What can we do about Skyride?
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If what you say were true, then there would be more DZ accepting their certificates instead of a declining number of participating DZs. Also, many posts in this thread describe the reduced profit that a DZ sees for a skyride student, and the other hassles that accompany being a skyride participating DZ. Hi sundevil I was only talking about the DZ's that are continueing to accept skyrides business. These DZ's are well aware of skyrides business practice's & commitment to customer service. But have chosen to do business with them anyway. I'm sure these DZ's are doing it because the cost/benifit ratio is in their favor. The DZ's that won't accept skyrides business do it for the reasons you mention, and many other's that theirs no point in repeating. Over the last couple of year we've seen major scandles in the business community (Enron et al) skyride is just little fish in a big pond of business's with "questionable" ethic's. I suspect that unless Skyride decides on their own to stop doing business (for whatever reason) or are convicted of criminal charges it will be business as usual as long as some DZ's will enable them by acccepting their business. What can we do about Skyride?
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Exactly, so why not put together a list of DZs that accept their certificates. I'll start the list: Skydive Greensburg (Indiana) Hi sundevil You you dirty rat, Snitch, you you Scab you Do the DZs that accept Skyride's "business model" really care what the rest of the skydiving industry think about them? I doubt it as long as the supply of skyrides confused tandem baggage keeps on knocking on their door with their overpriced certificates. The only thing Greenbuger needs is a runway, a plane, some worker bee's & tandem baggage.Oops almost forgot USPA membership. R.I.P. -
Hi P_M Don't sweat the ride from orlando. I'm guessing the skydiving family will help a sister out. Let us know if they carry your rig and bags to the car. R.I.P. R.I.P.

QuoteJust finished reading Mike's editorial in the latest issue of Skydiving. He puts forth the idea that alot of DZO's aren't working hard enough to "grow" the base of new jumper's, preferring to cater to the tandem business instead. Hi Airdvr Good question

[N] is it possible to pack your chute backwards?
slug replied to superman0710's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi Superman Hooking up the canopy backwards shouldn't happen with a line check But if you find yourself in this situation Stay cool Remember that pulling on the left brake line (your left) will turn the canopy in the opposite direction. Just head for a open field, set up for a long final into the wind (you may be going backwards) and flare like usual -
Looks like a BMF mud puddle on the DZ. Hope they don't land in that muck! Yuck! R.I.P.

I realize that prison life is no walk in the park, but perhaps if hard time were really hard time, it would be a deterent... If a life sentance looked like: sufficient food, water, shelter, and big rocks into little rocks (or something along those lines) until they drop... no extraordinary medical care (i.e. you don't get to go to the top rated cancer hospital in the world for free), no TV, no books, no smokes, etc... 3 hots (or colds) and a cot, and hard labor... J For lifers I am all for that as long as their civil rights are still in tact. For others you would need to keep them seperated so you could work on rehab and trying to find a way to integrate them back into society. This would keep them away from the "I have nothing to lose" attitude the lifers have. I think it's already like that in some prisons. Wa state just went smoke free in their prisons. Got a toothach prison dentist only does extractions really bad people have to stay in their room. etc. R.I.P.
