drive and will do anything we ask just for a chance at a treat. her number one is Frosty Paws dog ice cream. Today she is at dog school so I know that chrisitina is giving her treats for learning tricks. Nat is always happy to go to school. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I am with you in that most of my injurys where skateboard related. I have broken almost all my upper body bones and had stiches to staples from a surgey when i ruptered my spleen. Most of these where a direct result from the skateboard and last night I was at the skatepark. I am a bit more easy going at the park now since I am "that old guy". I really don't see any stiches, cast or staples in my future. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

ahahaha awesome I wish was there to see it ? was she hot ? did she look hot soaking wet ? and did she say anything when ya threw her in the drink? No she did not look hot soaking wet and she was just furious! She was just yelling at me, I just went on about my business and drove away. One of the best things I have ever done for myself and she made it an easy choice for me. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Once when I was young I had an arguement with a girlfriend at that time. she was so mad that she lost control of her emotions and hit me with a closed fist. We where out inthe country at a city lake, I picked her up and tossed her into the lake and then drove myself home. I never spoke with her after that.. pretty silly now and it was then as well. I am a retired senior citizen on a fixed income; I don't have a credit card. When I was doing home health I heard "I am retired, I am on a fixed income" from everyone one of my patients.. I was making about 12$ per hour and usally got the same amount of hours every week.. therefore my income was also fixed! I would always tell these people that we all have fixed incomes to some degree, other more fortunate people just have higher fixed incomes then we do. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

See the motorcycle?? A dead dumb ass was riding it
jdthomas replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
I would guess that a lot of them are also not wearing leathers / helmets / etc? Well thats the kicker. No most are not wearing helmets or leathers. kansas is helmet choice state. However most of the cases and almost 99% of them infact... would have had no affect with helmet or leathers! It is just shear/ impact trauma and that can make anyones day bad! While I am here let me say that. seatbelts don't do any good if you are not wearing them! and alot of people will argue that they know someone that would have died if they had a seatbelt on.. but most of the time it is proven that seat belts save lives. Perhaps the two 24yr old boys that we worked at 6am this morning would be better off (as in walking) if they had seatbelts on last night when they drove off into the gully thru the woods! Our first pt was paralized and I took him to the chopper and the other kid took 2hrs of extracation to get the car out from around him.. he was broken from about the c4 down! Seatbelts, helmets, and leathers are all part of your transportation needs. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -

Does the smell, sight, or sound turn your stomach?

Puke no longer bothers me, it's part of my job and I have got used to it... I hate the fact that I am used to vomit! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
I used to have all the sponsorships and lime light in skateboarding.. that was years upon years ago and there are days that I miss some aspects of it. But I don't think that I miss it enough to go back to it if I had the chance. I had my experinece with it and even back then I knew it was for a limited time, so i milked it for everything I could. I just gave up my tandem and all instructor ratings this year. so maybe in ten years from now I will look back at this one just as you have. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Shoo Goo was great when i was skateboarding before my shoe sponsor, that stuff kept my shoes from falling apart! And my old RW suit had that stuff all over the booties to the point that it was almost a rigid wing! Besure and place something very soild behind the work surface (fabric) and get plenty of sticks because the one they give you will get nasty quick. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Do you help or walk on by? Care more for animals or people?
jdthomas replied to Scoop's topic in Speakers Corner
so you hate cats? poor starving bored cat The cat may have been bored, but I doubt starving as it's the house cat from across the street. Do I hate cats? No.. but i think that the cat should have picked a bigger bunny instead of the small guy.. you know a fair chance thing! But you make me think about where my etics really are. This morning i went turkey hunting and I used to feed a squirel that lived in my front yard tree. My ex found it crazy that I could hand feed and care for that squirel and yet go hunt squirels in the country for food. i used to tease her and say i was just fatting the one out front up. ( I was joking) Now i will admit that one day i found her, my front yard squirel very ill and injured. it looked as if she had a broken leg and other injurys internal. the flys where already swarming her so infection was there. I was a bit upset by this. It was very hard to kill her, she was in much pain and was basiclly lifeless and I felt that her best option was quick death.. I miss that squirel, she was fun to feed and watch. So there you go, I may be messed up on animal ethics. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -

well I am and EMT so part of me wants to offer aid to who ever when ever, but I will have to say that my training tells me and I agree that scene safety is number one. I do no good if I am hurt! As far as animals, well we have one rescue dog of our own and I will always do what I can for animals, yesterday I saved a baby bunny from a cat. I say do what I can as long as I do not place myself in danger! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
I was up, but it was for two back to back medical calls! and then I was back asleep when the calls where done. I should have checked the fourms at that time.. oh well! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I have done but one real SAR mission and it turned to be a bogus search as the family of a missing man faked the event! So much time, energy and money was lost on that, what a shame. I am not sure if the family had to pay or what happend, but the County was looking to press some charges on them. I don't think they could get money from that family as I am sure they have none. But I like SAR and want to someday train a dog for future SAR missions. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Drop Zone Ethics - 101 (In Kansas City)
jdthomas replied to jumper410's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"And the banter back and forth about other DZ’s also having false claims, well sure anyone can pick about anything apart, but there’s a huge difference between little half truths about small stuff." So what you are saying is that the claim that skydive kansascity has made on thier web site about having no serious acidents and the one that did actually happen is a small half truth and is or should just be small stuff to the student that struck the tail. I wonder how his tib/fib and pelvis are doing today? but thats small stuff. Sure we can pick apart anything, you have done so as well.. sure the claims made where big but in perspective to safety of an injured student or a hot shower what one would you be most upset about? I personally can get by without a plasma tv or a hugh indoor packing area, but if I am going to have to choose a true safety record over a porta potty and a manifest shed.. well I am going to choose on the side a safety. Just for the record, I am not saying that skydive kansas city is not a safe place to jump. I am stating or as Don would say picking apart.. the claims made on thier web site. since web site info is the topic at hand for the most part. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com -
I just send stuff directly to my brother and he tells me that so many guys get packages from random people.. he said it was awesome and he got adopted on his last tour by a grade school class from Texas.. he told me that the kids sent him drawings and all kinds of kooky and cool stuff.. Anyway, go find a national guard unit or full time soldier and adopt them.. getting mail while away from home is awesome. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
