  1. I'll have to chime in and agree with BV on this. However, mere brain activity does not necessarily equate human, after all, even those classified as "brain dead" have some lower autonomic brain functioning. I have no idea when the fetus reaches the point of being capable of what we would consider thought. Until then, an abortion os no more (or less) a murder than pulling the plug on someone who is in a permanant vegative state. illegible usually
  2. I got mine at Good Guys. I saw some at www.outpost.com, a fairly OK electronics wholesaler. They were 1200 athe store but are listed at 1399 online. Go figure. illegible usually

  4. Yea, OK you've changed my mind. Make the vouchers for about 65,000 a year to replace my lost income and I'll gladly stay home to educate my child. BTW There are a WHOLE lot of parents that just flat aren't able to teach anything other than how to be a worthless POS. How do you feel about giving them some $$ so they can stay home with the kids and teach them the finer points how to work the system? illegible usually
  5. I almost agree with you BUT In most of this country there are no private non-religious schools, probably will never be based solely on demographics. The bottom line is it might work in larger metro areas where there is choice and public transit but if you live in a small town it just will never be close to equal. The fact is there are very few non-religious private schools in the US. illegible usually
  6. VISA check cards are evil. Use a regular VISA and a seperate debit card that requires a PIN. The problem with the VISA check cards is the $$$ comes out of your account and can cause you to bounce checks. You will then play holy hell getting your NSF charges back and the establishment that the checks bounced at CAN charge you for the NSF even if you prove fraud. If you don't pay, they may report you to their credit agency and then you pay holy hell clearing your credit record. You will eventually get every thing straingt but no-one reimburses you forthe time and money you will spend getting it straight. With a 'normal' credit card (not tied to your checking account) You would be out no $$ until the dispute has been resolved. illegible usually
  7. Mine wasn't on video but I had a bad lock that didnt have enough drag to release the risers when I cut away. My reserve fired into the mess and the reserve PC got fouled in main bridle. It cleared when either the reserve bridle or reserve PC added anough drag to the mess to pull it off my back. illegible usually
  8. ...a few friends asked if I wanted to get in on the Horney Gorilla, everything went well till I pulled my PUD - man did I get spanked - then to top it off, I wasn't getting any penetration, just barely made it back and had to do a super dave cuz I wasn't high enough to hook it... illegible usually

  11. Looks like there are at least a few of us here! I was actually asked about hobbies in my 2nd interview. Since it looked like I had a good chance of being hired, I really had an internal debate about whether to tell the truth or talk about my pursuits prior to skydiving. I ended up telling the interviewer that I was a certified coach and related it to effectively managing risk/skills building-training/and leadership ability. It must have worked. illegible usually

  13. Hey you! I am also in Risk Management. My official title is Loss Control Consultant. I always get a mixed response when people find out what I do for fun. So for you are the only other Safety professional that I know that jumps. Red illegible usually

  15. I have a 3MP cannon A75. The 330 takes better stills in most conditions. If the exposure is funky and I need manual control, the cannon works better but as a point and shoot (full auto) the 330 wins about 95% of the time. Edit to add: The pop-up flash on the 330 is kinda a PITA. It is too strong up close and too weak at reasonable flash distances. If you try to tak a flash photo with a Wide angle lens on, it creates a shadow. Basically seems like an afterthought, needless to say it doesn't get used much. illegible usually
  16. Did a "sort of" demo at a local fly-in/airport awareness/community event in Vancouver WA. The DZ had filed a temporary NOTAM to relocate operations to the airfield. Just did a solo but it was pretty cool to be exiting over all the houses and neighborhoods. (The airport provided a huge landing area. A bunch of kids from the local Civil Air Patrol acted as "ground crew" and X'd out one of the runways for our landing area.) There were tons of wuffo's and lookie lou's all out to watch or get a low cost "intro" flight - the local flight school was taking people up for a penny a pound for a quick trip as a publicity stunt. I think the airport is all but closed now due to development issues illegible usually
  17. Just for clarification, what were the model/version ofhte Vigils you had problems with. I thought they were on revision 3 currently. illegible usually

  19. Many who know me would say I don't listen to anyone Actually, I listen to everyone, and try to get as much info as possible. If someone tell me something that contradicts what I am getting from everywhere else, I tend to question that persons statements. It was pretty obvious at the time of the "mission accomplished" speech that we were, still, very much not finished. Yes, I would listen to the guy that is supposed to be in the know, but if he was blowing smoke up my ass it would change my opinion of the value of his advice. I was just saying that there was a lot of evidence that we were no where near finished in Iraq, and I would be reluctant to make an ass of myself by saying that we were. illegible usually
  20. I actually believe that none of this is actually GW's fault. He's just an average guy that spent most of his youth doing what a lot of us did-or would do if we were rich and powerfull from day one, party party party. I've always felt that the reason he was pushed so hard from the right was that they felt they could get him to do just what they asked him to do. That's what scares me the most about this administration, it's largely a puppet show - the people actually pulling the strings aren't the ones that we see, and can't really be held accountable for their decisions. SO if Franks told GW to say this - and it doesn't surprise me a bit- I think the big news is why wasn't GW bright enough to saay "Hey, wait a minute. Are you sure we are done over there? Don't we still have people fighting over there? Did we get OBL yet? Did we find the WMD's? What, we didn't, well I'm not giong to strut my ass around and say we are finished." The leader of our country should lead - not follow his advisors blindly. illegible usually
  21. Thanks. One advantage of the 330 is the still resolution (not from video) The camera does a gret job of taking stills. Unfortunately it can't do both stills and video at the same time. Here is a still photo from my 330 taken at sunset in LP. The photo was taken in pretty low light, and still turned out pretty good. It suffers a bit from squishing it enough to fit here. illegible usually
  22. In play back mode, while the tape is playing, just press the 'photo' button. You can also create MPEG video on the stick by pushing the round start stop button on the back during playback. Pretty cool if you just want a quick clip to e-mail or post. illegible usually
  23. I love my 330. The video is great, esp when shot in progressive mode. Here are a few stills captures from tape directly to the mem stick. illegible usually
  24. Yeah - Cuz John Mellencamp and Bruce Springstein are very well known for their anti-american stance. Maybe we should just deport everybody that thinks for themselves to France... illegible usually
