Yep. A small place that puts tandems in front of everyone else all the time (sure, they need money, but waiting for a load from 10:30am to 16:15pm is just too much). And the people there got an attitude... like everybody who has been jumping anywhere else than at their small cosy place has no idea of the real thing... no thanks. I'm not going back there. Based on my experience Some DZ's develope a cult like attitude. It can happen when the people hang out together every weekend in their own little universe shareing their adrenilan. The DZO needs a staff so they get special attention which also helps develope the cult mentality. R.I.P.

Speaking in general terms not about sebastion. Some people cash out at the end of the everyday. The DZ's not a bank. At one DZ I paid the DZO with cash at the end of the day, then got a call because I forgot to pay befor I left. Lesson learned pay be check. In any business some employee's need a little extra cash flow and use poor judgemeent. My Dr recently found that out the hard way. R.I.P.

Sorry dude this isn't about a particuler DZ. I've never been to your DZ if I was passing thru and jumped there I'd take it a face value, base my decision on the vibes I got.

Thanks sean See my reply to kitty. Don't worry be happy Of course your entitled to your opinion. The subject of this thread is Bad DZ's. You don't know how many of my 1300 jumps were used to give back to low timers. 10% -50% assume what you want. Jumping is supposed to be fun

Hi Kitty Thanks for your input.Lets remember the subject is bad DZ's If I wanted to help someone out I wouldn't have traveled 2000 miles and slept in a tent. I would have stayed home and jumped at the local DZ and did a fun way way with a low timer. We weren't asked to help the low timer we were drafted. I'm not a employee of the DZ I'm a customer. If I wanted to help someone out the choice should have been mine. Earlier in the week we jumped with two low timers by ourself one insisted on not wearing a jumpsuit. Instead of a nice three way drill drive we ended up with a challenging two way with the one jumper (the one without the jump suit) someplace, not good for safety. I won't comment on your opinion of my attitude. But I do have another funny story about a bad DZ. A buddy invited me out to the local DZ for a 10 way from a porter, dirt dive 10:00am. We show up prior to the appointed time and found out the loads already had 10 people manifested. To bad so sad. We lurk the load and everyones just hanging out. all nine of them. One hour later one of the other jumpers girlfriend shows up (she had the tenth slot) she wasn't packed, had a new canopy that wasn't even connected to the risers.

QuoteJust wondering, we all favor certain dropzones for many reasons, whether it be the people, the planes, the vibes, the free beer, whatever. But has anyone here been to a dz that they absolutely hated and refuse to go back because it sucked THAT bad??? So come on, post your nasty dz experiences. Here's just one for now if the thread continues I'll be back with another one, and if......

Hi Nutz Sometimes it not the DZ it's the person working behind the desk using "poor judgement" having a bad day whatever you want to call it. Maybe he/she will get some retraining in customer service, and a spanking. Gotta love DZ.com. Better than the BBB R.I.P.

Hi Lou The canopy is rated for 360 lbs at 150 keas. The make a hybrid version called the MT-1Z, same canopy but with a ZP top skin that is rated to 450 lbs. Sparky Joke Hmmm That's a extra 35 kilo's. Nice "safety magin" for a big boy. R.I.P. BTW Martha Stewart got in deep do do for $40k. 20-20 what was she thinking. "Poor" lady is going to get free room and board for a short time. I'm guessing she gets stuck with the top bunk.

Hi JJ I'm thinking there's lot's of the new wave folks that started jumping with the collapisble PC's without problems. If they can you can
-
Hell, if that's the case why not do it right and get either a rucksack or an Eagle equipment bag. I have put 2 rucks into one before and jumped it and that was a lot of weight*** Hi Lou What's your guess at the total load capacity of the rig.? When you were working for uncle sugar dressed for a day at the office I assume you used one of those rope things so you didn't have to land with all those toy's Whats that rope/strap gizmo called and how is it stowed and released befor landing? R.I.P.

