It was not ruined if that is what your client wanted. A good tandem video will be all about the student, what they want and how they want it. Most will never jump again, and these pictures will be something they show their grandchildren one day. Just think, you may be inspiring someone to make a skydive generations from now - (wow, look what great grandma did when she was young!)... Yep, I completely agree with you. I don't care if music doesn't "go" with skydiving. Anything can go with a tandem video. Its not at all about what we as skydivers think is right. It's all about what the customer wants to see. They don't work well in freefall in most cases. The principle that a hard drive operates on is an "air bearing" which means that the head rides on a cushion of air. I think a couple people have used them in very specific circumstances but by no means are they a viable general use item for skydiving. My first jump was a tandem and that i was ok with. I did a couple for TMs working on thier rating and I didn't have much fun. Freefall was cool- fucking with the TM is awesome. I got pretty naseaus under canopy though. We don't have that on either of the two I've jumped. Got a pic? I'm curious. Most certainly do. ALL PACs have that. I like the plane. I can't argue with it for the cost of flying it and climb rate. The 350 is a decent amount lighter than the 300, takes bursts of pictures much faster, and has a better track record overall. Been helping my boss with the car phone on his new 7 Series BMW. It has a pocket FOB but it only works for the starter not the door locks. It is getting replaced with the "Real wedding crashers" which I may watch one time just to see some funnies but for the most part I don't care about. Reality tv makes me want to die. Yep I agree. I only wear swoop cords on my camera suit and I would never wear them under gloves. If you wear the left one under a glove you have to in most cases, throw your alti away to get the cord off. If your swoop cords are coming off your hands they are not adjusted right. If I had a camera that was set up for it (i.e. HC3, HC5, HC7) I would shoot in 16:9. Since I don't, I shoot in 4:3 and in post production i crop it. That lets me use a crude form of "pan and scan" to fix issues with centering and to do some image stabalization in after effects. I'm sorry you can not fall as fast/slow any paper thing can. There is a thing called skyball, a tennis ball sized of thing filled with lead. You can tune that with your freefall speed. The bad news is that you might not be allowed to use it everywhere. You might train your canopy/CRW skill with a paper streamer under canopy. NOTE: The explanation he gave isn't really thourough enough. At your jump numbers and assumed skill level countzero you will not be allowed to use a skyball ANYWHERE not even on your belly (they are mostly used in freeflying). That should be followed up with, if you do mange it, don't fuck around. Make sure you get a reserve out. A piliot chute (and possibly other things) in tow through a wing is still a high speed malfunction. Know how to unclip your wings fast and / or to get a reserve out before you die. The way that I have always worked this out is this. Get out and get next to the person. Both start tracking at same time. I wear video and track. As I track I tend to be much higher than anyone who has challenged me to a tracking contest so I just keep looking down at them till pull time or I see them pull. If you look around enough on the video you will get a good reference point. I have always found that it is pretty clear who is a better tracker. At my DZ the list of people who have beat me in a tracking competition is pretty short. Yeah that is the problem to me. I have seen 100s of them and I am bored with the music. I let them pick so they are happy. I have found that I am capable of making almost any music go ok with a video and that the customer just wants to hear something they like. The very few times I have picked music the person has not liked it. "You picked the wrong song of xyz genre I hate that song" and so I dislike picking music. The customer is always right. I like the swoop cords just for extra range. I can go faster and slower with them on than if I didn't use em. But I'm also a sucker who uses booties on his camera suit. So... p.s.
