Ok, it's not quite the second week of February.. but he.. February is a short month! The 2006 Skydive Arizona / Dropzone.com Holiday Boogie video is shipping!! Everyone that placed a pre-order or submitted footage, your copy is on it's way.. and there are a couple on its way to Skydive AZ as well. It was bad enough that it is not acceptable really.. it wasnt a little bit.. it would give you headaches watching it. So far what I am hearing is that I should be pretty freakin happy for switching to HD when I did (flying an HC-1)

What kind of flying did you do though? I personally saw a HC-7 act up pretty bad this weekend, the flutter that people were talking about. And that camera was in a box as well.. it happened while sitflying Iwan

Douglas, I have probably 1000+ tandem videos off a King Air.. and this is what I do.. I am rear float, but I pull myself low and into the door.. right in the students face.. On exit.. I launch forward and onto my back.. and the exit looks "almost" as cool as leaving from front float.. and you are always out of the way of the tandem.... From front float, I would think you just have to leave earlier than from rear..

I dump all of them on a cd.. they can trim the fat.. I give the customer an average of about 50 photos.. a couple on the ground as they gear up, a couple by the airplane and during boarding.. a couple on the way up (about half way) and 2 or 3 in the door on exit.. during the exit a burst of about 5-10 Freefall photos about 20 - 25 Landing shots the customer together with friends after the skydive 4 / 5 shots I burn all of them on a cd for them, too much work going through them in between loads.. It's digital the customer expects more photos.. Iwan

Don't reach under the leg attachment point to get to your BOC. That's bad. I'm only mentioning it because the accident that resulted from that action is the reason that I'm planning on getting RSL releases on mine, unless someone here has a good argument against that idea. My only argument against that is that in your case you don't need RSL shackles.. you need a couple more jumps and focus on deploying your parachute properly before strapping yourself into camera wings..

I adjusted your scenario with what I do, I dont see anything wrong with your scenario.. other than immediately grabbing the rears.. that could hurt one day. I am ready to grab them, but i dont actually grab them.

I am shooting HD for all my non tandem video jumps. My tandem videos are still shot with my good ole TRV17 workhorse.. The reason I am not shooting them in HD, is because our video concession can't work with it.... I think if you use firewire out and downconvert to SD and put it on a regular DVD for your customers, you will still blow them away with the picture quality of the footage. The HD cameras, even when the footage is downconverted to SD blow away pretty much any SD miniDV camera out there..