Hi Dragon thanks for the websight Nice full service DZ. Kids with play station , dogs playing with other dogs

We had a howard at our DZ in Fulton Mo for a while. Don't know about the mod thing, Big ass radial engine and the pilot used to bitch after every T.O. because of the engine torque and rudder peddle required to keep it on a straight line during T.O roll. The pilot complained but also enjoyed flying it

IMO the transition period from rounds to squares was a testing phase. With the jumping public doing some of the testing. Packing the ropes and rings with the half hitch plus the "trim tabs" on the risers just in case the canopy had a built in turn We watched the guy's at the DZ switching from the latest sq to the newest sq's as the design's were refined but I still didn't trust them. Kept on jumping my round When It was time for me to convert to the square's like everyone else so I quit for 10 yr's. Checked back in and it looked like the sq's had gotten as reliable as the rounds., and the piggy back could fit my short height

Two years. Just popped the reserve the first step to getting my gear ready. So who knows might be ready to do some jumping this summer. R.I.P.

Lesson learned: a lot of places ( Gov't , private, relationships) have "NO" people (a-whole's whatever you want to call them) The reasons for this type of attitude vary If the No answer isn't acceptable just got to find another way to get the job done. I think your method was cost effective and well worth the effort. Small claims court would have taken up more of you time. Attaboy

No, that's what the 100rd mag was made for. It sticks out the bottom of the magazine well something like nearly 12". I've never seen one in person, although it would be a seriously cool piece to have. Not for any other reason then to just have a 100rd magazine while standing on the range. That'd get some attention. I was curious so I got out the ruler (man thing) the 32 rd glock mag is 8.5 inch's long and extends 4 inch's past the bottom of the magazine well. so I'm guessing at 3 times the ammo 3 time the length mag would be approx 24" long and extend 20" past the bottom of the mag well. A 24" mag with 100 rds of 9 mm upside the head would cause someone a big headach. Not bad for a backup in case the gun jams but to damn heavy to carry around (the mag). Plus a 24" mag would probably get ruined hitting some hard head

We were jumping rounds on a farm in Ks and someone decided to locate the pea gravel pit 100 yds or so from the road and power lines that ran next to the road. Due to the prevaing winds are approach would be righ over the power lines. We were young and dumb and didn't understand how bad those little lines on the wooden poles could be. We probaly lucked out some by missing the DZ. But we did have some close calls no injuries but did shut off the power to the next town once. After I left the area a s/l student landed in the lines and got hurt "very bad" in front of her kids and family. Once were were drivng from the same DZ to another one that had a twin beech and passed by Big transmission lines steel towers etc. Damn they were close to the DZ and it didn't take a rocket scientist to know they were very bad. This was around 1970 and most of us were vets, the army guy in the car a ex LRP SP? guy says no problem want me to blow it?.. LMAO couldn't tell if he was serious or not uh no thats ok will just have to miss them or die. The few jumps we made there we never got close to those lines. Wish I could have said the same for those little sissy looking one's at our home DZ. Young and dumb. Of couse we were trained what to do in case we went thru the lines but I think that was wishful thinking. R.i.P.

I was going to use that shortcut than said whoops don't go there. The secret service needs to use whatever tools available do their job. Or we wouldn't be happy. They got a tough job 24/7 360 degree's. I don't know if it will happen in my lifetime but I expect the president will eventually be a talking head on T.V. because of the threat. Like book 1984 R.I.P.

Is Bush's use of 9/11 footage in campaign ads in poor taste?
slug replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
GW was in the wrong place at the wrong time.He inherited the peroblem. Don't really understand why he needs it. GW: "it's the economy stupid",( not you jb) loss of jobs, national debt, lack of accountabilty, Fubar in Iraq, and the growth of big brother. GW's staff has $100million to run his reelection campaign another bad move. We will never forget 9/11 we don't need $$$$ to remind us. R.I.P. -
I've got a book on the nistory of the glocks but this is the first time I heard and saw a full auto. I'm guessing this is what the 32 rd mag was made for. When reagon was shot one of the secrete service guy's whiped out a uzi from under his suit jacket. I'm sure the G18 has a special purpose

Sorry to see you gotta start digging in the dirt. So you think everyone is wrong except you. I'm honored to be mentioned in the same slam as the prof. and Bill. R.I.P. Hi Bill, Hi Prof, my names R.I.P.

Dirty Politic's goes on all the time IMO a new low water mark. Right, left, Democrat, Republican still don't make it right. What were they thinking!! Dumb way to start a reelection campaign. R.I.P. -
What was "Mr" Delap Jumping? Did he almost always land in the peas? Was he around for the "wing wars" sound like he would have needed a tent. I really admired those big guy's they really had to want to jump. Frenchies a very good PLF and the Peas. Did you know Jack Bergman? I met him once at the same time I met Bob Spraque. Jack had a great "attitude." R.I.P.
