was it not a paraglider pilot that invented the McConkey? Paraglider pilots have been jumping off bridges long before they got offered a course to do it. I posted something on BLiNC and DZ about asking about PG pilots learning to BASE before skydiving - maybe someone could dig it up - some interesting thoughts (from what I remember)

I have emailed you, can you let me know you have received it. Thanks
-
I have also had problems in receiving mail from people............

http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1 Not sure if this has been posted before - but its a pretty cool version of google............ try out a search on it

I took my rig to FL from the UK in Dec04 - and carried it as hand luggage - no one battered an eye..........
-
any chance of getting copies of this? Something shown in the UK several years ago - "seconds to impact" covered part of this story as he was being interviewed for the documentary whislt in Norway before his accident............. I would be curious to see this version too......... Thanks Michael

im hurt faber, you dont remember the miles and hassles we went through trying to get you your BSEO? Fuck that was a hard week! Groundcrew was especially hard on that B!
-
just curious: what delay did you do? Do you have skysurf experience? Did you have any cutaway system on this board?

I have been looking over the Mozilla search plugins available and see that people have set up plugins for sites. Is this something anyone could do for DZ dot com or other BASE / skydive sites to enhance mozilla for searches on your favourite sites? I am certainly not able to create such a tool, but surely someone here is able to do this? Some sample code is available http://mycroft.mozdev.org/ here. Just an idea................

www.google.com/ie http://www.searchlores.org/nbbw.c I just though this a nice clean clear way of seaching................

Natural selection man. I wish the "mentor" would be at as much risk as the "student". from the sound of it the "mentor" is at as much risk as the student................ any mofo seems to be a "mentor" these days.............grab your mentors by the hand and dont cry about it when you get fucked up......

can someone more able to write and transfer thoughts to paper post something that lists everything wrong with this first jump................ I have PM'd the original poster and had many PM's with others about this thread......... My whole "who thinks this is fucked up" is obviously confirmed - can someone write something sensible and comprehensive on why we think this........... IF you have a mentor that allowed you to have this firstt experience as a first jump - THEN FIND ANOTHER MENTOR! I decided to never post to DZ again - but this post scares me........ is this how US BASE is now? anyone and everyone?
-
am I the only one that thinks this whole situation sounds a bit fucked for a first jump? edit to add: from his report and the conclusions drawn from it..........

I really am ignorant to what perl is.............. I am quite good with Excel and VBA but rather than look the code up and change it to what I want I just wondered if someone could just give it to me! hehehehehehehehehe Not knowing perl, I will try and answer your Q - search all rows in a range for "x" and "y" when found "x" then copy "x+1" to column -1 until y then resume....................
-
I have a spreadsheet that has lines of text on each of the rows in one column. I need the macro to search each row in turn in that column until it finds a set constant of a text string and on finding that then action a copy and paste from the row below to the cells on 1 column back until another set constant is found in the first search column and then repeat down to the bottom of a set range. I think this is the best way (and also possible with some almost simple code) as I used to use something similar on some formatting code I used at work - BUT I have all my code on my PC at work that I accumulated over 5 years but they sacked me after busting my leg and I never was able to get it all back! ARSE! thanks for any help..... PS) I am not great at explaining what I want sometimes!
-
I am looking for someone to help me out with some code. I normally rely heavily on an internet list server for the code for my macros, but the code I need should be easy for someone with "knowledge" to do quite quickly rather than me look, retrieve, and then test, amend, and retest. Can you PM me please if you feel your Excel macro writing skills are able to help! thanks! Michael

If you find some pages wont let you use your mozilla to view them, then you can get a user agent swticher for it (google it) - this will allow you to fool the pages you are using IE or any other browser you want. There are lots of handy addons for Mozilla.

yup but i can tell that jumping solo off a sertain A can get "borring" and i actualy has found it more fun to make "tandems"whith people in the phone(on speaker)asd i jump. example last jump were a solo whith 621 and 813 in the phone. I made a nice count and had to laugh so much on the way down that i went headlow. Now that usaly aint that fun but comt it to a phone while falling, deploying and flying the canopy is way fun. Thanks Mac, i really apritiate that you nearly killed me,it were funny as F#ck. solos can be borring but they sure also can be as intence as you think it might ever will be.. when you do a running exit on an ice ridden metal platform with the shout "you take it up the arse" then I am glad you went head down! - that will teach ya!! - so cocky on the count - not so cocky in freefall! hehehehehe

how is best to get rid of it? I have been told by a Sony shop "just cut it off its cheaper" is it easy to get rid of it whilst keeping the strap in tact?
-
yeah i watched it. I prefered the first one. This one was a bit to much "arty farty" and with the UK runners was kinda unimpresssive. Sebastian the French guy was "very impressive" - amazing skill........... the thing that i was questioning was how some of these runners were allowed access to some decent objects, whereas the owners would certainly not allow us to BASE from them. On Certain objects there is certainly more danger from free running them then having a few of us lobbing off them. But as my GF said, free running is actually visually more interesting then someone jumping pulling and landing, and I (sadly) have to agree. It seems that the market dictates what is acceptable...................... harsh
