You might want to break it to your republican friends that this statement is intended to be sarcastic. I think they have forgotten that little fact as they spend our $$. illegible usually

Which best serves to restore the people of New Orleans to their homes: 1) One person who gets a job for $30 per hour, or; 2) Two people who get jobs for $15 per hour each? Furthermore, the more people you can bring in to get a job done, the quicker the city can be restored. So you can have: 1) Some high-paid construction workers taking twice as long to do the job, or; 2) Twice as many construction workers being paid half as much getting the job done in half the time. Take your pick. I suppose if Bush didn't take this action, then the Bush-haters would be screaming about how he is deliberatly slowing down the restoration of New Orleans, with implications of racism... Not this old argument again. No business I have ever worked with (I currently have a book of clients that covers 245 businesses accross the entire spectrum of occupations) has ever hired more workers than they need to do the work, regardless of the salary. Employers hire the number of workers they need, to accomplish the job at hand. No business will hire two workers when one can so the work (with the exception of the Govm't, I'll grant you that one) illegible usually

I think fair would be taking every thing they have and giving them a mobile home in one of the new trailer parks just outside of NO when they get out. (IMO this should include all possessions of their immediate families) They should have nothing but total poverty. Let 'em work at walmart for the next 30 years... illegible usually

Consider the alternatives. No matter who we vote for, our standards have got to be pretty low.

Help was offered and refused or at least delayed. You really ought to read the Stafford Act and take a look at the NRP www.dhs.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/NRPbaseplan.pdf to see what the President can (and should) do before any request comes from a city or state. Edited to add - and the State of Emergency was declared even before the storm hit. That's all the President needed to go into action - read the Act. FACT - FEMA did not follow its own NRP. FACT - The US Coast Guard went in as soon as the storm subsided, under the same authority that FEMA could have used. Some day you may learn to find facts instead of going to CNN NPR, CBS, NBC, ABC As the truth is coming out and more Americans do not blame the president. But they do blame state and city leaders your partisanship comes more to light. ABC's interviews last night after the presidents address was a shameful example as they looked to find someone to blame GWB. When they finaly got the 5th or 6th one to say it was the presidents fault (even after the shamefully leading questions) the last one was the one that made the evening report. But the media is not bias Yeah, everyone EXCEPT FOX and Rush are wrong... Get the fuck over it. The mayor is an idiot. Granted. I've seen enough of him to say that with confidence. HOWEVER, Bush (via FEMA) had the authority to override him starting on Saturday when the "state of emergency" was declared. Thay could have acted, should have acted, and had the power to act. They didn't. They fucked up. Big time. And a lot of people died because of it. Admit it. Bush already did. A real man can say "I fucked up, I'm sorry. I will try to do better next time." I know politicians have a hard time doing this but you have no such excuse. illegible usually -
