  2. i guess he is not very good birdman flyer. 91 is way to high. 40 will be good :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  3. it doesn't hard for her to pull front riser, she can pull it, but he canopy response seems to be to slugish. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  4. i think it wasn't recalled. i'm not quite sure though. thanks for info. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  5. hi! i have a friend who flies original crossfire-119 loaded approximately at 1.25. she complains that at that wing load the canopy doesn't want to make front riser turn even if she hangs on it with all her weight. it does turn but so slowly that she doesn't even bother doing any riser turns. she does toggle hook turns instead which really worries me. she tried crossfire-87 and didn't have any problem with riser turns on that canopy, but she still flies her 119. can anybody flying crossfire at ~1.25 wing load comment on that ? thanks, stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 6. nop, but there is no restriction for body position, so if you feel comfortable on your belly, you should enter the competition. :) what's your top speed ? stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  7. i think improper body position or packing will contribute more to line twist then the size of pc. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  8. regarding freefall speed i'm aware of two type of competition - speed skydiving and pro-track challenge. in first you try to go as fast as possible and in second - as slow as possible. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 9. If you're packing a lot, a closing pull tears the hell out of your hands and they start to fall apart pretty quickly. That and as the day wears on, you get tired, it gets harder and harder to keep a really good grip on a closing pull and close containers, sometimes. Basically the point wasn't to get flamed, the point of my original post was to say that if everything else is in order and you're still having problems getting it closed, one of those tools gives you an edge. Easier to grip, easier to get leverage with, easier on your hands and you'll find neat tricks that metal bar can do (for breaking rubberbands free of the bag when they just don't want to leave after breaking, for example). Do you *have* to have one? No, unless you're packing one of the new Sigma tandems, does it help otherwise? Yup, I never thought of getting one until I became a staff packer, now I wish I would have bought one a long time ago. didn't mean to start flame either. my point is that sometimes 100 lbs girl has less problem closing student rig with spring loaded pc then big guy, just because she does it right. i'm not saying that power tool is bad or unnecessary, it makes job eaiser, especailly if you're a packer and pack a lot. but if you have too much trouble packing i would suggest to pay more attention to the way you do it. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 10. proper closing technique will help a lot more then any power tools. use your rig as a leverage when you close it. if it tkaes to much efforts it just means that your closing loop is way too short or you just do it wrong. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 15. i coouldn't be happier with my odyssey. as for the main flap - never had problem. one thing though - you should have canopies of the size recommended for your container. not bigger not smaller. i used to have sabre-170 in j1 and it looked a little bulky. when i switched to safire2-149, rig looked much better, all the flaps now are flat, gromets are on each other and main flap is very secure. here it is in attachment :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 16. no, i didn't. are you sure this info is correct ? they still have this option on their form. i understand it doesn't garantee they do :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  17. Mario, Thanks ! You did very thorough job with all those pictures ! :) I took a good look and honestly I couldn't tell what the difference was between Mega and Mega Airspeed ! I have Mega with zippers and w/o zippers they will look pretty much the same as Airspeed. Do you know where the difference is ? Sorry to be the pain in a butt :) stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  18. hey, thanks man ! :) i haven't received them yet, but hope i'll get em soon. so which one you have, airspeed or xl ? stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum
  19. basically because air friction is not my problem yet. i have problem with stability. latex suit will make me even more unstable. plus it doesn't have booties (there were limited number with booties) and botties help me a lot. i have enough acceleration and enter speed measurement zone at very high speed, but can't hold long enough to scrore good results. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 20. tracking. since i have excess of vertical speed i have to bleed, all that speed goes to horizontal one and as result into lift that slows me down to 40ish instead of 100 as in my regular track. my best so far was 41 mph. funny when i go back to regular body position after my track i feel like falling and i'm not very stable since i'm going at much slower speed. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 21. hey Mario, thanks for the replay. is that the one with bunjee cord ? i'm not quite sure how it looks like. what the difference between regular mega and airspeed mega provided regular doesn't have any zippers ? and i have no intention to take my booties off under the canopy. my current suit has booties i can't take off and i'm going for even tighter booties. thanks for the pictures, but i can't really see any difference there :) Stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... 22. no, i do it on my belly. i'm too afraid to go headdown, since i'd break the sound barrier and disintegrate ! -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ... Speed Skydiving Forum

  25. for several reasons. first, they streamline my leags and thus reduse drag. second, i'm more stable and and if my legs swing either direction they will fix it quicker and i lose less speed. and third, drag right now is not my problem. my problem is balance&stability. i accelerate very quickly, but can't hold long enough. see attached pic. use of booties is questionable. Mike Brooks, the world champ, was using them for one season and wasn't for another. i think he plans to use them again. when i started jumping with booties my speed greatly improved, so i plan on using them. stan. -- it's not about defying gravity; it's how hard you can abuse it. speed skydiving it is ...
