Just thought I’d share. This weekend I rode “front side” on a tandem with a good friend to help him qualify for his rating. He has one more non-paying jump to make before he’s qualified. When he asked me to go, I let him know I was planning some trickery. I played nice till he threw the drogue (Hey, I didn’t want to kill us both!) As soon as I felt the drogue toss I went into a hard right turn. We started spinning (he’s yelling “you f’r) and then he corrects the spin (good job). As soon as he regained control, I went hard into a left turn. More cursing and a quick correction. As soon as he had that under control, I went into a track and tried to get as close to head down as possible. I stopped the foolishness at 8 grand and let him relax for the important part. Under canopy, we both had a great laugh and a good landing. He’ll be a great instructor. Yep. I'm a bastard. But we had a great time. illegible usually

By observing how the nerve cells interact with the simulator, scientists can decode how a neural network establishes connections and begins to compute, DeMarse said. When DeMarse first puts the neurons in the dish, they look like little more than grains of sand sprinkled in water. However, individual neurons soon begin to extend microscopic lines toward each other, making connections that represent neural processes. "You see one extend a process, pull it back, extend it out – and it may do that a couple of times, just sampling who's next to it, until over time the connectivity starts to establish itself," he said. "(The brain is) getting its network to the point where it's a live computation device." To control the simulated aircraft, the neurons first receive information from the computer about flight conditions: whether the plane is flying straight and level or is tilted to the left or to the right. The neurons then analyze the data and respond by sending signals to the plane's controls. Those signals alter the flight path and new information is sent to the neurons, creating a feedback system. "Initially when we hook up this brain to a flight simulator, it doesn't know how to control the aircraft," DeMarse said. "So you hook it up and the aircraft simply drifts randomly. And as the data comes in, it slowly modifies the (neural) network so over time, the network gradually learns to fly the aircraft." illegible usually

Nice. So by your thoughts, they should have been using chain guns? Maybe bring in a C130? Sounds to me like the girl that got killed wasn't "rioting" . From the video, it looked like there wasn't really ANY riot, just a bunch of drunks and people partying. I've seen way more mayhem in NewOrleans at martigras and no-one got shot at. The cops just take out the idiots, lock 'em up till sober, and let the city work crews clean up the mess in the am. Ever actually seen a riot? I have. People throwing bricks and burning police cars. The cops at that time just pulled back, watched and went in and busted the a-holes after they had exhausted themselves. Seems a bit better than opening up on a crowd. illegible usually -
HMMM.... Believe it or not, soem people might have a tough time getting a new job that is equivalent. Last time I was 'downsized' it cost me my 5 weeks of vacation that I had. I've got a better job now, but there are a lot of folks out there that really do have a rough time finding equivalent income. Those that do often have to move, which can be pretty tough as well. Who I listen to, what I read, and where I go in my free time is none of my employers concern. illegible usually

I really wouldn't care. As long as the relationship was disclosed, it's part of what we used to have as the first of what we refer to as the Bill of Rights. Maybe you've heard of it. Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. In my mind, if corporations are allowed to control the rights of people when they are not on the clock it is a violation of these individuals basic rights. Word from Mike is they will have it this weekend. They are in Olympia today, putting some time behind the stick, getting it ready. Soloy claims 10.5 minutes to 12K at gross but those that have jumped it say it's a bit slower than that. It has a HUGE step and is said to be very comfy and quiet on the rise up. For my work PC it is great. The speed of the search is amazing. I also clean the browser cache, but it "finds" all the client email and reports and notes and letters. Quickly. I was convinced in two searches. (it took 0.2 sec to find 3 emails, 21 files and 4 photos from typing in a client name and return) illegible usually
