Hey Doooooooooooooooooooooood!!!! Love ya work! Welcome to the club! Raise a cold one for you! Congrats mate, for a person to be so passionate and at the same time thoughtful is refreshing to find, nice one mate.............

http://www.google.com/ig With all these services Google offers, it may seem that its "handy" but.................
-
I wish other people had your intelligent approach to it. People are rushing into this thing way to quickly nowadays. Its not just about whether people have the right canopy experience anymore, its hitting other aspects................... How can you expect resepect for the sport when people dont have to work for it?

I have been speaking to someone about modding my helmet (he is a non jumper) and he suggested a hinged mesh cage with padding on a L bracket to lower the weight but still keep protection and minimise snag points. Anyone have any thoughts about this? For information, I am looking to add a camera mount to a NVertigo for a BASE environment and I know fuck all about mounts and helmet mods....... Thanks

If you get a BASE stash bag, you will find this smaller than a normal skydive rig bag, and it will take your rig and other bits and pieces in it. This is how I carry my rig on, and it means you then only have one piece of hand luggage. HTH

aint that the fucking truth! Its a knock on effect and it grows. The pyramid effect happens. Please dont be fucking selfish......... We respect the people before us, so why dont we respect the people involved now or to follow in years to come?

thoughts to the family........... and to friends
-
he edited the "reply to" part of your message that contained the original thread name. I have PM'd you about something.......... be cool

Space, this A has "apparently" recently been day blazed by some inconsiderate people, this seems to be a knock on effect from this. The whole "terrorist" thing is just the police giving their normal thing of giving a reason why we cant do something that they dont exactly know how to deal with................ take it easy man!

can a moderator edit for site names please

wow, you make it look like you knew what he was talking about, but infact you hit a "feelin lucky" on google. To be honest, why rise to things when you end up feeding them, ignore it........ unless you are seeking attention? mmmmmmmm Basically writing a subject like that on a BASE forum is bad form! for gods sake do you not think! We hate to see when we log on a thread with "fatality" or "bad news" or the like - I get a horrible feeling when I see this sort of thing cause the first thing I think is "is this a friend?" - dont put people through this sort of thing just for a kick on getting a post read............ it sucked mate doing that - expect people to slate you for it....... Think before you post bro!
-
well there is that................. I guess I look more deeply in "explained" reasons for things than I should sometimes! Chaos on opening can cause some strange shit.................. but we all like to try and explain why......... (dont we?? )

Ah!! I watched a friend of mine have the exact same thing as this - we could not work out (even after watching the video back many times) why or how this occured. He flew down with his bridle and PC wrapped around his control lines on one side - did you have any thoughts about how this happened?

I have only ever "first hand" witnessed one cliff strike from a gnarly 340ft slightly under hanging wall, the guy I witnessed flew and fought his way down through a few hits, but he ended up walking away from it. The only way he was able to walk away is that he had knowledge of his canopy and how to fly it and he NEVER gave up............... (oh and a bit of pure fucking luck - hehe) to me this is the most important advice - NEVER give up and try and fly it out even when all looks bleak.........

I GC'd a guy last night who I found out had 80 skydives when he started BASE. I asked him if he found he lacked some skills when he did some of his objects (and he has done some hardcore objects) and he said that his profession (professional climber) had prepared him more for BASE than skydiving ever could. His arguement was that dealing with "high stress" situations is half the battle, and I now have to agree. A skydiver who has done nothing but 150 skydives is not prepared to BASE. A skydiver with lots of free climbing and other "high stress" activities is well prepared (as long as they have done the 7 cell prep). I go back to when I had 150 skydives, I thought i was ready for BASE and I met up with 10+ UK jumpers to try and break into the scene and get accepted as someone ready to jump, I was trying to tell these jumpers that "I was ready" and would do anything to jump - I was told "if we see you on an object we are going to kick your head in" - I listened to the stories and watched a guy on crutches wonder about, after this meeting I realised I really was not ready for it.......... I went away with my 150 jumps and spent another 2 years doing accuracy and CRW and then did a FJC when I had 500 jumps.......... I now jump with one of the guys I first met who threated "to kick my head in" and have met a couple of the guys on that first meeting who give me respect that I bothered to go out and do the right thing in being able to jump I had spent 2 years researching BASE when I had 150 skydives and still found that I was not ready although I thought i was, I also got a rough deal from the local jumpers as someone with 150 jumps REALLY IS NOT READY to BASE. Generally 150 skydives is tooooooo low a number to let someone loose back in their home country to think they can go BASE, I gave my example at the start to show sometimes there is an acception, but generally I dont think 150 is a good enough level................ 500 is more realistic.......... Why do the manufacturers offer FJC's at 150 jumps? what is the arguement for this?

My gargoyle has dynamic corners. I choose to have them as I want a "flat" tray as my parachute comes off (in what ever direction). (BTW : I only do flat and stable jumps) I found a nice way to pack with it, I do the one fold and ear roll pack, and have found no problems with this......... you have to be sure about your bottom pin tension with this method though............
-
I always think this is a much better guide then the 150 banded about............
-
If this is true, then the amount of people who would get into BASE is massive. There is an amazing amount of people entering the sport at the moment, some of these people (from speaking to them) seem not to have the knowledge or skills once thought of as needed before BASE jumping. I have even spoken to people who now jump (as it seems fucking easy to get into BASE with all the "courses" available) who have not even heard of "The List" or flown a 7 cell before their FJC's! or know how to pack slider down v up! - I met a guy who did not even know what a mesh slider was before his FJC! We are reaching critical mass here, we are getting reports of day blazing, people doing things they dont have the skill for (B's on jump 8 and the like), teachers taking students to objects they have not even jumped, the list goes on............. People are entering the sport without any concept of working for it or making any effort............. this in the long run is going to be the downfall of the sport....... so to say the list should stand as it puts people off I disagree with - the fact remains - BASE is now trendy and so very easily accessable - and I think (certainly in the UK) we are about to enter some dark times................ the List is never going to stop this............
-
I still stand by the fact that most people I know (personally) certainly have a much lower percentage of legal v illegal jumps than you state................ I guess (again) this has more to do with where you are from and what sort of jumper you are? perhaps I am wrong..............
-
and search this forum for a story recently about the d00d who had no experience, bought his BASE gear then free fell a 100 foot bridge
or number 47 on "The List"
-
I guess then this depends on who and where you are. I would say I could sample a large amount of log books of people I know and I would hazard a guess that the legal jumps are in the low 10-20% region rather than the 75% you quote....
-
you think? day in day out, I dont think this is true........... ok, you may quote numbers of jumps made off the "legal spots" but I would say generally that "most" BASE jumps are made off the objects not allowed............... if thats not the case then I think the sport is going away from its roots................. it makes me laugh to meet jumpers who have never jumped in the dark...........
-
its quite interesting to look back over the royal family history................... you will see a few changes on who are actually "British Royality"
-
their surname is "Windsor" strange, seeing as they have a main German bloodline!
