  1. Pay close attention to cameras and helmets, I've seen some pretty ugly noses as a result of soft nose vs. D-box illegible usually
  2. This whole line of reasoning is just so absurd to me. It is sort of like "Why would we allow someone to get a liver transplant, someone had to die to give up that liver" The fact is embryos are aborted every day. Removing the ban on stem cell research isn't giong to change that. If you feel SO strongly about this, ban fertility clinics instead, as they do create embryos that they know will be destroyed. illegible usually
  3. Agreed, they are both extreme ends of the spectrum. Although it seems the PETA people and tree hangers went with Nader last time. It's just that the "terrorist" label seems to get slapped on the eco-nuts a bit more often than the "true believers" illegible usually
  4. What are your bets the wack that did this is a big Bush supporter? http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=domesticNews&storyID=6091567 illegible usually

  7. Yes, But there have been termites for a long long time. What the report says is They considered the termites apparently. illegible usually
  8. No news here but it looks like the Bush admin has admitted it. http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996334 illegible usually
  9. That, like most statistical informatin re. China is pretty tough to get reliable info on. Good luck trying... illegible usually
  10. That's actually net. Those fortunate to have coverage through state or federal programs because they are poor are considered insured. The cost of uninsured medical care is one of many factors that is driving up the cost of insurance for those that do have coverage. It's not as glamorous as the medical malpractice awards but has a bigger impact overall. illegible usually
  11. I agree but I'll pass on the mink stew. People forget that minks are just rats with nice fur. Unless your a vegan, you've got no right to get all uppity about fur. (For the record, I think vegans are a bit wacked) illegible usually
  12. Pretty good - but I never did overcome my fatfinger syndrome.
  13. http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996323 Seems a messy house=messy mind illegible usually
  14. I doubt it's illegal. Just at variance with what they first said. Yeah, it's all BS and we have 2+ more months of it. For a group of guys that is pretty firmly on the -I HATE LAWYERS- bandwagon, they seem to make pretty effective use of very fine distinctions between legal/illegal. illegible usually
  15. I actually see a very good reason to intervene in Sudan. It's the same reason that we should have intervened in Afganistan BEFORE 9-11. It should be done to try to limit the spread of religious extremists. History has shown that zealots are dangerous if left alone. Please don't take this as a support for invasion. That would be wrong. We should, however, use whatever means we can (sanctions, working through/with the UN, humanitarian aid) to try to help end this. I think Iraq was (and continues to be) a distraction. Iraq was contained. Right now, as you stated, we are there-and can't go away. Our destruction of the SH government in Iraq has also led to the rise of zealots in that country and we can't walk away and give the country to factions like al-Sadr controls. My gut feeling is if we did, we'd see another Taliban style regieme in no time. illegible usually
  16. I agree it's not ready yet, mostly due to price, not technical issues though. I'm just wondering how long it will take. There are already tapeless MPEG4 video cams on the market. These have basically VHS quality but aren't really editable. MPEG2 is DVD quality (depends on bit rate of course) With a pair of 2G sticks, you could get about an hour of DVD quality footage. While the sticks are currently very expensive, the costs are dropping everyday and the same arguments were used for Digital SLR's less than 2 years ago. Don't see too many people here advocating for 35mm film these days. illegible usually
  17. I have to disagree with your logic here. The states DID do something. One of them legalized gay marriage. ____________________________ The R's say they are pro-states rights but when the states don't do what the Christian Conservative faction of the party likes, they step all over themselves. Consider Oregon's Right to Die laws or the Medical Marijuana laws of OR, WA, CA, NV ... illegible usually
  18. Their take is probably that it would be too easy to use this as a loophole. After all, how hard would it be to have Nike sponser gifted B-Ball player XX in basket weaving (even if he sucked at it) It follows the "its better to screw one guy (who will probably be just fine anyway cuz he's so good) than to break the system rule. illegible usually
  19. Where else could you ask " Do you prefer tongue, bite, blow or hand?"
  20. I wasn't "trying". It was an attempt to get information without having to google cheney's previous statements on FMA. I don't recall that he ever has made any statements on the FMA but I didn't know. BTW I'd like to ask him how he would VOTE on a constitutional admendment if required. IMO he's passing the buck and being weak (read afraid of the Religious Right) by not standing up for what he apparently believes in by saying that he "respects GW's policy making authority" The president is not assigned with the authority to edit the constitution (yet) That duty has been reserved by the Supreme Court illegible usually

  22. for this http://www.photographic.com/news/082504memory/ to replace miniDV tapes? I say about a year or two and we start to see some cool tapeless cams. I'd bet that within 5 years DV tape will be todays VHS. illegible usually

  24. I'm actually FOR abortion. So the Morning after pill is a great idea. Technically speaking, the morning after pill is no different in composition or effect than "normal" birth control pills. The dose is just higher. They both work by preventing the implantation of a fertillized egg. That's why the nuts (my opinion) who feel that life begins at conception actually CAUSE more abortions because they restrict access to this very effective and safe form of birth control. illegible usually
  25. Any yet there has been no reduction in the number of victims in multiple murders, or the number of multiple murders overall. So tell me what good limiting the capacity of MY self defense magzines would do, please. ps - to people who spend money and take care of their firearms, full capcity magazines were never unavailable, they just jumped 400% in cost. Hmm, I like guns. I disagree with the assault weapons ban because it's just a poorly written law but... Do you really need 25 rounds for self defense? Are you that shitty of a shot? My desert eagle only holds 9 and I feel VERY secure that if I needed ot to prevent a home invasion that it would work just fine. Hell, I'd probably just grab the shotgun instead - as stated many times before, the sound of a 12 gauge pump action if quite intimidating and theres less risk of shooting something in the next room. illegible usually
