  1. I think we have a winner!!! illegible usually
  2. How about one of these? (a lot more fun than a jetta..under 20K new w/ rebates) http://www.modernracer.com/mazdaspeedmiata.html Mine will hold two people, two rigs, a gear bag and 1/2 case (12 bottles) of beer. What else do you need to carry? illegible usually
  3. I would think the opposite. WIth a throw out at very low airspeed you still need enough drag to inflate the PC before your container opens. You might tow the PC a bit but at least the PC would have enough drag to carry the bag to full line stretch. I can picture a sub-terminal with a pull out as POSSIBLY having an open container and the d-bag kind of lazily reaching line stretch if there isn't quite enough drag on the PC. Either way from 3500 there should be plenty of altitude to take a 10 second delay. At that point the speed should be plenty for either system to work just fine. I've only got a couple dozen jumps on pull-out gear and all at terminal so those are just my thoughts. Why would you think pull out would be better at sub-terminal? illegible usually
  4. My costco doesn't sell tequilla Does it come in 5-gallon jugs? illegible usually
  5. Uh, drop by on sunday morning, there will probably be a few.... illegible usually
  6. I walked into Costco (a big warehouse store here on the left side of the US) last night and... the first thing you see when you walk in are 6 HUGE plasma HD televisions all playing Adrenaline Rush in HD. It was definately impressive... illegible usually
  7. I don't support golf and I think it's a terrible waste of time and natural resources but I really don't care if someone else wants to play. Should I push to outlaw golf? Or just ignore the fools that like to have their walk spoiled? illegible usually
  8. That and the beer. There's way too much beer in Canada and I think they should send it all to us. Free of course illegible usually
  9. And I wonder if any of the people who are in favor of this government record-keeping requirement on porn performers to ensure that they are not minors, are opposed to gun registration... illegible usually
  10. No, I can tell you from my professional experiance that it happens every day anyway. It's wrong, but people find ways to justify nearly everything. illegible usually

  12. It was really meant as sarcasm, sorry it didn't come through that way. Overall, as has been pointed out, the US would likely fare better due to: Population density Available medical resources Education of the general population Sanitation practices currently in place We will still be hit, and hit very hard when a pandemic occurs, it's just likely that proportionately fewer Amercans will die. Due in large part to our existing infrastructure and privately held wealth, the US would also be better able to recover. Global estimates of death range from 100 Million to 1-2 billion, depending on who's doing the counting. http://effectmeasure.blogspot.com/2004/12/trying-to-count-future-flu-deaths.html That's a lot of people. When that many people die, entire societies are very prone to collapse. illegible usually
  13. Can we just throw 'em all in and get a fresh batch? illegible usually
  14. It also make the assumption that all the existing beds are available for flu cases, so while the epidemic is ongoing try to not break a leg/have a heart attack/need dialysis. Once the Dr's get sick and require care - the whole system just might fail. It's actually pretty easy to imagine us stacking bodies in cargo containers, just like they had to do in France. We might dodge this, with luck. Hell, we might even get REALLY lucky and have it hit China hard first and kill off about 25% of their labor pool and reset the economic development clock back by 30 years or so. Pretty tragic way to get lucky though. illegible usually
  15. more on that... http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000080&sid=agGmCkuvR_1U&refer=asia it's starting to look like that deal will go through. Makes me wonder if Rhino will get his wish. Once the Chairman buys the rest of the US, we probably will outlaw the desecration of the national flag. Too bad it wil look like this... illegible usually
  16. Actually, while that's true for established strains, there is little way to tell about newly emergent strains. WHEN there is a pandemic, it will affect nearly everyone as there will be little immunity to the disease. There will likely be many more deaths than this predicts as once the hospitals fill up with the worst cases, many more will receive almost no care. This is the one thing that actually scares me more than our politicians. and I don't really scare that easily. i have found thishttp://www.recombinomics.com/whats_new.html to be a pretty good site. It tends to be a bit alarmist, but the links and info are generally acccurate. illegible usually
  17. What format are they in now? VHS? Assuming you don't need to edit it, if they are on tape, a cheap DVD recorder will do the trick for about that and you get to keep the recorder... If edits are required, just ask one of the video guys at your DZ. Me, I would capture/edit/ x-fer to DVD a vid for a lot cheaper than that IF they were a skydiver. For someone else, 120 isn't too far off. illegible usually
  18. Bravo! Wendy W. I once pissed on a fire, the only protesting done at that time was about the smell... illegible usually
  19. It's OK but IMO I think the fish eye effect is just too great . Certainly the best video would include both handcam and outside video. There is a place for both though. My thought is that the customer should get to see examples of all three videos, and let them choose. The DZO's need to remember that the REAL value of video is in advertising. A HC vid is fun to watch for the person that jumped but outside vid will sell more tandems - IMO. illegible usually
  20. Not to side track (well, OK maybe I do want to side track) but Ya'll know it's also legal to burn a cross. Many would argue that the cruciform is at least as powerful as a symbol to many, and just as offensive when burned. Sometimes idiots who are unable to express themselves otherwise, need a way to show the rest of us just how dumb they really are. Maybe we should just outlaw fire? (Nah, we have to have something to stare at while we drink beer and lie about out skydives...) illegible usually
  21. I may be wrong but wouldn't "reasonable notice" include publishing the basic info in a national forum like they do forfiture notices? illegible usually
  22. I'll bite that one. Liberal. They based their opinion on existing case law, once again proving that the slippery slope does indeed exist. I'd take a TRUE conservative anyday. I just want one that believes that the constitution has more to do with the way we should run the country than the bible does. Haven't been many of those for a long time. There was a really good reason that our founders intent was to keep god and country seperated. illegible usually
  23. Actually with the Patriot act, he could be labeled a terrorist first, and then they could take the house. Since he's already admitted to having "an arsenal" and intent to use force against the government he's certainly guilty. It's no longer the act that is illegal, but the intent to act. illegible usually
