  1. There are several trade offs in encoding to MPEG2. Time, compression rate, and file size. The higher the bit rate-the better the image quality(less compression) and the bigger the file size. Encoders have several options (not all have every option) Fixed bit rate Variable bit rate 2-pass variable bit rate Fixed-everything gets compressed the same=simplest scheme/less computing power needed but unless you choose a high bit rate, you will get artifacts on high data segments of the video If you choose a high bit rate, you will get a bigger file Variable-the software decides how much bit rate is needs based on the video stream. This is a compromise to keep file sizes smaller but requires more processing power (time) 2-pass variable bit rate-the same as above but the computer plays the vid through-then calculates the optimal bit rate for each vid segment. This gives the best overall result but takes a little better than twice as long to encode. illegible usually
  2. From Bandon I'd definately go with Eugene skydivers. Nothin' against Mollala but it would make a long drive longer. illegible usually
  3. It's about time for you all to try this: http://www.philosophers.co.uk/games/god.htm It's been posted before but if you haven't tried it yet, you might learn something about your own belief system. illegible usually
  4. Ok: There are some seriously funny political bumper stickers out there this season, how about posting your favorite. It should be an actual sticker, that you have either seen or have stuck on your car. Mine so far is: Bush is a MORON (and you know it) illegible usually
  5. In Sudan, by Syria a few months ago apparently. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_world/view/106666/1/.html Are we wasting time, money and good will in Iraq? illegible usually
  6. Actually some of the physical systems have the worst performance in the vibration ranges created by freefall. This is from anecdotal information but I have heard several issues with optical image stabilization vs electronic. The 330's extra pixels give the image processor a lot of room to work with so the stabilzation is pretty good. So far as color, if the light is good it produces VERY nice images. It's less effective in low light, where the 3CCD would be better. It's really about how much light hits each individual pixel and how many pixels total there are. Here's a good light and poor light pic from my 330 illegible usually
  7. word ------------ Same here. In fact I have 100% incontrovertible proof that unidentified flying objects exist. In fact, I see something in the sky now and don't know what it is. So there's one Is it one of these: http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/flying_triangle_040902.html Do I believe space crafts from other planets are visiting ours? No. illegible usually
  8. Ha! You say that like something is really going to change on Monday. The only thing that's going to change is that the price of the pre-ban rifles (which only differ cosmetically from post-ban rifles) and magazines will drop to the same levels as those which complied with the ban and were sold for the last decade. Firearms which were branded as so-called "assault weapons" were used in a minuscule number of crimes before the so-called ban. Today's statistics haven't changed. This was a bullshit feel-good bill that did NOTHING to prevent, deter or minimize crime. The death of this law will be met by mixed feelings from many self proclaimed "gun nuts". I know several that 'invested' in pre-ban guns, saw them dramatically increase in value and now will be left with overpriced toys. Oh well, kinda like the NYSE illegible usually
  9. It compresses to MPEG. If you currently have Hi Definition digital (satelite, cable) it's broadcast compressed also. There are several different compression schemes available, but even the terrestial HD broadcast is compressed. I'd be willing to bet within 5 years, anyone NOT using a HD camera will be like someone shooting CVHS today. illegible usually

  13. OK, The most recetn cypress thread brought this back to me again. What should be done with all the 12 year old cypri? I'm thinking someone should make something like a Vladiball with a brain, using the cypress as a activation device. Granted it would be a bit more expensive to reset if it fires but wouldn't airtec like selling more cutters? illegible usually

  16. Wow. that's pretty damn inaccurate. I'd never call that a "pistol grip" stock. I admit that gun bans in general are pointless and BS but saying that gun has a "pistol grip" is really a stretch. This is a pistol grip shotgun... illegible usually

  18. Pretty much on target. on "The PC330 and PC350 are both single CCD cameras. They are both 3 Megapixel CCD's - although only 2 million of those pixels are used for video. The rest are only used when taking stills." The rest of the pixels left out of the video are used for image stabilization. The differences in image quality between 3CCD and 1CCD are most apparent in poor light situations. It's been covered before but some 3CCD cameras have problems dealing with vibration. illegible usually
  19. As a washington voter, I agree. I think it's time to stop subsidizing the two party system. The argument used in court to strike down open primary we did have was that the partys could chose who got to vote in their primary. They didn't want anyone to sabotage their party's choice by voting for someone "unelectable". Fine. Use a caucus to select your candidate. Don't call it an election and make the rest of us pay for your poll. illegible usually
