Anyone wanna solve an Implicit Differentiation problem?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
No, because that would be flat out differentation with respect to x. This is "implicit" differentation, so you have to implicitly differentiate y with respect to x. So, the problem : x^2 + y^2 = 6 would implicitly differentiate with respect to x : 2x + 2y(dy/dx) = 0 I don't know this stuff very well either. I think I learned a little of this in Calc II, but I didn't see it in Calc III and I am just now seeing it again in Diff eq. I wish i'd have paid better attention b4. Angela. -
Anyone wanna solve an Implicit Differentiation problem?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
Yeah, but I guess my line of thought was that the derivative of e^ax would be ae^ax, so if you treated e^xy as y being a constant at first, you'd pull it out, then differentiate the exponent as a product. I guess I see what you're saying, I can't treat y as a constant to begin with. Very weird, so the derivative of e^xy with respect to x is only e^xy * x(dy/dx)+y not ye^xy * x(dy/dx) + y ? It is so odd that even though you're differentiating with respect to variable x, you're treating y the same as dependent variable x at first (not pulling it out as a constant). Any insight that might help me accept this? I don't know why i'm having such trouble with this, most other problems are coming out fine.... except I HATE this TI-89 calculator! thx! Angela. -

Anyone wanna solve an Implicit Differentiation problem?
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
I know i'm just not seeing something, here. Implicitly differentiate with respect to x. e^xy + y = x - 1 I keep thinking to differentiate e^xy with respect to x you get ye^xy * x(dy/dx)*y so I get ye^xy* [x(dy/dx)*y] + dy/dx = 1 But, the book says the next step was : e^xy*[d/dx(xy) + dy/dx = 1 What am I not seeing here? ? :( I can't very well know if this is a soln to the diff eq I have if I can't even do implicit differentation, ahhh! Helllppp! Angela. -
Oh, thank goodness i've been enlightened with this information! Now I can change my mind and go vote for Bush instead! translation: who cares? lol! angela.

Depending on my mood that day, either their best, or worst feature. I can't say i'd notice their eyes, etc... what if they have a huge wart on their nose, surely that will be the first thing I notice. Angela.

Catholics with wheat allergies condemned to hell.
SkydiveNFlorida replied to PhillyKev's topic in Speakers Corner
This was obviously meant to be! Now the little girl is denied by her "faith" and she can start to think about what she really believes for herself. Who would possibly want to be a part of a religion that would deny a little girl because of an allergy? How retarded! Isn't the wafer a symbol anyhow? I see no reason why they have to be so anal about it. She is allergic to wheat, she still took a symbol of the 'body of christ', what's the damn difference? It's not like Christ's body was made of wheat anyhow Angela. -
I think that's the point. He's saying that many claim, since we didn't find WMDs, that the reason for invasion was for "Iraqi freedom". If that were the case, then the question would become, "Why Iraq?". The way I read the post was that it didn't make sense to change our reasons for invasion because we didn't find WMDs. Isn't the war now called "OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM" or some bullshit like that? Angela.

How many jumps before you purchased your own rig?

Where is the < 50 jumps choice? Angela. -
something i noticed in the classifieds
SkydiveNFlorida replied to jtny10's topic in Gear and Rigging
Make sure to check out local shops, etc. I looked on the classifieds here, and had a rig sent to me to pending fitting, etc... but, it was too small. I was bummed, and had it packed up for shipment back. I visited my dz at the time (Sebastian), and I just happened to find a rig that fit me pretty good right there in the dropshop! I know that their old rigger used to sell stuff occassionally as well. So, be sure to check out your local dzs, and the listings at gear stores online in addition to the classifieds here. Good luck! angela. -
If you're not interested, you wont retain anything. The trick is, find something cool about it. What cool things can you do with said info? And, most of all, look at the bigger picture. Remember what your goal is. You want to set up networks, troubleshoot, whatnot? Whatever it is, just remember what you're working toward, and try to see how the info you are learning will apply. Sometimes the weed out classes for undergrad engineering get to me, but I just try to see the bigger picture. I used to hate calculus, but after reading more theory, and doing less problems, I started to enjoy it. I HATED Physics... but decided to pick up a non-textbook physics book by Brian Greene, and I realized that this stuff is pretty interesting. So, even when i'm in a part that sucks (this applies to your current class), I just look at the bigger picture and it helps me to focus and learn it. And, NOTECARDS, NOTECARDS, NOTECARDS. Make a set of notecards with important info. Then, make them again. Read them, expand on them on paper, then make a new set of notecards w/o looking at the last. This helps me remember formulas, maybe it can help you. :) Don't give up!! Cooking is for your freetime Angela

I agree, she is awesome! I loved her in concert last year here in S. Fla. Amazing voice, and just a beautiful person. She stood barefoot on stage, in a frumpy type dress, just being herself. I forget who she opened for, but I was just there for her and left shortly after. I can't wait until she comes back! Angela.

