are you sure that student actually has a grip on the ripcord ? i think it just looks like that becuase of the angle of view. look closely.
-
> Or ripped your arms off? that's most likely :) on my good jumps i expirience around 2G when i brake. wings would definetely do some harm :) on my acceleration path i weigh only about 75 lbs (my weight is 185 lbs). on one of my jumps i either didn't have perfect body position or there was something else that caused my right sleeve to flap against my arm (close to my shoulder where i has some slack) so hard that i discovered nice blue-red bruise when i got down :) at 240+ everything gets weird and violent :)

there was a post recently regarding landing wing-suit. so i decided to share some interesting info :) last sunday was very good jump-wise for me. i reached good speed of 290 mph on one jump (i do speed dives), but i also had another jump that wasn't really fast but amazed me more then i expected. take a look at the pic in attachment. i reached 265 mph, lost my balance, reached 265 again, pull out pretty hard and went to track. so much vertical speed gave my plenty horizontal speed in track to produce a lot lift. and as result it slowed me down to 45 mph ! in regular RW suit. i'll try to get faster next time and slow down harder and see what the slowest speed i can achieve. I think this range of speed might be low enough to crash into the water and survive. not that i'm planning on it, but just an interesting thought :) the timing should be so right though :) stan.
-
how do you know that your speed is 150 ? do you have pro-track ? is it average/max speed ? sas/tas ? 150 is pretty high for average speed even for small and heavy person. i personally trying in quite an opposite direction - speed skydiving. so far 287 mph is my best. it would've been faster if my booty hadn't blown and my jumpsuit hadn't popped open :) stan.
-
I'd also add "Speed Skydiving" - that's my favorite :) Or we can have "other" choise and text field to type in other discipline. Stan.

>> BMW is also working on a hud for motorcyclist (for displaying speed, navigational info etc) in which the systems uses a ring sight hud to my knowledge. Pontiac GrandPrix GTP has it since 1997 .. Very neat thingy. Stan.

HUD altimeter would be so cool ! I'd like to have altitude and current speed displayed. It would be also sweet to have speed over 150 mph displayed in, say, red and whatever is below in blue. Just to know when I slowed down enough to open safely. Stan.
-
that would be cool. i do speed dives and one of them, pro-track or pro-dytter, lies on high (250+ mph) speed. it beeps up to 2000 ft higher then set. i have feeling it's pro-dytter since data downloaded from pro-track says that i started slowing down at 7540 instead of 5500 for some particular jump. but it can beep higher for some reasons even knowing that there is still enough altitude. everything gets weired at high speed :) stan.

hi there ... does anybody know about any visual/flashing systems for audible altimeters ? i know timeout has LED port. can anyone comment on that one ? how good/bad it is ? ideally i would want flashing system for either pro-track or pro-dytter since i already have them both. i remember seeing that they are comaptible with "new generation flash systems" but don't see any ports and can't find any LEDs fro them ... thanks, stan.

hi everybody ! i'm gonna buy Javelin J1, which is rated for PD 143/Tempo 150 reserve and ZP 150 main. I will try to squeeze Tempo 170 and Safire 149 there. Safire has bigger packing volume then regular 9 cell ZP canopies and i wonder how stuffed the container will be. does anybody has similar configuration and can advise me on that ? thanks, stan.

Hi there ! I'm looking for speed dives info. Advises, web links, etc. It looks like I do something wrong or don't do something I should - I stuck with the speed just above 200 mph. My body position is pretty simple - legs straight, arms straight and next to my body, head down. There is something that holds me from going faster. Any suggestions ? Stan, D-24665

In reply to: Actually Sun invented Java...in particular one Patrick Naughton. i didn't say anything about java, did i ? i was talking about java script. it's different. stan.
-
the problem is that after netscape invented java script, microsoft changed it so much that it is not support by netscape any more :) try to avoid using microsoft-specific stuff and everything's gonna work. the best practice for web development - use netscape for testing. stan, c-31743

Moderate drinkers do better on IQ test than nondrinkers. According to Japanese research, small amounts of alcohol improve bloodflow to the brain, enhancing memory and mental function. Men's Health, September, 2001 I think it explains something ... :) Stan C-31743

in response to: --- That would have been my non-smart ass response... along with flare all the way, don't stare down at the ground (look more at the horizon) ... --- i think it's supposed to help when you plan to PLF, because you can't really see how high you are and don't expect the impact and it makes it easy to absorb it. i personnaly wanna know when i touch the ground, because i want to run it out or at least do couple of steps and i don;t plan to PLF it. I'm using Altitron and I'm pretty happy with it. It's very easy to read and it's very precise. Don't think there any particular problems with digital altimeters except that they are more advanced ... :) Stan. C-31743
