  1. I don't think anyone could have predicted this at the start of the tournament, but I suppose it is fitting that we take on the current title holders in the final on Saturday. Now if only somebody did a "Tonya Harding" on Wilkinson.
  2. Indeed. Puts paid to my anticipated Southern Hemisphere semifinals. Not complaining too much though. SA is there.
  3. I don't think it is a reasonable comparison. The war in Vietnam lasted at least three times longer, spanned the administrations of several war Presidents, and still got them nowhere. History repeats it self maybe? Well as far as getting nowhere is concerned, I agree with Tonto. Can choppers land on the roof of the embassy building in Baghdad ?

  5. Well, just make sure that the mission is indeed accomplished before stopping, otherwise the fire might just flair up again and burn for a loooong time.
  6. QuoteI have just noticed that south africa has a very very easy route to the final. I think it is guaranteed for south africa to be in the final as the draw is made up... Quote Both our rugby and cricket sides have on accasion come up short because of complacency. Of all the teams in the quarters, England are probably the weakest, with Fiji second, but I do not think that Fiji will be a walk-over. If we do win against them and Argentina nails Scotland, then we will most likely see the 'Gondwanaland' semifinals.
  7. Were you as sarcastic when a 'swoop-mode' for AADs was first mooted? I agree with Lisa: encourage the lad to think rather than just showing how sharp you are.
  8. I bet everyone who sees that is shocked and awed too. How long does it take to accomplish the mission of extinguishing a fire with one of those?

    C++ help!!

While the above statement is technically correct, I don't think that it answers the actual question that was posed. (I don't know C++) - Are both definitions (implicitly)signed?
  10. You are right, of course. I was speaking from a rugby fan's point of view. The Argentinians play a very exciting brand of rugby. Another problem I foresee is similar to what is happening in cricket. Some of the minnows get just good enough to be given Test-status, but are never a real and consistent threat to the 'established' sides. Looking at the current rugby world cup, there are several 'minnows' knocking on the door and if one or more of them want 'in' on the world stage, the calender is going to get very cramped indeed.
  11. I would support that as a starting place. Side note: I seem to remember someone suggesting a "Gondwanaland" series a few years back, Gondwanaland being the original mother of the Southern Hemisphere.
  12. The Super-14 teams are provincial/state teams whereas the Tri-nations are national teams.
  13. One needs specially designed aircraft for that.
  14. Is that your Summer or our Summer? (Our Summer is just about starting now) Are you planning on touring the country or staying more or less in one area? If so, which area? What kind of touristy stuff interests you? Game parks, nature, historical sites, bus tours, shark diving, etc? Will you have your own transport? You narrow it down a bit, and we will find a way of ensuring that you have a good time!
  15. And outsprinting Habana in the process! Not our best game, but still, what a pleasure to see the Spingbok backline running the ball wide. Full props to Eddie Jones.
  16. We (SA) have had fixed speed cameras for years and on any given day I'll drive past three or four hand-held speed cameras going home from work. Our courts started unconditionally accepting 'camera evidence' several years ago. Although a pain in the *ss, the system works well, especially at known speeding spots. Lately we have also been able to check and pay our traffic fines via the Internet. So, from seeing the camera's flash through to paying the fine, no contact with any law enforcement agency is required!
  17. No expert but I did several of my SL progression freefalls from a C210. It was quite a long time ago but I recall it to be spacious and quite fast to altitude. The one we used had retractable landing gear, which made for tricky exits for a beginner.
  18. In another thread you said: Curious.
  19. Amazing photograph. I'm surprised that Steve was able to reinflate his canopy from that! (I have never done CRW so I don't know the dynamics of such a situation.)
  20. Sounds like a magnificent specimen. I just can't imagine why posters down-thread would want you to shoot him? To destroy that animal for an adrenalin rush, bragging rights, what? Stalk him with your camera (without telescopic lense), and 'shoot' him up close. Surely that is enough? I don't want this to end up in SC, where it will turn into another mindless debate, so I have attached a photo of a handsome young Kudu bull, 'shot' up close. He lived to be 'shot' another day.
  21. Found the spider on my lawn. The moth with the 'eyes' was sitting against my lounge window - very pretty. Prawn - over here these are called ParkTown Prawns. Really just a 'king cricket'.
  22. Only if he can also do inane 'anti Brit' polls.
  23. It is common practice among Muslims to name the first born male child Mohammed and the first born female child Fatima. Your misguided obsession with that name is just that - a misguided obsession.
