I am a big Wings fan, but the thing about Javelin's screw people.. I wouldn't blame the manufacturer.. I think Javelin's are great containers as well, but since there are so many around.. you are more likely to see something happen with them.. just like there are a lot of complaints about Sabre2s opening weird.. Because there are so many around you are GOING to hear something bad about it.. Even if its not the gear that is to blame. Prematures are rarely to blame on the equipment (unless you are jumping really old gear) but more on how the owner of the equipment maintains it.. I don't think there would be so many Javelin's around if prematures were an issue.. So back on topic.. the best freefly rig? the rig that fits you best and most comfortably.. which is probably going to be a Wings

I loved my Sabre2s... Demo demo demo demo and choose what you like best

You missed my setup then I have a bracket for my flash that mounts on my helmet using a schumacher quick shoe.. camera helmet

Absolutely... we would like to get one in San Jose sometime too. And we'd like to go back to the nut house!

I'm saving my money for the 5D instead, so I can start jumping my all time favorite 28mm again! To this day I love my old Rebel 2000 with the 28mm lens.. that camera just didn't weigh ANYTHING!

What are you looking at? Bump.. cause I feel like bumpin.. thats all WHOOOOOOOOORES

I did my beer X braced jump at about 1600 jumps. Triathlon 190 400jumps Sabre2 150 600 jumps Stiletto 135 50 jumps Sabre2 135 550 jumps Velocity 120 1 jump Velocity 111 5 jumps Velocity 103 400 jumps All I have to say is have respect for what you are flying, the xbraced canopies are not just another canopy, and are definately not for people that are doing less than 300 jumps a year in my opinion.. You need to be on top of your game at ALL times..

Very nice shots sir.. the first picture reminded me of Holland immediately! A couple of tips on pictures like these.. the second photo was WAY better than the first for a couple of reasons.. the first being, no distractions.. In the first there's the street off to the side, the car, etc.. crop those out and your picture improves tremendously. Have fun playing around with the camera!

Happy birthday hot stuff!!! Let's celebrate tomorrow night!!

Happy birthday Lany.. And thanks everyone for congratulations.. I am a very lucky man indeed.. Ha ha.. Congrats to you and Roy.. that is great news..

It all depends, the time of day / position of the sun can be worked around. Really low makes it easier to tell your subject to face the sun, but it also makes for more chance of shadows.. What are you looking for? no shadows? In that case, you would want to use fill flash..

Shoot from slightly off to the side, or slightly below

Swoopers - could/would you upsize if you had to?

Lisa, Talk to Clay in Byron.. he switched out the Velos and went to Crossfires for that very reason.. he's getting older, family.. all that stuff.. He still jumps his Velo once in a while, but its basically his backup canopy at this point.. -
[sarcasm] nah.. just start shooting stills too.. just put your tongue on the trigger as soon as you leave the airplane.. you'll get an ok picture at some point right?[/sarcasm] I agree with Saskia here.. mount the video and start flying.. in fact.. with that number of jumps, start flying, and leave the video on the ground for a bit longer..

Vigil V. Cypres ( Need help as to which one I buy )
vdschoor replied to freeflyboy24's topic in Gear and Rigging
From what I know (and that is not much.. I have no problem admitting this) the pressure situation with those misfires was somethign that could never happen under normal circumstances.. just as Jo mentioned. At least it did something (fired) The Cypress just sat there like.. ow.. this is impossible, and shut off.. what do you prefer? somethign that just quits on you, or something that makes the decision to fire because you might just be in a really narly situation that is "impossible" under normal circumstances? From how I understood Jo's comments they just changed the algorith to think about it a bit longer before firing under those "unexplainable" circumstances. I still have a cypress in my rigs, but when they are due for replacement... I'll be taking a good look at the Vigil Iwan -
Call Ripleys

Yup.. that would work.. I've used the Sony video lights too (the ones that mount on the camera shoe, but that operate without being mounted on the camera) and they work GREAT. I use this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=367190&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

Yeah JP.. hook a brotha UP!! Now I can only function as a helper.. I'd like to go all the way to the podium, where they deserve to be..
-
What he said.. Also, in those kind of conditions, I try to fly really close, but since you said this was one of your firsts... get some practice first before getting close.

You just gotta love her don't you?
