I jump the 15mm sigma fisheye. Some people say they hate the fisheye look, but with the digital cameras it isn't that bad and tandems never get to see fisheye pictures of themselves / can't tell in the air. Works for me! Here are 2 from this weekend and a door shot. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. This coming weekend Sky Knights in East Troy, Wisconsin will be hosting a Robinson R44 helicopter. It seats 3 jumpers and is a pretty new helicopter. Hope to see some of you out there to jump! Questions? Comments? Coming out? PM me! ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Snapped both my Brake lines!

And you would be wrong to make that assumption. They are for all intents and purposes completely different canopies. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka -

not to nitpick, but anything you do while daisy chaining your lines / carrying your rig in / whatever... has nothing to do with how your slider is positioned durring packing. The easiest way for your slider to get out of place is poor slider control when you are folding the canopy into the bag. Other problems can include bad quartering though I have found that to be much less likely of a problem. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Can it be time for reline? How many jumps do you have on that set of risers too? You should be replacing those at least every 250 jumps. Replace risers every 250 jumps? Really? Mine have close to 2000 jumps on them and they are only showing minor signs of any wear. I do NOT jump in a desert / dusty cliamate. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. The problem is that the actions of individuals often affect others in some way, shape, or form. While that is true and I understood it writing what I wrote, the problem comes when society feels that it must continue to takes steps up the "ladder" so to speak in preventing problems. Regulate the things that individuals do that affect others, not the things that they do which only affect there own person. Given the context of this thread you could make an argument that abortion does affect another, but I don't have a problem with people arguing about what constitutes a person. I know you are going to split hairs and not really see the message that I am trying to make, but thats ok with me. The problems with a lot of this is that society has taken the control of many of the things that I think an individual should be responsible for. That would make many of the laws that we have unessecary. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I'm not sure about the cloning, but I'm fine with the others. Blues, Dave The rights of a person to do what they want with thier own body only extend as far as what "society" thinks is right. It is a real shame that "society" thinks that is the way life should work. Life would be much simpler if people worried more about thier own morals than they did about imposing those same morals on everyone around them. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. The porter hit a camera guy, not a student. I have a pretty messed up neck and I jump a crossfire 2 because it has been very forgiving. The openings are consistantly slow and it doesn't do crazy diving spinning stuff. It still swoops great too! ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Just to reiterate what everyone else has said... Get a faster lense or remote flashes, or both. There are limits in photography, especially given the nature of our subject matter. You can't go much slower. I mean, really if you want crisp pictures your going to have to go above and beyond ISO and shutter speed / aperture. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. See this post: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2358819;search_string=visio;#2358819 if you have MS Visio. Backflying with tandems (Was Rocky Point injury)
Fast replied to davepend's topic in Safety and Training
I doubt it. He probably won't make it that long. Everyone got into it with him in the video forum awhile ago. If I ever have the pleasure of meeting him, I will promptly not let him on my skydive. The number of people I am unwilling to jump with is miniscule, but this punk kid is one of them. This wouldn't fly where I shoot video. None of the TMs would tolerate it. I suspect the ones he jumps with are unwilling to do anything about it because his dad is the DZO. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I stow my vector toggles this way as well. For me, if the toggles are stowed right there is almost no way I could reach through the line to grab my risers. I have had a brake fire before and this made a huge difference. Wouldn't want to stow toggles any other way. I never give my rig to a packer w/o stowing the toggles. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. One thought that people never really seem to think about when doing a Mr. Bill is to go up and do the exit a few times to make sure you have things figured out. Don't actually pull the parachute. Practice exiting stable then break off and deploy your own parachutes. I have been on one and been around for some others. I prefer to be the video guy. That isn't to say I wouldn't do it again! ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. If you read the fine print, paypal doesn't really protect you. I used it to buy a neptune and got screwed on the deal. Paypal did NOT protect me because I did not buy the item on ebay. Even so, they wouldn't have really helped me. Paying with a credit card is important because there are other fraud protections that credit cards have. If you complain to your credit card company they will go after the person who screwed them which is much more likely to get a positive result than you trying to go after someone. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 1. I hope to hell they make the sequel w/o notifying Stephen Baldwin. 2. They need to make "Swoop" the central character. THEN, I might pay to see it., I think you have two movies mixed together. Anyways, a sequal to point break would be fucking amazing. The first one brought a lot of business to our sport, which is something I don't think most DZs would complain about. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. I keep a foot on the step and hang from the back of the door. I learned it from another video guy at our DZ. The first time I tried it I fell off the plane, haven't done so since. I haven't done it a lot though because we only jump a 182 in the winter. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Just follow your master rigger's advice!?
Fast replied to UnusualAttitude's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know a lot about my gear, but I also pretty much follow my riggers advice to the T. The point is that I made sure I chose someone I could trust. I have watched my reserve be inspected / packed - hell I have even watched other peoples gear get packed. She always takes care of the stuff I need and does all the little things I forget to do. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
