It's been suggested that any excess go toward a tuition fund for the girls. They attend a private school and I know that having them attend that school was very important to JP. I'll make sure that happens.

JP, I don't know where to start, how to ever thank you enough for what you did for me over the years from when I started showing up in Byron.. The only person I ever trusted enough to take me on a tandem.. cause that was the next thing you were going to talk me into doing.. "Let's both get our rating!" The numerous times you gave me advice on flying the camera, the roadtrips to boogies.. you trusting me enough to bring me to Eloy a couple of years ago.. The list goes on and on.. you were one of my "dads away from home" HOTTEPE!! Your crazy hollish friend..

Landing area is huge.. outs.. not so nice, make your decision up high whether you are going to make it back or not.. there are more than enough outs, but you need to be ready... I've only landed way off once, other than that I always ended up back at the airport. Jumpships.. just when you think its gonna be a long wait for the next load.. they pull out another plane.. it's like magic I think he has a Beech 99, Twin Otter, King Air right now, but I heard there might even be 2 otters, not sure I love Lodi!

That is exactly it.. HDV is stored on the tape in a compressed format and the camera has to uncompress it to play it... For good info on this that I found that explains HDV a bit: http://www.highdef.com/library/what_is_hdv.htm

I saw the same with my HC-1. The owner of the video concession told me not to shoot with it anymore (I only had to use it once, when I forgot my TRV17) I dont use the HC-1 for tandem videos, because we dont have a HD-DVD or Blu-ray burner yet.. so why use my nice HD camera if my TRV-17 will do the job just fine.. I only use my HD camera for non tandem jumps..

I format the card after every tandem, reason being that we use a cd burner to dump the photos from the card onto a cd (no pc in between) If you delete the pics, the customer will get a cd with a lot of empty folders on there, and just the latest folders on the disc will have their pictures in there. The second reason for formatting is it takes 2 seconds, vs.. a lot longer.. I dont have time in between tandems

Unless you want to do something really extremely wide, the 8mm is out. I have one for my 20D, and i have used it maybe 10 times.. and only for real specialty shots.. I think the 10-22 will do the trick for you on a 400D, the 8mm is so wide you have to be on top of your subject and distortion is HUGE Iwan
