What can we do about Skyride?
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Damn Why didn't i think of that? Syrides bussiness model is better (worse) than I thought. Great way to maximize their profits and run unsuspecting (sucker) DZ's out of business. Poor customer service can work for skyride due to complain to the BBB Not particapting DZ's might make some go under so skyride can buy them out Slick.....Very dirty but when you play with the devil you get burned. Hell of a business model!! R.I.P. -
Who's Made Civilian Jumps from Military Aircraft?
slug replied to wartload's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hi wartload Thanks for setting me straight. I wasn't complaining about jumping out of choppers for $1 a pop. just recalling some of the jokes we heard from the army people . Blackhawk people to huey people "skid for kids" Forget the comeback about the blackhawk wheels vs skids. We were also recieved a daily safety brief not to hang our legs on the skids during T.O. skids would collapse during a crash. Hydraulic leaks The CH-47 leaked bad right over the ramp. That was the only chopper that we jumped that where we saw hydraulic fluid on the floor and dripping on your rig. No fun taking baby steps onto the bird or when exiting. A couple years later we jumped a newer model chinook No leaks over the ramp or fluid on floor -

What can we do about Skyride?

Hah, finite number of tandem riders? Like there are a finite number of amusement park goers too right? So Six Flags shouldn't agressively advertise because it's only stealing well deserved business from Disney World, right?? I think by now you should realize how ridiculous what you were saying is. Hi NinjaSwooper Ok your correct, I'm wrong -
Hi fly girl Googles or giggles R.I.P. BTW how tall are you

i am sure you will see much more flesh... that is 220 sq ft of love they are wrapped up in !!! How tall are they R.I.P.

What can we do about Skyride?
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No, it was in Skydiving magazine.[/reply Hi Triple7 Me bad Thanks for the clarification. Still don't agree with the author's conclusion. There's only a finite number of Tandem riders. By skyrides "agressive" advertising, questionable marketing, and business model they are scamming potential local tandem riders to drive past the local DZ to one of their contracted DZ's sometimes located hundreds of miles away. It took the gov't decades to react to the abuses from the telemarketing industry that affected the whole country. Skyride will be around for a long time befor/if the govt takes any action. "Complain to the BBB" R.I.P. -
What can we do about Skyride?
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
[replyIt ends by saying that thousands of people would never have skydived had it not been for Skyride. (Um I disagree. If they really wanted to skydive they would have found a place anyway) Its just more of the same. USPA printed that Their editor must have been on a business trip and failed to proof the article due to a tight publishing schedual. To bad I'm no longer a member of USPA so I can't show my disapproval by withdrawing my membership. IMO USPA is part of the problem with skyride, when they fail to check the facts befor they print a story like that. R.I.P. -

I met both Norm Heaton and Jack Bergman. I was born in the 50's. RIP - Jack and I may run into Norm some time again. . We met Jack in the early 70's He was a "funny" guy to read. He told us he was the estimator for the company that won the bid for the St Louis Arch. On time and on budget.

You asked for it Upon reaching 65, old Tom decided to retire. After having him under foot for a few months, his wife became very agitated with him. She suggested he go and do something to occupy him like join a club or get a hobby. Old Tom obliged and went out for a couple of hours. When he got home his wife asked about his day and he replied, "Oh, I just went down to the corner bar and hung out with the guys. Oh yeah, I joined a parachute club too." "What? Are you nuts? You're 65 years old and you're going to start parachuting?" "Yeah, look I even got a membership card." "Old man, you need glasses! This is a membership in a PROSTITUTE CLUB!" "OH, GREAT! NOW WHAT AM I GONNA DO? I SIGNED UP FOR 5 JUMPS A WEEK!! R.I.P.
