  1. Wimps.... If you don't do the jump naked, it's just not the same. At our DZ if you go nude, it's the whole ride. Normally it's the whole load and the rule is that the pilot has to fly nude too! And who needs shorts when you've got that big ZP toga? illegible usually
  2. Try Thumbs plus. I think it's a great program. Free trial at http://www.cerious.com Works great for me and it lets you manage offline storage (DVD/CD) One thing to note: DVD's DO HAVE A LIMITED LIFESPAN! http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/ptech/05/06/disc.rot.ap/ illegible usually
  3. More tape! Just export the finished edit back to DV on a dedicated tape. As stated, tape is cheap. If stored properly, it will last a pretty long time, with minimal losses (nothing is perfect) illegible usually
  4. I would like to be able to grab some stills off of the video. I know they are 640x480 but I was wondering about the quality. I just got my 330 last night and played with it a bit around the house. Here is a still (not skydiving) captured off of the video. I think it's pretty damn good for what it is. This was taken in fairly low lighting, indoors with 100w light (incandescent). Beats the heck out of my old POS. As said, the video is very nice! illegible usually
  5. How good are the still images from video? Obviously not as good as a dedicated still camera but the video specs say 2 megapixel resolution on the video. How does this really look though? Any samples of frame captures would be appreciated. Thanks, Eric illegible usually
  6. Yes, I have seriously considered a Mac. I was just thinking about it AGAIN as I was waiting for yet another Premier "render break" last night. I was able to get the PPT transfered to an AVI though. It just sucked a bit. I have used Keynote and I'll admit it blows powerpoint away but NONE of me clients use MAC. Still, I'm very tempted to cross over to the other side. illegible usually
  7. Barge flips over in Texas lake THE ASSOCIATED PRESS AUSTIN, Texas -- Partygoers apparently hoping to catch a glimpse of nude sunbathers crowded on one side of a floating barge, prompting the ship to capsize and dump all 60 people into Lake Travis. Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries Sunday after the rented double-decker barge sank near Hippie Hollow, a lakeside park and the only public nude beach in Texas. The accident occurred during Splash Day, a semiannual event hosted at the clothing-optional area by the Austin Tavern Guild, a gay and lesbian bar association. Witnesses said that all of the people aboard the barge moved to one side as it neared Hippie Hollow, creating uneven distribution and making it tilt. It sank in 50-foot-deep water. Krista Umscheid, a spokeswoman for the Lower Colorado River Authority, said that although everyone aboard was accounted for, Travis County sheriff's divers were checking compartments of the sunken pontoon boat as a precaution. illegible usually
  8. I've always said that it's a tax on people who were bad at math. That having been said, I voted for often. We have a lottery pool at work and I pitch in a buck or two a week because even though I know there's almost zero chance of winning, I couldn't stand being the only person left in the office if they do win. illegible usually
  9. Yes, and a damn good reason to put limits on media consolidation. From the Toronto Star illegible usually
  10. Thanks: I'll give this a try. Yes, I know Powerpoint sux. Definately not the way I would have done this, but since it's already done, and I only have to change 2% of a 20 minute "film" I didn't want to start from scratch. illegible usually
  11. OK, one of my accounts has a video that someone (Who no longer workd there) produced for them. It was somehow made from a powerpoint presentation. They want to modify the presentation and put it back on a DVD. How do you think this was done in the first place? My only guess is to play the PPS on a computer w/ TV out and capture the vid. Please don't tell me this is a stupid thing to do, I know that. I just need to edit this damn thing. I have the orginal PPT, I could disect it and import all the photos to Premier but this will be work (I hate work) Any suggestions... Thanks illegible usually
  12. Thanks! Designed and built it myself. That was B4 I started spending all my weekends falling out of planes tho. illegible usually
  13. DAMN Doesn't anyone want to work anymore? I have been having a really tough time trying to find someone to paint my 1961 Chevy. Anybody out there know someone in the NW who could do a good job on this car? illegible usually
  14. I'm working on that tho I was just bored and reading the new SIM again and I stubbed my brain on that part. I knew the req.s for a PRO were 500 jumps but they (USPA) no longer make all of the rating req.s available without buying the IRM. illegible usually
  15. Thanks, That's a good explanation. I was just wondering if maybe USPA was contradicting themselves somehow. Red illegible usually
  16. Not that I'm ready to get a PRO rating but I was reading the new USPA SIM and it now says "Persons holding a USPA D license are able to exercise all privileges of a C-license holder, are eligible for all USPA ratings..." What about the "D" license holders that got in with the old 200 jump limit? The current SIM doesn't make exceptions. So is it possible for someone to get a PRO or an AFF I with less than 500 jumps? Has this question been asked B4? Thanks, Eric illegible usually
  17. Well I must have gotten lucky also, I love my Batwing. No, it's not the hottest thing around anymore but it's still plenty of fun. (And damn good looking too) Overall I'd agree with Scott illegible usually
  18. Check out www.archive.org. Lots of Cool old video and funny (now) commercials. illegible usually
  19. I'd 2nd this. It's just going to depreciate no matter how you store it. Cash out. If you are smart and can afford to (which you can if you can afford to store it) put the $$ in a CD or buy some short term bond. When you get back - new gear! Red illegible usually
  20. I have one ride on a -MZ 150. It flew just fine. I followed my bag-locked main to a cow pasture and had a nice soft stand-up landing about 10 foot from the main. It flared about like a 7-cell F111 but seemed to have a bit more lift. I did have time for one good practice flare and it did seem to want to stall predictably when I flared REALLY deep. illegible usually
  21. Yea, there just aren't 1000 republicans in Portland. illegible usually

  23. Sometime ago someone here posted a picture of some really freaky runway in the Alps that was two levels and the whole thing was on an incline. I was talking to someone about this and wanted to show the photo but couldn't find it. Anybody know where this was? Thanks illegible usually
