  2. I love my flag, and my country. I for one did say the pledge every morning during grade school during general assembly. I was always uncomfortable about the "under god" part. The simple solution is to take that out. It does not belong. Without those eight letters, there is no argument about the pledge. Is the pledge about your god or your country? For me, the flag represents my country, not your god, or anyone elses. illegible usually
  3. I agree with this. We should have given the poor jobs educations and access to family planning. illegible usually

  7. OK, so that's funny. Not as funny as this line in the bio tho... He named the pussy Willie. I wonder if the cat's full name is Willie Jefferson. I bet GW kicks the cat every now and then illegible usually
  8. An even more important consideration, IMO, is - will we remember how to make beer? Sure, but good beer takes a lot of good craftsmanship. Our offspring will be cursed with living in a world of crappy beer... illegible usually
  9. What are the Hebrew words for BEER and COOLER? How about BIGGER COOLER? A bigger cooler is worthless without more beer... illegible usually

  17. Can't be. We've always been like this, and will never change. Kallend, you're a blasphemer... illegible usually
  18. The point being made (and made and made and made, but the Left can't seem to let go of Bush-bashing long enough to see it) is that it was the responsibility of the LOCAL AND STATE governments to start the ball rolling by activating the LOCAL AND STATE disaster plans and for the STATE GOVERNOR to request aid from the FEDERAL government. As it happened, the LOCAL AND STATE governments didn't do their jobs, and the President had to do an end-around (as stated above) to be able to get the federal aid started. The coast guard apparently had no problems going in immediately. I understand they actually watched the forecast and prepostioned resources, and started rescuing people as soon as the 'copters could fly. It is about leadership. http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20050908-090641-4058r.htm http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/05/AR2005090501418.html illegible usually

  20. I spend much of my life (it’s my day job) trying to teach people things that I know they will never really apply. When working with students that I know won’t stick with it, I just treat it as an opportunity to practice my performance. That way I might be a little bit better for the next person that’s really serious. Don’t let it get you down. Just enjoy the jump! illegible usually
  21. Republican talking point of the day #2. It's the mayor of NO that is responsible. illegible usually
  22. OMG, shit, now it all makes sense! He must have organized the whole thing! Hurricane Katrina is just a ploy by Mossad to kill Americans! Those damned Jews! No just plain old fashioned incompetance and a complete lack of foresight. I heard the interview and Chertoff spent a good several minutes trying to tell NPR that the report of 1000's of people at the convention center was just a rumor and that everything was under control. What a ass. I am ashamed of my country today, and I'm really pissed. Within 50 miles of this disaster, there are more resources than there are in many entire counties. Why the fuck does it take 5 days to get people help? There are a lot of people to blame here and I hope that after this is over we will have some accountability. illegible usually
  23. As a normally proud American, I am ashamed and disgusted. We have allowed ourselves to become dependant on a government that no longer cares about it's people. illegible usually
  24. We have had mail in elections for quite a while. If you are too cheap to put on the stamp, you can drive to the courthouse and drop your ballot off there. Of course, you will spend more than the cost of a stamp on gas. Quit bitchin, just vote. illegible usually
