A search for the word 'unelectable' yielded several hits. This one about Hillary was posted as far back as 2004:- "She's unelectable in a national election. This isn't going to change." And more recently, about Obama:- "He's unelectable for a myriad of reasons." Have things changed? From my vantage point as an interested foreigner, it certainly appears that they both are not only electable, but quite popular too.

Yes, but does she inhale swallow?

And any beer bottles found on the floor simply got thrown out the door?

Your input is appreciated, Max. On one hand, I felt like it _could_ be a steroid issue if they do indeed give him an advantage; whereas, I also believe in someone with any physical disability showing the world - their abilities. And, what better medium than the Olympics. Although I am obviously a bit biased, I too agree, if the blades do indeed give him an advantage. Max, didn't I see a pic of you jogging with the Pres using somewhat similar blades? As a matter of interest, we also have a female swimming amputee who regularly competes (without aids of course) against able-bodied swimmers. Her name is Natalie du Toit.

In another thread someone was politely asked if he knew how offensive a post of his was to millions of Christians. The first response the poster got was by someone trying to be even more offensive. A little respect is all it takes. Alas, from what I see in this forum, respect is a rare commodity. A lot of folks seem to take pleasure in being as rude and offensive as possible. The biting insults traded daily, the frequent use of vile profanities, the complete intollerance demonstrated all the time - all in the name of freedom of speech, no doubt - suggests that there is a long way to go to simple respect for each other. It is very apparent that those posters who conduct themselves with dignity and respect immediately seem to be the more tolerant and respectful, and invariably their posts are the ones that I prefer to read.

Do they play the banjo there?
-
Indeed. Here in South Africa one of the world's largest breweries (SAB) took Laugh it off promotions to the Constitutional Court because of their parody of the Carling Black Label logo. SAB lost.

It is always fun to have England's Barmy Army at cricket matches here in SA. They drink a lot, sing a lot, cheer a lot, but they never make trouble. The rules below (from their web site) sum them up nicely.

There is an awful lot of icon-bashing happening in this forum when clearly the Govt. Beauracrats are the ones that should be bashed.

Datum. I use to wind my old boss up by writting writing "These data" in all of my documents
-
Makes one wonder what the singular of data would be. Nope. It is a good thing. I am almost anal about correct grammar and spelling, and I frequently find myself proof-reading someone's report, rather than reading the content.

In the example quoted above, why would one need a neutral pronoun? Why wouldn't one want to disclose the gender? The patient was either male or female. Simple. That, and the fact that there was only one patient any way!

I hope that Lori won't mind me quoting her, but I didn't want to hijack the thread this comes from, and this quote is a good example of my query. I see this quite frequently in the forums, and mostly by American posters. I'm curious :- why the plural?

Alternatively, using "Insert; page numbers", click "Format" and set "Start at" to zero. Then uncheck the "Show number on first page" box.

Unless of course you are Trevor Immelman and just won $1.4 million at Sun City (South Africa) with your putter.

Very interesting. I did some research and found several references to the USS Bunker Hill and it's aircraft with the white arrows. Attached is a (small) picture of a model of a Corsair which flew from USS Bunker Hill, displaying the markings.

Just out of curiousity, should one read anything about American pilots in the two white arrows on the Avenger in the picture I posted earlier?