That will vary person to person. Demo, Demo, Demo! And, like has been said, definitely jump some in-between canopy sizes before going to a 170 (if that is what you choose). Angela.

My thoughts exactly. Angela.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is TOO funny, Lisa! Angela.

wtf does that have to do with the child choking? Who cares about what movie they were seeing. The real shame is that they didn't scream in every theatre asking if someone knew CPR! I don't think a 3 year old can really comprehend Alien v Predator. I can see how it might be a questionable movie, but if it is pg-13 then the parents hold the right to decide. And, personally, it doesn't bother me one bit. I doubt the child would need years of counseling because he was taken to a silly movie. Since he's dead, I guess we'll never know, huh? Angela.

I got a 2-pc ff suit from Ouragan suits (www.ouragansuits.com), Nancy is a doll and she made it very nice and feminine for me. She will do ANYthing you can draw. I live in S. Fla and wear the top about 2 months max out of the year. It is hot here, so i'm glad I have the option to just wear the pants. I've also seen pictures of Firefly suits and they are nice as well, although (i've heard) might take a little longer. I never bought a belly suit. I'm glad I didn't waste my $$ on that. Buy a suit for what you plan to do! If you want to do belly, buy a belly suit. If you want to freefly, buy a freefly suit. Angela.

600-Pound Woman Dies After Being Surgically Removed From Couch

I bet if you were 300-600lbs you could Scary thought. What useless family! Angela . -
I guess what i'm really asking here is, IS THIS LEGAL? Are police allowed to randomly disturb businesses (which are operating during THEIR business hours)? If the guy needs a heavy glove to do the training, i'm sure as hell not staying out there. If they were here in actual pursuit of something, I would not feel so violated. But, just to come out and TRAIN their dogs here, that seems a bit obserd to me. Angela.

pm bendywendy, she's cool and will surely help you out:) angela.

Hi all. I work nights and just walked outside for a walk around the bldg. There were 6 K-9 units outside. When I asked the guard what was going on, he told me that the police said they were doing K-9 training (were going to chase the dogs around the bldg!). Shouldn't they have a facility for this? Is this safe? I promptly went back inside, not wanting to be bitten by a dog today. This can't be legal... CAN IT?? Let me know what you think, so I can send an e-mail to facilities if this is abnormal (seems it to me!) Angela.

In that case, why don't you just tell her to find a better friend to be MOH because you don't care enough about the important things in her life to be called a good friend (you sound more like an acquaintance). That would be WAY more reasonable than showing up for an hour and leaving so that you can watch some planes fly around in circles. Just tell her that you're roommates and you are sorry but you're not up for the responsiblity of being her maid of honor. JMHO. Angela.
-
You're the maid of honor, you should WANT to be at the shower. The airshow will come back around, ... hopefully she'll only be married ONCE! If you were really good friends, there would be no question. Not trying to offend you too terribly, but this is without a doubt my unbudging opinion. You should be there for a good friend's wedding shower, especially if you're the maid of honor. Angela.

Option to expand classifieds
SkydiveNFlorida replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Yup - and I like dancing girls and a pina colada ... Jut kidding! It's impossible to design for everyone. I will look at some options to allow users to remove some of the default fields in the tables to create more space on the screen for the essential information. I don't know, I don't think i'd want to remove fields, just that bar/column on the left (manage ads, etc). I actually liked it better when you could see the sellers name. I don't trust buying from anyone I haven't heard from, and that helped to weed out b4 clicking. But, hey, your site, and you'll do as you please and should not have to change if you really don't want to. Just a suggestion, I figured other people probably had the same problem. I still glance at the classifieds, albeit not nearly as often. thx Angela
